Reunion Lake RV Resort, Ponchatoula, Louisiana
Date of Stay:
March, 2019 -
$22.00
Overall Rating:
We stayed here for a month and really liked the park. Lots of amenities to use from a swimming pool with a lazy river that you can float around on a tube. Sites are huge with lots of room for your truck or toad. Fire pits at each site with some buddy sites available as well as triple buddy sites. Pickle ball and mini golf are also available. The swim up bar was closed but will open April 1st as will the little canteen serving burgers hot dogs and pizza. There is a gas station with a Sonic within walking distance. The Resort is gated so you need a code to get in. Lots of shopping within 15-20 minutes as well as Plantations and New Orleans within an hours drive. Already planning on coming back next year. Only small gripe is the lack of recycling (being Canadian we recycle practically everything). We camped at Reunion Lake RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
Lots of site seeing near by. The Chimes restaurant in Covington was especially great. Also the Tamany Trace bike trail is amazing!

Parkview Riverside RV Park, Concan, Texas
Date of Stay:
January, 2019 -
$13.00
Overall Rating:
The rate reflects a winter monthly rate of $380.00 plus power (this month is 10.8 cents a kwh). Very nice park with a lot of mature live oak trees. Satellite can be a bit of a problem for some but we have a dish on a tripod so can set it up for a clear view. Utillities are in the right spotbut our site wasn't overly level but the auto level on the trailer worked. Fires are allowed and wood is $12 a bag so we found a local guy that sold us a truck load way cheaper. Office staff are very nice and they have quite a bit of stock. Easy walk down to the river (ramp and stairs) for some trout fishing! Nearest Walmart is about 30 minutes away in Uvalde Tx and San Antonio is 1: 20 away. The roads could use upgrading as they are getting pretty rough with some potholes. We would stay here again as it's pretty hard to beat the price. We camped at Parkview Riverside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
Go to the Bent Rim Grill in Leakey Tx for the best home made hamburgers in Texas.

OK RV Park & Canyonlands Stables, Moab, Utah
Date of Stay:
April, 2018 -
$39.00
Overall Rating:
As the name says it's an Ok park to stay in. We were here for one night only so didn't get out to see all the sites around Moab Our site was a pull through and just long enough that we didn't have to unhook our 40' fifth wheel.Hook ups were in the right spot and the cable tv worked great with over 100 channels (a lot were digital). Wifi worked pretty well and we had a picnic table. You also get a nice view of the mountains. We'd stay here again. We camped at OK RV Park & Canyonlands Stables in a Fifth Wheel.

Carlsbad KOA, Carlsbad, New Mexico
Date of Stay:
April, 2018 -
$45.00
Overall Rating:
Gravel sites with gravel roads. Hook ups were in the right spot and cable was good. Only 2 downsides were that the wifi was horrible at our site and the water was pretty hard. So try to get a site at either end of the row if you need good wifi. I walked to the end and it worked pretty good but of course we were put right in the middle. A few things to see and do in the area. We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
Carlsbad Caverns, Sitting Bull Falls and great food at McAllisters.

WinStar RV Park, Thackerville, Oklahoma
Date of Stay:
April, 2018 -
$20.00
Overall Rating:
Very nice park close to the casino. All hook ups were in the right spot and our concrete pad was huge and level. They have a free shuttle to take you over to the casino which has quite a few restaurants to choose from. There is also shopping in Gainsville. Wifi was iffy at times. Would stay here again. We camped at WinStar RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
Check out the casino.

Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas
Date of Stay:

$33.00
Overall Rating:
I'd give this park a 10 if it wasn't for the wind! All the services were in the right spot and the cable worked great as did the wifi. There weren’t a lot of people there when we first arrived but got 3/4's full for the Easter weekend. Some full timers there with most of their sites kept clean. Would stay there again. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Lakeside RV Park, Livingston, Louisiana
Date of Stay:
March, 2018 -
$40.00
Overall Rating:
Nice park with concrete pads and views of the lake behind us. We were gone most days so we weren't here all that much. Our friend who was camping beside us tried fishing and in no time had caught at least a dozen but threw them all back (too small) but you can keep what you catch. There are ducks, geese and 2 swans around the park which are fun to watch. Utilities are in the right spot plus we had a firepit and a picnic table as well as a pad to park our truck on.They also have a small store with firewood sales and a few supplies. Road noise was pretty evident but not annoying. I'd try to stay on the east side next time to be further from the highway. Would stay here again. We camped at Lakeside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
Lots of shopping nearby as well as a few plantation tours 30-40 minutes away. Houmas House tour was the best out of the 3 we visited (Oak Alley and the Whitney Plantation were the other 2).

Lake Osprey RV Resort, Elberta, Alabama
Date of Stay:
March, 2018 -
$30.00
Overall Rating:
Rate reflects monthly rate. Nice clean park with cement pads and lots of room between sites. The lakeside sites are pretty much all set up for motorhomes to pull in. They do have a tugger to pull your 5th wheel in if you so desire but we decided to back in as we wanted the lake view. We had enough electrical cord and water hose to run around the outside of the pad and the sewer we ran under the trailer and just hooked it up when ever the tanks needed dumping. Expensive nightly and weekly rates as we decided to stay an extra 6 nights after our month was up and were charged $400.00. The clubhouse is nice as is the pool and hot tub. Washers and dryers are free but you must book a time for them. One thing I wasn't aware of (and wasn't pleased with) was that we were charged for power (normal for monthly stays) but weren't told of all the extra costs. My $58.00 bill turned into a $101.00 so be prepared. No picnic tables either. Overall a nice park with friendly people and lots to do but probably wouldn't stay her again. We camped at Lake Osprey RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
Lots to see and do in Gulf Shores or Pensacola. Try to take in Alligator Alley Farm.

Campgrounds of the South, Gulfport, Mississippi
Date of Stay:
February, 2018 -
$23.00
Overall Rating:
For the price it was a decent campground. Lots of traffic noise but it's just white noise by now. Concrete pad was plenty long enough for our truck and fifth wheel and hookups were in the correct spot. About a 10 minute drive to the beach in Gulfport and the sand is nice and white. Wifi isn't the greatest and you can have digital cable if you put a deposit down on a cable box. We were able to receive lots of channels over the air so not a big issue. They must've had rain in the last few days as there was a lot of standing water. We camped at Campgrounds of the South in a Fifth Wheel.
Gotta visit Half Shell Oyster restaurant in Gulfport. It was the best!

Hidden Lake RV Resort, Beaumont, Texas
Date of Stay:
January, 2018 -
$40.00
Overall Rating:
Nice park close to the I-10 so there is some road noise but not bad in the trailer. Hookups are in the right spot and cable worked great. Sites are nice and fairly level with them being long enough that we didn't have to unhook for our 1 night stay. Wifi is excellent with hardly any slow downs. Would defiantly stay here again. We camped at Hidden Lake RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
