Pecan Park RV Resort, Jacksonville, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

This isn't a bad place but I give it a lower rating because of advertising itself as an RV Resort and charging as if it is one. There is nothing here to qualify this as a resort, which I consider to be a destination itself. Rather, as an RV park, this would rate fairly high. This is a decent place to park when sightseeing in the area. It is best described as an airport parking lot with hookups and grass between the spaces. There is no ambiance whatsoever. It lies directly beneath the airport departure flight path, so noise is considerable starting at 5:45 AM every morning. When that's not happening, there's traffic noise from I-95. Sites are pull-through, paved, large, and mostly level but are boring. No picnic tables or fire rings and minimal trees. There is a small pool and modern laundry facilities. It's very convenient to I-95 and for the adjoining flea market. We camped at Pecan Park RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Great Sand Dunes Oasis RV Park, Mosca, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Basically a parking lot with a single row of full hookup sites, a few trees, playground area, and a nearby building with restrooms and laundry. It's the closest park to the Sand Dunes that has hookups (campgrounds inside the park do not have hookups, do not support rigs longer than 34 feet, and often fill up by mid-day). Sites are a bit close together but are level gravel and include fire ring, grill, and picnic table. Hookups are well-placed. Nice view of the mountains and dunes. Convenience store and restaurant within walking distance. We camped at Great Sand Dunes Oasis RV Park in a Motorhome.

Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Friendly staff. Dirt roads throughout with a few rough spots here and there. Sites are gravel and hit or miss: many are not very level and in some sections are very close together. The strangest part is the unpredictable hookup locations. For some sites you'll need a long cord and/or hose, and you may share a post with the adjoining site (so too bad if you both need 50 amp). Some fire pits are so close to the roadway to be basically unusable. They did give us a bunch of site options to choose from once we got there, and we eventually found one we liked. This was our alternative campground for the area, and once we got over our initial disappointment, it wasn't bad. We camped at Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.
