About we2

been camping for twenty some odd years. this is our 6th motorhome. former boaters and if you think camping is expensive try boating. Plus, there aint no shade out on the ocean, and fuel is cheaper than it is at marinas. We have seen more great places camping and met more nice people than boaters do. Our cockatiel loves traveling with us. Yup he is one happy camper ! his name is Larry Bird. We are former new englanders but still Patriots fans.

Statesville / I-77 KOA, Statesville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

We stay there when visiting friends in the area and have found it very good. power is good, cable was good and the pool was clean. The employees are very friendly and helpful. most sites are good with enough room for coach and car. Its easy on and off from rt 77. We camped at Statesville / I-77 KOA in a Motorhome.

Kountry Resort Campground, Racine, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

If you have anything longer than 34 feet dont bother with this place. Its a very spacious c.g. but the sites are tiny and the roads are too narrow for two vehicles to pass each other.Im going to have to leave here by going out the wrong way as thats the only way I can get out of here. We camped at Kountry Resort Campground in a Motorhome.

New Green Acres RV Park , Walterboro, South Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We havent been here for some years but it is just as handy to 95 and the sites are just as long and wide. 50 amp service is good and cable has lots of stations. There is a crackerbarrel just across from the entrance road and the campground is easy on and off 95 north or south. great overnite stop. The pool was closed for some reason but it sure looked inviting. We camped at New Green Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.

Compass RV Park (formerly Indian Forest Campground), St Augustine, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Great park, handy to rt 95 without the noise. It's a short drive to downtown St. Augustine (about 10 minutes). The park is well laid out ,quiet, neat, shady and well maintained. They even have buddy sites! We were in the oasis section, nice pull-though, pavers great power, well placed sewer connections, good cable. We had a problem with the cable but the employees showed up right away and tracked down the problem to our connections. We replaced them and all was right with the world. Many sites had fire rings. We didn't but at 80 degrees we didn't need one. We camped at Compass RV Park (formerly Indian Forest Campground) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Big Bills diecast store has over 14000 diecast cars, trucks, busses, plains etc. if you like that stuff and there are plenty of antique shops all around it. Its just north of the fountain of youth. la Strada is a tiny italian restaurant with great food and atmosphere. Its over on the island . It worth the ride . If you love the ocean take the scenic tours line around the harbor. Its well narrated and if you sit in the bow on the lower level you will get the breezes and still be in the shade.

St. Johns River Campground, Astor, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $57.00
Overall Rating:

This is an odd campground as it is also a marina. Having said that, we enjoyed having the boating activities going on there as well as camping. the sites right on the river are the best and worth the extra money. the restaurant is just ok but its nice to have it right there as well as the bar. there is a tour boat right there also and we enjoyed the cruise up the river. the sites away from the river are just ok . quite a mix of permanents and weekenders back there. Some sites need to be cleaned up badly back there. generally if we get the sites up front we will be back but not the ones out back. We camped at St. Johns River Campground in a Motorhome.

Deland center is just down the road from the campground and has plenty of shops and good restaurants. the tour boat ride was very informative about the river and the wildlife. the bar closes around 10 pm and seemed very quiet when open.

Bass Lake RV Campground, Dillon, South Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Its a nice quiet campground right off 95 south. There is noise from a racetrack behind the campground when they are racing but I consider this a bonus as I went to the races because I found out about the track. the owners were great, british and very helpful. Gave us great places to eat. the lake is nice but those sites are for tenters. considering how close 95 is there is hardly any noise. We camped at Bass Lake RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Kings pizza in dillon has great Italian food. If you need or want some tools Harbor freight is one exit south. When pulling into your site be very aware of the water pipe . it doesnt show up too well. I found out the hard way. The owner took care of it quickly and handled the situation like a true gentleman.

Plenty of restaurants and shopping in the area. Heavy traffic at the entrance road so if you see an opening go go go ! Dont look for tourist info in the office. They dont have any, so if you are a tourist you are on your own. I had never seen a campground that didnt have some kind of tourist flyers available. nice place otherwise.

Travelers World RV Resort, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

It's a nice campground with lots of shade trees. The pool is heated but just a tad on the small size if a crowd showed up. The staff is very helpful. It is right on the bus line into downtown San Antonio and it's a short ride. Its also right on the riverwalk in case you are a jogger. All in all a very pleasant experience. Tips for other Campers:

4 of the 5 missions( the Alamo is the 5th) are south of town, right near the campground and an easy drive. They are more interesting than the Alamo, to be honest. Walmart is a mile and a half away too. Definitely use the bus to downtown. It's much easier all around.

Sandpiper RV Resort, Galveston, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $72.00
Overall Rating:

Check in went fine, got a nice site (9) but it had a weak 50 amp breaker. I walked over to one of the employees and explained my problem and he took me right up to the office and got me a different site with no hassles at all. both employees were helpful and apologetic about the problem and couldnt be more helpful. It was a nice experience. Wish we could have stayed longer. We camped at Sandpiper RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Hollywood Casino RV Park, Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We were there during tropical storm Cindy and it was interesting, to say the least. There was some flooding at the sites but the staff let us move to higher spots. They came by at least hourly to check on us and to inform us of any developments. The campground is nice, paved, good power and cable, level sites, trees, trash barrels, and a free shuttle to the casino. We enjoy our stays there. The only complaint would be the check-in process. They need to have a campground manager on site to check you in not the hotel desk. They are way too busy with the hotel stuff. We camped at Hollywood Casino RV Park in a Motorhome.

The casino and hotel are a short walk from the campground but the shuttle is available also. There is a pool at the hotel that you can use. Bay Saint Louis is a quaint little town with many shops and restaurants along the gulf waterfront. It's well worth a visit. I just wish I could have won at the slots. Oh well, maybe next time.

Holiday Cove RV Resort, Cortez, Florida

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

We made reservations on the phone but when we got there we had to go through the whole info routine due to the fact that there are two different entities that rent out the sites and neither seems to know what the other is doing. Very strange indeed. The campground is neat, clean and attractive. The streets are a bit narrow for backing in but the escort guided us in . We would have stayed longer but couldnt get a hold of the person who booked us originally so we left for another place. We camped at Holiday Cove RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

The check in was a nice experience for a change. The staff answered all our questions in a very helpful and friendly way and it was easy to see that they were really into their job. Couldnt be better. Park is clean and neat. The sites are large and the hookups worked as advertised. Had a little trouble with the cable but that was due to our settings on our tv. Got them straightened out without any help. The views out our windshield were great. We camped at Ho-Hum RV Park in a Motorhome.

Big Texan RV Ranch (formerly Amarillo Ranch RV Park), Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

We made reservations here months ago and asked for a pullthru site. We arrived early afternoon and were put in what I would consider a rally field . The system here seems to be -give out the crappy sites first and give the late arrivals the good sites even if they are only overnighting. We spent a week in the worst site in the place so will never come back. We had to back out of our "pullthru " because of the ridiculous layout they have. It could be a nice place but it isn't now. We camped at Big Texan RV Ranch (formerly Amarillo Ranch RV Park) in a Motorhome.
