Skidaway Island State Park, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful park. Paved roads. Only problem with roads in my section was that they were very bumpy. Cable reception was very poor but OTA reception was very good. Did not report problem with office. Wooded sites. My site, like many others was a "horseshoe" pull thru but the turn into the site was too tight for me. Backed in without problems. Site was perfectly level side to side. Large raised platform for picnic table and/or tent. Very close to good grocery store. Power and water pressure good. Trash dumpsters located adjacent to dump station. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Jekyll Island Campground, Jekyll Island, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

First return here after several years. Very nice park. Now has cable and wifi at all sites. My site was in a newer section, not yet included on the campground map. It was a back in which backed up to another site but since the site behind me was open when I checked in, the host guided me in as if it was a pull through. This section (T) is mostly open, most of the older sites are in wooded areas. All sites appear to be easy to get into and are nice sized. Laundry accepts both coins and credit cards. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

You are on an island. There is a grocery store and convenience store on the island but if you plan on eating at your site, you'd be better off making sure you have the grocery items you need. Grocery prices were high and selection limited. Fuel available at the convenience store. Lots of shopping and pretty good restaurants on the island. About 16 miles off I-95 and worth the trip off the interstate.

Roebuck Campground, Meaford, Ontario

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Site was a bit off level and fairly soft gravel. Power adequate, 108 volts. No wifi or cable. Got 3 ota tv stations. Trash dumpster a bit out of the way. This said, glad I stayed here. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Beautiful part of the province. Town has quite a few nice and reasonable restaurants. Have friends living in a nearby town who took me site seeing. A lot to see and do. Will come back. A little under 200 miles from Niagara Falls, NY. We camped at Roebuck Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Niagara Falls / Grand Island KOA, Grand Island, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice, well maintained park. Stayed in a pull through site and got a deluxe cabin for daughter, son-in-law and the 2 granddaughters. Kids enjoyed the 2 pools and playground. Only problem was slightly low voltage. Ran just over 105 volts and didn't use both AC and electric hot water at the same time. Very convenient to Niagara Falls attractions. Tips for other Campers:

Canadian side of falls at night illuminated and fire works at 10 PM. Niagara Falls State Park (NY) very close. Make sure you have passports to cross border. Took tour from campground. May seem expensive but no parking expense and everything included. Well worth the money. Was able to decide which things we wanted to re-visit over the next few days.

Little Bennett Campground, Clarksburg, Maryland

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Was here earlier in the year (didn't review then) and they were working on leveling sites and widening site entries where needed. Did an excellent job. I needed 1 "board" to level side to side. Come here as often as I can because of family in the area. All sites in the "RV loop" are full hook up with 50 amp service. Power and water pressure good. Pretty good OTA antenna reception. Now open year round. Camp store pretty good. Shopping & restaurants close by. Post office good for getting mail forwarded. Laundry will take either coins or credit cards. We camped at Little Bennett Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Close enough to visit Gettysburg and Harper's Ferry. Travel into DC via public transportation may take a while but cheaper than parking downtown. If driving to metro station, go early or on weekend to get parking in the lot.

Pine Hill RV Park, Kutztown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Have stayed before several times just for an overnight. Stayed one week this time to visit family in nearby Reading, PA. Very pleased. Laundry a little strange. One washer and dryer in the men's and lady's bathroom each but more than adequate. Was in a 30 amp row, power good. Water pressure a bit low but OK. Not far from Allentown to the east and Reading to the west. Little college town of Kutztown pretty neat. Worth wandering through. A couple of "dive bars" very close to campground. Both had pretty good food and reasonable prices. Camp store pretty well stocked. Will continue coming back if passing through or visiting family. One thing to watch out for... When you leave the campground, vision to your left is limited by a hill. Oncoming traffic may not see you and you may not see them. Just be careful. We camped at Pine Hill RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Saratoga RV Park, Gansevoort, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Let me start by saying that my review is biased by the absolute terrible layout of my site. Didn't notice any others this bad. At check in, I noticed on the campground map that the angle to get into my site would be pretty tight. Person who checked me in said I wouldn't have any problems. Turned out that it would have been much more than a 90 degree turn to back in. Drove around a loop to come at it from the other way. Up hill back in wasn't too bad except for tree roots. Sewer and water/electric at opposite ends of the site. To be able to use sewer, needed a 25' electric extension cord and an extra 50' water hose. Luckily, I carry both. Only had a 25' cable for TV so I decided to use the antenna. Reception (probably because the site was in the trees) was so bad, I decided to go out and buy a 50' coax cable. Only got one cable channel which said it was an emergency channel. Asked the office about it and was told that if I wanted cable tv to contact the cable company to subscribe. I put up with the iffy OTA reception. On the brighter side, caught up on my reading and the dog liked the chipmunks. Power was pretty stable but water is cloudy. Campground in process of remodeling office so no accessories or supplies. Also appear to be adding some new sites. Had it not been for my site, would have given the campground a higher rating. Very nice area. Shopping/restaurants fairly close. When leaving the campground heading south, take a wide right turn. Pretty deep hole along the road. We camped at Saratoga RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Gulf station very close to campground entrance has easy access to pumps. Gas & Diesel available. 10 cents extra for credit. More history than I could fit into 4 days. Restaurants and shopping relatively close. Have stayed before but usually just as an overnite.

Duck Puddle Campground, Nobleboro, Maine

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

My site was grass, not too bad as far as side to side level. Up hill sewer run was a challenge. Roads were pretty bad but they were trying to fill in the pot holes. Power was good until they got busy on memorial day weekend. Voltage dropped to 105. Beautiful area. We camped at Duck Puddle Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Savannah South KOA, Richmond Hill, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Staff was pleasant & helpful. Roads fairly narrow but more than manageable. But they are 2-way. Need to watch out when leaving campground you may meet someone else trying to leave at the same time.
Trash picked up daily and plenty of park presence by staff.
Good electric. Our site had the services at the back of the site & we needed 25' of sewer hose. Had stayed here before just for an overnight, convenient to I-95 and stayed 3 nights this time. Lake had many swans, geese and other water fowl. Will saty again. Didn't have enough time to see all we wanted to do in the area. We camped at Savannah South KOA in a Motorhome.
