Belden Hill Campground, Harpursville, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is a regular overnight stop for us as we travel between NH and almost any location and it is a favorite. It is always well groomed, with flowers growing in the office area and beautiful peaceful fields next to the sites. We stay in the same area of the campground every time which is the front section near the office. The campground is easy access from I-88 and we can navigate the front sites with our 45ft motorhome with truck attached. There are young trees in between these front sites but they have gotten big enough and pruned so that they were not a problem when getting into the sites. Roads throughout the campground and the sites are hard packed gravel and there is a small grass area between sites. The sites look level but there is a bit of a slope to the area which usually brings the right front up pretty high, but level using the jacks. Water and sewer are at each end of the site and power is in the middle. Everything works well. Wi-Fi is a bit slow but usable for easy internet surfing. Satellite reception good with a couple OTA channels. There is no designated dog area but there is plenty of room for a peaceful walk with the dog. There are plenty of areas for the kids to play. We did not use the laundry or bath areas so cannot comment on this. Office staff are very friendly and helpful both over the phone and in person. We will definitely be back on our next adventure. We camped at Belden Hill Campground in a Motorhome.

Shipshewana Campground - South Park, Shipshewana, Indiana

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is easy access from I-80/90 and US20 with gravel roads throughout and sites that are gravel. The CG is centrally located in Shipshewana, a unique small town swathed in Amish and Mennonite culture. The campground is relatively large and nicely kept with carefully mowed lawns and older but nicely kept facilities. It is tucked between a couple of local farms so has a very quiet and peaceful vibe to it. We drive a 45 foot MH with a tow and were able to easily navigate into, through, and out of the campground. The sites are gravel and level with grass between with reasonable distance to the next site. Most sites are very long, easily 100 ft. Utilities are placed mid-site and work well; water pressure is good. Our site and most sites would have good satellite reception although a few are tree covered and there are several OTA channels available. Wi-Fi is acceptable for easy internet surfing, not quite good enough for streaming, particularly if there are any number of folks in the park. We did not use the laundry or rest rooms so cannot comment on that. There is an unfenced dog walk area which is nice and no specific play area for the kids. We have stayed at this campground previously and would stay here again. We camped at Shipshewana Campground - South Park in a Motorhome.

Tween the Lakes Campground (formerly Exit 31 RV Park), Grand Rivers, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is easy access from I-69 with gravel roads throughout and pull through sites that have a 60ft concrete pad. The campground is built on the side of a hill and the roads are a bit narrow and were quite rutted from recent rains which made navigation in the park a bit tricky. The CG is small and although the pads are concrete, the entrance ramps up onto the pad are quite steep in some areas. We were fortunate to have a site where the entrance up onto the pad was a bit more gradual in each direction. Even though the campground is tight, we were able to get our 45ft motorhome and tow onto the pad and out of the park in the morning without disconnecting the truck. The concrete pads are nice and the utilities are mid-site, modern and work well. The sites are close together with not much room between them. We got good satellite reception, and several OTA channels. We did not try Wi-Fi and currently there is no laundry or shower facility. There is no office right at the park; if you have a reservation they send you an email with your site number. One can then pay online or there are staff who come by your site to get your payment. There is no specific dog park or play area. I am not sure we would stay at this campground again as I feel we were a bit lucky getting in and out without difficulty. If one had a shorter coach or a trailer/fifth wheel this could be a good spot. Not much right at the campground but the area is a big recreation spot. We camped at Tween the Lakes Campground (formerly Exit 31 RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Frog Hollow Campground RV Park, Grenada, Mississippi

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is easy access from I-55 with gravel roads throughout and sites that are either gravel or grass. The CG appears quite old with old-fashioned light poles and buildings. The grounds are rather pretty although they had not been mowed for some time when we were there. We drive a 45 foot MH with a tow and were able to get into, through, and out of the campground with the toad attached and without difficulty. Our site was gravel and long enough to accommodate our coach. It was fairly level although most sites in the park have a front to back slope. The utilities are dated and placed mid site. Electric worked well, they required a brass fitting on the water due to the high pressure, and sewer was toward the back. We were able to receive a good satellite signal, there is no OTA reception. We did not try the Wi-Fi as the receptionist at the office told us it would not work. We did not use the laundry or rest rooms so cannot comment on that. There is no designated dog park although the campground is quite large and lots of grassy areas for walking a dog. There were no obvious areas designed as children play area. The receptionist in the office was very nice both on the phone and in person. We were also escorted to our site. This park is clearly not a destination spot but there are not a lot of options in this area of Mississippi and this park is OK for getting off the road for the night. Although it is right next to the highway, there is a tree barrier that is quite effective in keeping the noise level down. We camped at Frog Hollow Campground RV Park in a Motorhome.

Frog City RV Park, Duson, Louisiana

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is easy access from I-10 located just off the highway. This makes for some highway noise from the campground but nothing really annoying. The campground has paved roads though-out which are quite worn in some areas. We drive a 45ft motorhome with a tow and for this stay, we removed the tow at the office. We easily navigated into our site and out of the campground upon leaving. They have three specific sites that are a bit longer than the others specifically for 45ft coach. The sites are gravel and mostly level. The utilities are placed just past midpoint and worked well. Nice picnic tables in the yard area. There is a second sewer connection to the rear of the site. Good satellite reception from our site although there are trees located through the campground and I imagine reception would not be possible from some sites. We got good local OTA channels. The Wi-Fi was pretty good, a bit slow on first connecting but then acceptable; not good enough for streaming but good for basic surfing. We did not use their cable service, laundry or shower facilities. There is no specific dog park and dog owners walked their dogs around the perimeter of the park where grass is available. There is a small pool at the office that looked very clean. The office receptionist was very friendly and helpful. We got escorted to our site and cookies as well. We would stay here again. We camped at Frog City RV Park in a Motorhome.

Riverbend Motorcoach Resort, LaBelle, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $100.00
Overall Rating:

RiverBend is 17 miles east of I-75 in Fort Myers in the little town of LaBelle. Roads throughout the resort are paved and wide and each site is roomy with a concrete or paver pad. There is a staging area in the front of the resort for removing the car or trailer. Pads are level and utilities are mid site of the pad. Power and water pressure good. They are in the process of installing high speed Wi-Fi at each site which will be up and fully operational late summer. Satellite reception good and OTA good. Verizon signal two to three bars in our location. We have traveled across most of the country in our motorhome and can honestly say this is the nicest location at which we have stayed. One reason is that the sites are nicely spaced with lots of private space, and the other is the residents who reside there. During peak season there are endless activities and really friendly folks all around. They have a pool and club house, a lovely clubhouse by the river, and an activity center for crafts as well as their welcome center A really spectacular spot. Will definitely return. We camped at Riverbend Motorcoach Resort in a Motorhome.

Lake City Campground & Resort, Lake City, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is easy access from and one mile north of I-10. Internal roads are paved as are some site pads, others are gravel and grass. The CG in general looks to be an old KOA but is in generally good condition. The grounds were recently mowed and flowers were staring to grow near the office. There are many permanent sites in the CG and most are well kept with a few that are disheveled. We drive a 45 foot MH with a tow and were in the row of sites that are just to the right of the office which are long, level pull-throughs. We were able to get into, through, and out of the campground with the tow attached without difficulty. The site was older asphalt and level. The utilities are placed mid site with the sewer connection just a bit more to the rear of the pad. Electric was good and the campground in general has low water pressure. In this area, each site has a large mature tree mid site which provided some shade but did not prevent good satellite reception. We could not get any local channels OTA and did not try their cable. Wi-Fi was adequate for very gently internet surfing but slow for more complex sites. We reverted to use of our Verizon hot spot which had a two-bar signal. We did not use the laundry or rest rooms so cannot comment on that. There is a designated unfenced area for walking the dog and there is a pool and play area for the kids. We have stayed at this campground before and will stay here again when in the area. We camped at Lake City Campground & Resort in a Motorhome.

Catherine's Landing, Hot Springs, Arkansas

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is a bit of a drive from the interstate and one is sent directions with a reservation which should be followed. One travels through residential areas to get to the campground and the route is not intuitive. Once at the campground, the internal roads are paved, wide, and easy to maneuver. The campground is lovely as it is along the Ouachita River, has green space, and is well maintained. We stayed in the newer section of the campground where the pull-through sites are paved, wide, and long. We drive a 45ft MH with a tow and were easily able to navigate the campground. The utilities are placed mid site and worked well. Satellite and Verizon reception good; we did not try OTA or Wi-Fi. The welcome center is very nice and the laundry is clean and well kept. There are lots of activities for kids and families alike and there is a designated dog park, although there are plenty of areas to give the dog a nice walk. Staff were great and we hope to return here in the future. We camped at Catherine's Landing in a Motorhome.

Bella Terra RV Resort, Foley, Alabama

Overall Rating:

We have stayed at Bella Terra several times as we have friends in Gulf Shores and this is a wonderful resort in which to stay. It is a bit of an easy drive from I-10 but the campground is clean and well maintained with roads that are paved, wide, and easy to navigate. We drive a 45 foot motorhome and easily navigate the park. Sites are paved and many have various amenities depending on the owner. Utilities are mid site and work well, sewer a bit to the back. Club house and pool very nice, they have a great work-out room. Good Sat and OTA reception, we usually use our hot spot for wi-fi. We will return when next in the area. Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park, Vicksburg, Mississippi

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is easy access from I-20 with paved roads and sites. The campground is small and dated with sites that are very tight, short, narrow, and with trees that encroach on almost every site. There are very few sites within the park that are level. We drive a 45ft motorhome and had great difficulty navigating the park with the car disconnected. It was difficult getting into and out of sites, although getting into and out of the campground was OK. We were unable to get into the first site assigned because of trees so moved to a second site that was only slightly better and not level. We were traveling with another coach who was also unable to get into their site and moved to another, which they could only access after moving a semi-permanent trash receptacle. The sites are asphalt with grass between and utilities are mid-site and work well. We did not use the rest room or laundry so cannot comment on that. There is no designated play ground or dog area although there is an area of grass and trees to the rear of the campground. The office receptionist was minimally helpful and never cracked a smile. We will never stay here again. The campground might be OK for rigs and campers that are smaller if one does not mind being on a site that is not level. However, I cannot recommend it. We camped at Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park in a Motorhome.

Big Texan RV Ranch (formerly Amarillo Ranch RV Park), Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is relatively easy access from I-10. Given the pattern of the frontage road, one must go past the campground on I-10 and backtrack to the campground. The campground has a unique layout with paved interior roads and sites that are grass, dirt, or gravel and arranged in a pattern that seems a bit random. We drive a 45 foot MH with a tow and were able to navigate into, through, and out of the campground with the tow attached. Out site was a pull-through in a dirt area just to the right of the office. We were able to exit easily as the space ahead of us was empty but it would have been much more difficult otherwise. The utilities are placed mid-site and work well. Satellite, OTA, and Verizon reception good. We did not use the Wi-Fi, laundry, or rest rooms so cannot comment on that. There did not seem to be a designated area for kids to play and there was a small dog park. Although staff were helpful, we would try one of the other campgrounds in the area the next time through. We camped at Big Texan RV Ranch (formerly Amarillo Ranch RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Santa Fe Skies RV Park, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is fairly easy access from I-25. It is a short distance from the highway through a partially residential neighborhood and into the CG through a narrow entrance. Given the region, the CG is mostly gravel and dirt with scrub brush and cactus throughout the grounds. The entrance road is paved and the roads within the campground are gravel. We drive a 45 foot MH with a tow and were able to get into and out of the campground with car attached. We disconnected the car at the registration area to navigate the campground. Given our length, it would be very difficult to get into and out of a site with the car attached. The sites are gravel and narrow with a small concrete patio. Utilities are mid site and work well. Satellite reception, OTA reception, and Verizon signal good. We did not use the Wi-Fi, laundry or rest rooms so cannot comment on that. There is a designated dog park and it is a bit difficult to walk dogs in the campground in general. There are many area of burrs that tend to stick to the dog's pads. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This is our second stay at the CG and we would stay here again. We camped at Santa Fe Skies RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fort Collins / Lakeside KOA , Fort Collins, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second stay at the campground located west of Fort Collins with fairly easy access from the north and access from the east and south through urban driving. All roads to access the campground are paved and fairly wide so it is not difficult from any direction. Roads and sites within the campground are gravel, with some sites having a concrete pad for parking. The CG is nicely maintained with lots of activities for children and families. We drive a 45 foot MH and were able to navigate the park without difficulty. We removed the car at the office when checking in but attached the car at the site when leaving. The sites are fairly close with grass between and level. Utilities are mid site, power was good and water pressure was low at times. Although there are trees around, we were able to get good satellite reception and also several OTA stations. Wi-Fi was often difficult to connect but when we did get on, it worked pretty well. We did not use any of the restrooms or laundry room so cannot comment on those facilities. There is a designated dog park area and plenty of room around the entire campground for walking the dog. We camped at Fort Collins / Lakeside KOA in a Motorhome.

The campground is easy access from I-80 with gravel roads throughout and sites that are gravel. The CG is located in an area that can be quite windy and that made it very dusty while we were there. We drive a 45 foot MH and we were able to navigate the CG without difficulty, although our coach just fit into the site we were assigned. We removed the car after we pulled into our site and parked across the street. The sites and surrounding area are gravel and level. There are a few fences placed throughout the sites which helps a bit with the blowing wind. The utilities are placed mid-site and worked well. Satellite reception was good. We did not try OTA channels and also did not use the Wi-Fi. Verizon signal was adequate for gentle internet surfing. We did not use the laundry or rest rooms so cannot comment on that. Willard Bay State Park - Willow Creek Campground (no hookups), Willard, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is easy access from I-15 with paved roads and sites throughout the campground. Everything was quite dry while we were there so it was a bit dusty and windy. The CG is constructed so that each site is fairly private with a gravel patio and area on the awning side. We drive a 45 foot MH and were able to navigate the campground with no difficulty. Because we were staying a couple of nights, we removed our tow before going into the campground. Sites are level and the utilities are placed mid site and worked well. There was a tree to the front of our coach that needed trimming as we scraped a bit when leaving the site. Our spot was among the trees but we did get satellite reception. We did not try any OTA channels. We did not use the rest rooms so cannot comment on that. The mosquitoes were horrendous so detracted a bit from being able to enjoy the location. We camped at Willard Bay State Park - Willow Creek Campground (no hookups) in a Motorhome.
