Lake Bob Sandlin State Park, Pittsburg, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice State Park. Asphalt road ways, concrete pads on all sites (although some of them appeared to be fairly short and/or not that level). Most, if not all sites, had a separate grass pad for tents. Sites also had wooden picnic tables on concrete pads, and metal grated fire pits. Campground has been carved out of the forest so heavily treed. Excellent spacing between sites, our site was very secluded. 30 Amp power worked for us, would have been nice to have 50 Amp (perhaps we selected the wrong loop?). Good water pressure on site as well. One restroom with showers between two loops. One garbage bin per two loops. Only one dumping station (with access for two units/time) for the entire campground. Free firewood available at the front gate (but, the campground did accept donations). Very friendly park staff. Loops were frequently patrolled by staff personnel. Overall, an excellent campground. Would definitely return. We camped at Lake Bob Sandlin State Park in a Motorhome.

Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Huge footprint. Self serve check-in after hours (7 or 8 PM). Paved roadways and long flat concrete sites. Minimal vegetation between well spaced sites. Clean and crisp presentation. Independent washrooms/showers. No picnic tables or fire rings. Good wifi. This RV park (not a resort) defines overnight stay. Well done. Would definitely stay again. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Glendo Lakeside RV Park, Glendo, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Not bad access from I-25. A newer campground. Clean presence. Red crushed rock throughout. Very little vegetation. Looked like mostly pull throughs. Sites fairly level. Acceptable privacy. Wifi did not work. Perfect for an overnight stay. Obviously, a destination campground for boaters/fishermen. Spartan campground store with attached bar. Would stay again. We camped at Glendo Lakeside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Campground St. Regis, St. Regis, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Acceptable access from I-90. Some traffic noise. Big rig friendly. Gravel roads and fairly flat sites. Mature setting/huge trees. Good privacy. Nice campground store (w/ local carvings). Cleanest/brightest washrooms I have ever seen. Decent wifi. Picturesque setting. Perfect for overnight stay. Would definitely stay again. We camped at Campground St. Regis in a Motorhome.

Wood Lake RV Park and Marina, Lake Country, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Packed in. Regretfully, most Okanagan Valley campgrounds are like this. Barely big rig friendly because of tight turns, many vehicles, etc. Campground was poorly maintained ... roadways were dusty, grass needed to be mowed, trees needed to be trimmed, undergrowth needed to be thinned out, etc. No place to walk/exercise dogs. No pride. Marina and beach would be positives. Wifi decent. Lots of potential but obviously not much incentive to improve. Definitely would not stay here again. We camped at Wood Lake RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

Potholes State Park, Othello, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Very mature setting. Huge trees. Paved roadways and gravel sites. Lots of grass. Decent privacy. Pod arrangement. Metal picnic tables and fire rings. No wifi. Definitely a destination campground (marine activities). Pricey, as out-of-state surcharge $5 and web reservation $8 were on top of campground fee. Would stay again. We camped at Potholes State Park in a Motorhome.

Take the road directly north of Othello (versus crossing the dam) to access the park. Incredible landscape.

Montpelier Creek KOA, Montpelier, Idaho

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

A picturesque, small footprint campground. A bit pricey though. Barely big rig friendly. Gravel roadways and sites. Typical KOA privacy. Nice fencing, pathways, and mature trees/shrubs throughout. Very engaging owners. Good wifi. Nice pool. Would think this sets the standard for KOA campgrounds. Good for an overnight stay. Definitely a destination campground as well. Would stay again. We camped at Montpelier Creek KOA in a Motorhome.

James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section), Fruita, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Easy access on/off I-70. Very nice state park, with token state entrance fee. Paved roadways and several elbow-access concrete pad sites throughout. Real good privacy. Metal grate picnic tables with timber/tin canopies. Mature vegetation, shrubs, with limited big trees. No wifi internet (drawback). Very clean washrooms; showers were coin operated. Outstanding mountain views. Great for an overnight stay or destination place. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Motorhome.

Mountain View RV Resort, Canon City, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Great location for Royal Gorge area activities. Right on highway, so some traffic noise present. Great views. Small footprint campground. Big rig friendly. Acceptable privacy. Washed rock roadways and sites. Concrete pads for poly picnic table and timber canopy. All brand new. Superb wifi. Campground owners obviously have passion, pride, and a vision for the campground. Many new amenities -- outdoor kitchen, b-ball court, fencing, trees/shrubs, etc. Beginning of a decent campground store. Great for an overnight stay or destination stay for Royal Gorge area. Would stay again. We camped at Mountain View RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Big Texan RV Ranch (formerly Amarillo Ranch RV Park), Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Easy access on/off I-40. But, Interstate and Amarillo airport traffic were evident. Some seasonals, but well maintained. Big rig friendly, drive-through extremely hard packed gravel flat sites. No privacy. Washrooms clean and fairly modern (required access code). Very poor internet, but apparently better in club house. Not a destination campground. Ok for an overnight stay though. We camped at Big Texan RV Ranch (formerly Amarillo Ranch RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Lake Tawakoni State Park, Wills Point, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Not a bad state park. The staff were certainly friendly. Could really use a good underbrush and prior year's leaf clean-up throughout. Picnic tables were showing some wear and tear. Paved roads throughout. Many sites had little grass and a lot of dirt. But all had level concrete pads. Campground store was closed for the season. Firewood had to be purchased about 4 miles down the road from the park entrance. Had to pay the obligatory $5/person entrance fee as well. We would stay here again. We camped at Lake Tawakoni State Park in a Motorhome.

Rocky Point COE, Queen City, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Another very nice COE campground. Paved roads, lots of trees, beautiful views of lake. Some slope to some sites, and trees close to some sites may prevent awnings from being extended. We would stay here again. We camped at Rocky Point COE in a Motorhome.
