West View RV Resort, Dolores, Colorado

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at West View RV Resort for two nights in October. This was in the off season so we were one of about eight units there.

Everything was pretty much perfect. Long flat pull thru site, beautiful and clean bathrooms, spotless laundry room.

The only negative was the Park WiFi which was pretty much useless. We had strong AT&T cell signal so it didn’t matter. We camped at West View RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

West Overlook COE, Iowa City, Iowa

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the Tailwater West section of this campground. (There are at least 4 sections, West Overlook, Tailwater West, Tailwater East and Cottonwood. ) Tailwater West has about 20 sites and seems tailored for big rigs. There are two pull thru sites and the rest are large back-in sites. There is no office at Tailwater West. After arriving, you need to drive over to West Overlook to check in. The dam is right "above" our site and we could hear water rushing by all night. A clean, safe, friendly Corps of Engineers campground. And a great value at $13 using the Senior Pass. We camped at West Overlook COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Mountain Waters Resort Park, Portland Creek, Newfoundland

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here one night on our way from St. Anthony to Twillingate. We had site 18, a long pull thru. The campground is really all about their seasonal customers, but we were able to book a transient site as it was very early in the season. The campground and site itself is nothing special, completely satisfactory for an overnight stay. The real draw for this campground is the beautiful lake and river. You are just steps from the lake and, according to other campers, it is an outstanding salmon fishing lake. We didn't fish but really enjoyed the walk along the lake and the beautiful views. We camped at Mountain Waters Resort Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Peyton's Woods RV Park & Campground, Twillingate, Newfoundland

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Peyton's Woods is a nice base to explore the Twillingate area. The sites are sufficiently wide and deep. The grounds were clean and the staff very friendly. The view from the campsite is gorgeous and we enjoyed walking along the cove. We saw an iceberg one day and a seal swimming in the cover another day. The Peyton's Woods "snack shack" is a very handy food truck type operation at the entrance to the campground but we never had occasion to buy anything there. We only had one minor issue. We had a 30 amp site and had some trouble with low voltage occasionally. Our surge protector caught it so no problem. It tended to happen when we had multiple high draw items going at the same time. We camped at Peyton's Woods RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Georgie's Restaurant is very close and the food is excellent. We also had a great meal at the Canvas Cove Bistro. We did three great hikes in the area, Top of Twillingate, Sleepy Cove and Lower Little Harbour.

This is a very nice state park campground. We stayed in the 700 loop which had large sites and a modern bathroom. Good base of operations to explore this great state park. We camped at Letchworth State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park), Watkins Glen, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Clute Park Memorial Park campground is all about location. The campground is just across the street from the lakeshore. We walked downtown to restaurants and shopping. We also walked to and from Watkins Glen State Park. The campground itself is fine, nothing special or nothing unacceptable. Sites are fairly close together with little to no shade. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is a great one-night stop along I65. Right off the highway but road noise was actually minimal. Easy in-easy out. Level pull-thru sites. Good value. We camped at Texas T Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

All About Relaxing RV Park, Theodore, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

I stayed here one night in November. I wish I was staying longer (such as all winter!). What a great park. Sites are laid out nicely and kept very clean. Bathrooms were VERY nice and spotless. It was a little too cool to use the pool but it looked clean and inviting.

Basically they check you in on the phone, and meet you at the gate when you arrive. No need to stop in the office. Then you are escorted to the site and made to feel very welcome.

Great people, great park. We camped at All About Relaxing RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

It is a short drive into Tillman's Corners for groceries and restaurants. The shrimp po'boy sandwiches at the Shrimp Basket were excellent. BBQ at Dick Russell's was also good.

Munising / Pictured Rocks KOA, Munising, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed at Wandering Wheels before but never again.

Our site offered no privacy. We were in a long row of pull through sites, with alternating pull-through direction. This meant that our trailer door opening side faced the door opening side of the neighboring trailer, so we ended up sharing the small picnic table / fire pit space.

The pool was not open (4th of July week) and by the looks of it had not been open all year.

Wireless service was practically non-existent. You could connect to the service, but it was so slow that it was non-usable. ATT cell service was zero (not the park's fault, but FYI).

The single set of bathrooms was small, dark and dirty.

There was no lighted sign for the park on the highway. I drove past it twice one night, and I knew where it was!

Very low water pressure. I had to unhook from their water system and use water from my tank.

All this for $50 per night. We camped at Munising / Pictured Rocks KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Porcupine Mountain Wilderness State Park / Union Bay Campground, Ontonagon, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We had a beautiful site right on the lake shore. The site was level and grassy, with large slab stones covering a small wet drainage area.

30 amp power at the site but no water hookups. (Water was available about 4 sites away at a shared faucet).

Great sunsets and sunrises over the lake!

Out site was rather narrow (length along the road). It was deep enough to put the trailer perpendicular to the road. It would have been better to put the trailer parallel to the road (as most others did) but the site was too narrow that direction. We camped at Porcupine Mountain Wilderness State Park / Union Bay Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Starlite Classic Campground, Canon City, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at the Starlite Classic Campground in July for one night. The site was shaded, spacious and level. The bathrooms were clean. The owners are great people and work hard to provide a fun unique experience. Although we did not use the pool, it looked clean and inviting. They gave us a couple of great suggestions for outdoor activities. We would stay here again We camped at Starlite Classic Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Geneseo Campground, Geneseo, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice small park. We stayed here one night on our way home. Sites are level and clean, the bathrooms are very clean, and the store is well stocked. We only had one issue. It rained overnight and the next morning the mosquitoes were overwhelming. Spraying for bugs would be helpful. We camped at Geneseo Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Garden of the Gods Campground, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for 3 nights. It is a great location for lots of great activities. Clean campground and bathrooms. Friendly helpful staff. Some nice sites. Many of the sites are packed together tightly. We were first given a site where our trailer door would have been literally 10 feet from the bathroom door (needless to say, we moved). Narrow drives and tight turns make for tricky back- ins. Wi-Fi was useless; it never worked the whole 3 days. We would stay here again due to the great location. We would try to reserve one of the better spots. We camped at Garden of the Gods Campground in a Travel Trailer.
