Cherry Grove Campground, Wolcott, New York

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

When I first pulled in I wasn't happy because the sites are close with no foliage between them. The next door sewer pipe is 5 paces from my step. On the other side the fire ring was pretty close to my slide. That issue notwithstanding, the longer we stayed the more I liked the campground. The pride of ownership is evident everywhere. The owners and seasonal campers were very friendly. The many (more spacious) seasonal sites are neat, orderly and very well maintained. We camped at Cherry Grove Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Niagara is a couple of hour ride and Lake Ontario is about 30 minutes away. There are lighthouses, beaches and a state park all reasonably close. Skaneateles, 40 minutes away, is definitely worth a visit and The Sherwood Inn had the best food we found in the area. There are several wineries in the area. Driving is enjoyable due to minimal traffic and beautiful farms and land in all directions.

Ledgeview RV Park, Lake George, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice mixed-use very well maintained campground. It is a mix of seasonal and short term sites with a variety of RVs from big rigs to teardrops and some small park trailers. Don't let any of that scare you off - all sites and the grounds are very well maintained and the fairly strict rules for long term campers make for a very neat park. While there are pool, rec, and playground facilities as listed, this is a quiet park without a lot of kids. There is a good mix of 30 and 50 amp pull-through and back-in sites. No animals of any kind, inside or outside, are allowed. WiFi is so-so. Work and streaming will be problematic. We camped at Ledgeview RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort, Emporia, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This was just an overnight stop for us. Like others have said, the sites were fine and reasonably level but close together. The train could be heard at the campground but I don't remember it waking me. It served it's purpose but we were not there long enough to evaluate well. I'd stop there again for an overnighter. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $100.00
Overall Rating:

I'm not 100% sure about the price but I'm close. I booked the campground with park passes and when I asked for a breakdown the day we were leaving they "couldn't" give that to me. As I was told by a friend, "It's Disney, nobody does it better but you pay a premium". The site was nice, level with easy back-in access. We were in the 200 loop so we had great walking access to the bus, the marina, the Hoop-De-Do Review and laundry. My favorite experience was after watching the show at the castle in Magic Kingdom we exited the park, walked 30 yards to the marina, immediately board the water taxi that took us on a lovely 10 minute ride to the marina at The Fort. Best departure from a Disney Park ever! We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We spent four nights at The Fort but only had two days of park-hopper passes. The rest of the time we explored the resorts via the monorail, explored the campground, saw a show on the campground property, took a boat ride and watched the fireworks visible from the campground marina. We had a terrific time.

Red Gate Campground & RV Resort, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

For the record I'm not 100% sure of the price but it is close. I was a little disappointed when I first pulled in because the sites are in an open field that along the perimeter do backup to trees. We were here to see Savannah and Tybee Island and would not be spending a lot of awake time at the site so no biggie, really. That and because the sites are big-rig accessible, I had the opportunity to drool over a vintage Liberty MH and a lovely Marathon. When we did have time to explore the other parts of the park, it really is beautiful. My wife also had the chance to engage in her favorite pastime - stalking weddings - as there were two during our time there. Savannah is just minutes away and Tybee is less than 30 minutes with a bit of traffic. The folks in the office were wonderful. We'd stay here again if in the area. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Boston Minuteman Campground, Littleton, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is what I consider a rustic campground. That is not a criticism but it is not one of the cement pads, paved roads, manicured edges type of parks. (Kinda love those too.) It is clean and well maintained. Staff was very nice. The beautiful tall pines surrounding our site along with a night of heavy rain required that I clean off my slide before closing up but the beauty was worth it. We got great use of the stone firepit. Great location for taking the metro into Boston, visiting Salem, Lexington and Concord, etc. One thing my wife commented on is that they had specific information sheets for anything and everything you could think of from transport to food to medical to...anything. This was beyond the normal maps or brochures. They came in very handy. We camped at Boston Minuteman Campground in a Travel Trailer.

You need an app to purchase a ticket into Boston since there are no live people or kiosks at the closest station but, wait until you get on the train. My wife and I both bought regular priced tickets only to be told by the conductor that there are specials that would have saved us money. Metro was very nice. It was not my NJ Transit Northeast Corridor!

Atlantic Oaks Campground, Eastham, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $61.00
Overall Rating:

Our site was cozy but private. There was room for our canopy and rugs but not a lot more before the tall, well filled in bushes which gave very nice privacy from the neighboring site. Being located Mid-Cape this campground is in a perfect location for exploring which I guess explains the price which I thought was a little high for mid to late September when the pool was already closed. The folks in the office were very nice and friendly. Arnold's restaurant is just a short ride/walk on the well paved bike path right behind the park. We would not hesitate to stay there again. I guess Mass doesn't require that sewer pipes be threaded because both Mass campgrounds we were in required me to pile rocks on my sewer hose to keep it in the sewer pipe. I much prefer the security of a threaded pipe. We camped at Atlantic Oaks Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Seaport RV Resort, Old Mystic, Connecticut

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean park with excellent staff. Campground is basically setup with grass islands with back to back parking and trees every few spaces. Some pull-through sites. No sewer but they do have a honey truck either complimentary or for pay depending on the length of stay. Has a nice pool, small mini-golf and playground. Only knock is that I think it may have been a bit overpriced. That said, we stayed for one night but we would not hesitate to stay here again when visiting Mystic which is less than a $10 Uber ride away. We camped at Seaport RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Ledgeview RV Park, Lake George, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This is our second stay here. The park is very, very nice. Our back-in site was comfortably large and level. Pine trees offer nice shade and ambiance but do make a pine needle mess. The gravel/dirt sites make a rug almost a necessity for keeping the inside of our camper clean. If you prefer more sun the new section offer almost 60 additional sites many with less mature trees that give a bright sunny exposure. The park is about 50% seasonal. The rules insure a nice, neat campground. Quite and peaceful, there is some road noise from RT. 149 but it is never intrusive. No pets are allowed so there is never a problem with dogs left to bark in the camper all day. All the typical pool, playground, rec room amenities are available and in excellent condition. We camped at Ledgeview RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

The park is well located to the outlets and Lake George Village. Lake George offers restaurants boat rentals, parasailing, paddle boat cruising, a beach and many shopping opportunities. Plus, the beautiful views of the lake. Fort Anne has many cultural events and great restaurants also. Bolton Landing offers more of the same and we love a nice lunch at the Sagamore. Vermont is just a short drive away with towns like Weston and the Vermont Country Store a beautiful 90-minute drive. This area is one of our "Happy Places" to which we return annually.

Branch Brook Campground, Thomaston, Connecticut

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Maybe a 6.5 right now but I gave the campground a 7 for direction. This is a park in transition. New owners purchased the campground in Feburary of '18 and they have been making major improvements. Even in the week we were here we saw major changes. There is a lot of landscaping and hardscaping going on. The new shower/laundry building is very nice. WiFi is available at the sites if not super fast. Some things like wood decks and stairs are pretty rough but they are on the list to be repaired or replaced. The store is new but there is not much inventory yet. Electricity was an extra metered charge. Sites are pretty close but everybody was very friendly and considerate and we are pretty social anyway. The staff was excellent. There was a mixup in our paperwork and we arrived after the office closed. Ten minutes after calling the posted emergency number someone was there to check us in. There is a pretty busy road adjacent to the campground so traffic noise is noticeable. While not what we would consider a "destination ", we would not hesitate to stay here again when in the area. We camped at Branch Brook Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Ledgeview RV Park, Lake George, New York

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice, quiet park with a combination of pull-through and back-in sites. Our site was large and level. Many sites are shaded with oak and or pine trees. Ours was partially shaded. The park has a pool, playground and game room. While not as full featured as some the other local parks, it is a very nice, well maintained park. Staff was friendly and helpful. I think it is a very good bargain for a very nice park in an awesome area. They are currently working on a new section of sites. No pets allowed. We camped at Ledgeview RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Moose Hillock Campground, Warren, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $72.00
Overall Rating:

This is the most beautiful natural-setting private park we have ever stayed in. As others have said, sites are very spacious, well spaced, packed gravel with picnic table and natural stone fireplace. Rather than being separated by manicured plantings, the foliage is natural. It is like they cut the sites out of the woods but left the foliage in between. Our site was easy to back in to, reasonably level and backed up to a beautiful stream that provided a beautiful sound. Behind the stream was a fairly short but beautiful nature path. The pool is a kid's dream. The park has all the recreational amenities you'd expect. The roads leading to the park are hilly but easily navigated. Why not a "10": no Verizon cell coverage in or around the park and WiFi is only available at the main building and pool. I was pretty close to the main building and have a WiFi booster kit with external antenna so I was able to pull in fair WiFi at my site. Campers without a kit had no WiFi anywhere near me. With no cell coverage I think they should invest in more WiFi towers. The people I spoke to were not happy that they were totally off the communication grid as far as family not traveling with them were concerned. Also, I'm not quite sure why we had to wear paper bracelets the entire time of our stay. They were not removable without cutting them off and cost $10 a day if removed to replace. I'm also not sure why it bothered us so much but we found the requirement to be intrusive. We camped at Moose Hillock Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA, Bar Harbor, Maine

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $89.00
Overall Rating:

To me, this park is hard to review because it is just "OK" until you add the view. The center sites are located in an open grass field. There are a few trees on the perimeter but no foliage in between and the sites are close. The water sites are also very close with detached tow vehicles almost overlapping sites. Water sites don't have sewer but the $$ view on the patio side is classic rocky but easily accessible beautiful Maine coast. When we at the campground we are outside enjoying the view. When inside our RV our chairs are turned around facing our rear window so we can continue to enjoy the view. The office staff was very helpful and the escort made getting into the site easy. The campground is well cared for. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Long Beach RV Resort, Barnegat, New Jersey

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This park is undergoing long needed renovations under new ownership and the effort is paying off. My score is an "8" but I would not be surprised if it is a "9" soon. The buildings are looking good as are the pool and play areas. Gravel sites share utility pedestal area so campers are close on the "business" side while the living side is large with fire pit, charcoal grill and a picnic table. My site was pretty level but did require use of my Anderson leveler. WiFi and the Honey Truck are included. There are no sewer hook-ups. The seasonal area is separate and most sites show signs of long-time residence. We don't live far away so this may well be a twice a year pre and post busy season trip for us. Staff was excellent and very friendly. We camped at Long Beach RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.
