Frankfort Crystal Lake RV Resort, Frankfort, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Fairly new in development. Concrete pads w/patios. Very nice size camp sites, w/e/s all very accessible with good service. Lots of grass, but gravel road into the CG, well maintained. Host was very helpful and friendly. WIFI is good, antenna T.V. was okay. No camping club discounts offered at this time. Steve indicated the CG was too new to establish club relationship. The rate we paid was based on a 4 night stay. Frankfort MI is about 5 miles away with restaurants and touristy type stores, marina and Lake Michigan beach. The CG is functional basically for short term with lots of potential for long term if you are in the area for a lengthy stay. I would recommend this CG and would stay again. We camped at Frankfort Crystal Lake RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Haas Lake Park RV Campground, New Hudson, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Haas Lake is a very big CG with lots of permanent campers of all descriptions, most were well maintained. As mentioned in previous reviews the dirt road about 1/3 of a mile leading into the CG was not a good deal, we experienced a dusty, wash board drive into the CG. Multiple bathrooms are centrally located with laundry, however the big size of the CG, compared to the number of bathroom facilities can be a fair distance from your camp site. The bathroom and shower facilities were very well thought out as to functionality, water pressure, water temp, good lighting and general very good shower stalls, sinks and toilet facilities. Maybe the best we've experienced in our RV travels as to cleanliness and functionality. Golf carts seem to be the norm for both owners, staff and residents, lots of golf cart traffic and lots of dust. This is a destination CG, short term campers seemed to be moved to a remote location in the CG. The CG has a check in time of 4 PM. We arrived about 12:30 on a Sunday with a paid in advance reservation and were advised of the 4 PM check in and asked to return at 4 PM. The CG is a gated park so we parked just outside the gate watching several RV depart for 3+ hours while waiting for the 4 PM check-in. We travel a lot and this was our 1st experience arriving at a CG when the check in time was so late in the day and refusal to park. From our view the CG had spaces, but can only draw attention to travelers the late in the day check in policy that could be an inconvenience when traveling. I would stay again, however I would avoid the CG primarily due to the dirt road and the late check in without any tolerance should a campsite be available. We camped at Haas Lake Park RV Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

South Lyon Michigan close, the New Hudson Bar and Grill was a biker bar, with burgers and beer, not really a true bikers bar was our experience, basically the food was bar food and good.

Gotta Getaway (Formerly Lazy J RV Resort), Bellevue, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice CG, lots of grass and well planned except for the entrance. The sites were not cramped, about 20% permanent campers all were maintained and well kept. Paul the owner is very personable and the CG shows owner pride and concern for his customer. Sewer was not available however an easy access dump station located just before you depart the CG was clean and easy to access. The CG has a very large swimming pool and store that was well stocked. ***Warning, Warning*** The driveway leading into the park is very steep causing the spare tire bracket on the rear bumper to bend upward on my new (6 month old) 5th Wheel. IMPORTANT when pulling into the CG, if your rig is 20 ft or longer DO NOT approach driveway head on, YOU MUST, again... YOU MUST (Pay close attention to this part) approach from a 45 degree angle. I spoke with Paul about the damage to the tire bracket and expressed my concern. He was very accommodating offered to remove the bracket, took it to his shop, straightened the bracket, repainted and remounted the spare tire. I was pleasantly surprised and appreciative. He knows the concerns about the driveway, and my only reason for my less then 10 rating for the CG. My compliments and rating for the owner Paul is an 10+. We would highly recommend this CG for cleanliness, organization, value, customer service is +++ and very pleasant atmosphere. We camped at Gotta Getaway (Formerly Lazy J RV Resort) in a Fifth Wheel.

AA Royal Motel & Campground, North Tonawanda, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

The CG in general is clean and inviting. Asphalt camp sites and many pull thru sites available. Sites are fair size, good sewer/electric/water connection and location. Park is well layed out, clean and maintained EXCEPT for the bathrooms. Bathrooms are centrally located, however in need of repair and could use some cleaning. Men's had one toilet, one shower and one sink. Plywood walls needed repair or replacement, cob webs haven't been touched in a while. WIFI and TV reception, very good. Water pressure and electric service was acceptable. CG location was high point. This is a pleasant CG for traveling, the only negative was the CG bathrooms. A little TLC and cleaning could fix this situation. Rate seems a bit high but would stay here again. We camped at AA Royal Motel & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

CG is really good and clean. Services were well planned and provided sufficient water, electric, sewer and WIFI. No need for long sewer or water hose. Road Signage could be a bit more obvious in size or lighting or potentially additional signage before you get to drive way. Asphalt sites were level and easy to set up 5th wheel. Noted above reference to Olympia Restaurant across the street, excellent food and service.

Misty Mountain Camp Resort, Greenwood, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Well maintained CG. Combination paved and gravel roads. Gravel RV sites, mostly level and combination pull thru and back in sites. Sites are small, you can see what's for dinner in your neighbors RV. The CG was well planned, good location for water, electric and cable, just too many sites for the amount of area. WIFI was excellent, antenna TV has zero reception. Common bathrooms and showers were some of the best I've seen in CG's in a long time. Separate room with sink, toilet and shower, very very clean. CG store well stocked, customer service was very good. The only real negative is the close proximity of the sites. We camped at Misty Mountain Camp Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Ripplin Waters Campground, Sevierville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 3 nights in a 5th Wheel. Sites are nice size with lots of pull through and level back-in sites. Campground was very well maintained and clean. Restrooms and laundry also clean and well maintained. The campground is located just off the main road. The office is easy to spot from the road and the campground itself is located slightly downhill, creating a fairly quit remote feeling. Roads and camp sites are gravel with concrete patios and picnic tables on sites. The office personnel and maintenance person were very friendly and accommodating. The WIFI was a little shaky, but okay for simple emails. The location from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg was good for this visit. We would recommend and absolutely plan to stay on the return trip. We camped at Ripplin Waters Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg within about 8-12 miles. Food fest, ice cream, fudge, taffy, buffets, touristy food places, lots of T-shirt shops etc. Lots of souvenir shops, "resort wear etc" if your into that sort of thing. Good value for the location and good condition of facilities as a whole.

Singing Hills RV Park & Campground, Cave City, Kentucky

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice CG. Sites are mostly gravel with lots of pull-throughs for those that don't back up well. Staff, very friendly and helpful with local restaurants and activities. Grassy sites with fire rings, restrooms and showers had some age, however serviced and maintained very well. Wi-Fi and antenna TV was very good. We live about 125 miles away and were traveling back home and will plan to revisit the area and would absolutely stay at Singing Hills CG again. We camped at Singing Hills RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Scenic River Stop-n-Dock RV Park & Marina (formerly Stop N Dock Marina, Two Rivers, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice, quite older CG. Rate reflects Passport membership. The sites were good size and all the utility hook ups were placed appropriately. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and the WiFi and TV antnna worked very well. This is a resident husband/wife managed CG. The CG could use a little paint and a little ascetic improvements, however overall the facilities and the CG is clean and close to shopping, Lake Michigan and pubs/eateries. We stayed 2 nights and would return. Very nice CG experience. We camped at Scenic River Stop-n-Dock RV Park & Marina (formerly Stop N Dock Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Mountain View Motel and Campground, Buffalo, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This review is focused on the RV sites and not the motel cabins. The RV sites are gravel and level. The WiFi and Cable worked very well and much better than the more expensive campgrounds we've stayed at. The sewer and electrical hook-ups were not located with forethought as to site layouts. The RV sites are all back-in directly from a 2-way city street. The RV sites are located directly along side of a street leading to a small health care facility and emergency room located about ¼ mile from the RV sites. The two bathrooms were dated and lighting dim but “fairly” clean, with peeling paint and not centrally located. The showers were good size, with plenty of water pressure and hot water. The bathrooms were located to better service the cabins or possibly due to property size or limitations that left the RV sites being the farthest away from the two bathrooms and two showers. The "weeds" in the RV sites needed mowing; the picnic table was in need of major repair, the 3-4 campers when we checked in seemed to be resident/long term campers. All the RV sites need maintenance, sewer drains relocated and electrical boxes replaced and repositioned. Site size/width was not uniform and basically needs to be rethought as to RV layout and requirements from small travel trailers to Class A units. Site security was only as good as the commercial neighborhood it is located in, rather than a campground with a defined entrance or pre-planned campground layout. The location along the city street would be better served as an RV storage. Our host was very friendly and helpful. She provided an electrical extension at no charge due to the location of the power supply to our 5th wheel. The cost-value was representative of the overall condition of the campground. We camped at Mountain View Motel and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Governors' RV Park and Campground, Casselton, North Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

I would recommend this CG as an over night stop. The Wi-Fi, water and electric all worked well. The sites and roads are all gravel, level with a mix of pull-through and back-in sites. We've been on the road for almost 3 months. The sites here are good size and the loop road is plenty wide enough to maneuver any size RV. The bathrooms/laundry were clean and convenient to the CG. The washers seemed a little expensive at $3 per load. Easy on and off the highway. All things considered, we would stay here again. We camped at Governors' RV Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

St. Cloud Campground & RV Park, Saint Cloud, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful campground. Well run, managed and maintained. The CG layout is well planned, the sites are nice size, plenty of shade trees, lots of grass, family and pet friendly. Wi-Fi was good, and the water, sewer and electric hookups were well positioned for the sites that I looked at. Mostly gravel sites, level and mostly pull-through. The laundry and showers were immaculate, good size and clean even on Labor Day Weekend. This is a destination CG, but I would highly recommend when you are in the St Cloud area regardless of the length of your stay. Very nice. We camped at St. Cloud Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Old West RV Park, Reed Point, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Very pleasant stay. Close to I-90 and a very quaint little town of Reed Point, MT. The park seemed to have mostly long term campers, but all looked neat and well maintained. The bathrooms, showers and laundry were exceptionally clean. We had full hookups to include cable and Internet. Both worked very well. The local saloon/grill is in walking distance and has a lot of character. Recommend if nothing more than to take a couple of pics and drink a coke at the saloon. This is not a destination campground however if you know the area, I'm sure their are some hiking and sightseeing to pursue. We would stay again! Passport America discount applied. Excellent value. Absaroka Bay RV Park, Cody, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean and well maintained campground. Most all site were pull-through sites. We saw big Class A motor homes and a few pop ups. Most all the sites were gravel with grassy patches between. The bathrooms were very clean and well maintained and serviced. The lady that check us in was very friendly, and knowledgeable about the area. Also helpful as to local scenery, hiking and driving. The only reason I rated 9 rather than a 10, sites were small but remember you are in a tourist town, with lots to see and do. We have stayed in other campgrounds where the sites were even smaller without much to do other than to sit and watch your neighbor set up or take down. Very good Internet too. We stayed for 7 days and would stop again. 50 miles from Yellowstone East gate, plenty of restaurants in Cody, shopping and entertainment. We camped at Absaroka Bay RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Red Barn RV Park, Tea, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Red Barn is an older park, fairly well maintained, but seemingly primarily occupied by seasonal long term campers. Those sites were very well maintained, decorated, and good size. Short term lots extremely close. My neighbor was parked with barely enough room to walk between units. Gravel lots w/concrete pads. WiFi was non existent for our site location. Owner acknowledged weak WiFi signal. Park located close to Sioux Falls shopping, dining and entertainment. We stayed 2 nights; based on lot size and zero WiFi, would probably only stay if nothing else available in the area. We camped at Red Barn RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

On-Ur-Wa RV Park, Onawa, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent+ RV park and management. Very clean facilities to include, restrooms, showers and park cleanliness. Owner pride is evident. The owners were professional, customer focused, very pleasant, helpful and accommodating. Location to I-29 near by, without highway noise. Close to dining options to include DQ for your ice cream niche. Strongly recommend short term or long term when in the area. We will stop by again if passing through. We only stayed one night due to our schedule. Not much going on in this part of the state, but the RV park should be a consideration next time you're in the area. Very well run... My compliments to the owners! We camped at On-Ur-Wa RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
