W.H. Lyon Fairground, Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

A part of the entrance road (about one block) is a huge rut filled gravel surface so go slow. The campground host escorts you to a site. We arrived to find 75 RVs lined up along the fence line of the campground. They were all pipeline workers but the host parked us far away from them next to the grandstands where we had full hookups and a pull-through. Only three other RVs were in that area and we were not crowded. Easy to find off I-29. Some jet aircraft noise but only once (near airport). We camped at W.H. Lyon Fairground in a Motorhome.

Red River State Recreation Campground, East Grand Forks, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is our second 5 day stay at this park. It continues to be one of the best campgrounds we have stayed in and is very popular so reservations are recommended. It is very close to major restaurants and entertainment and the city pool. Huge sites with full hookups and almost all pull-throughs and very far apart. We camped at Red River State Recreation Campground in a Motorhome.

AOK Campground and RV Park, Saint Joseph, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This park by itself is very good with no complaints. The management is friendly and accommodating. But the 1/2 mile of dusty white chalk gravel road needed to access it is terrible and I will not stay here again after staying here twice. My towed vehicle and the rear half of my motorhome and hitch were completely covered in this dust which was very thick and which the morning dew turned to a cement like mixture. I am still working on trying to get this goop out of all the cracks and crevices. Use of a watering truck a couple of times a day would keep this nuisance down I would think. We camped at AOK Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Victorian Acres Campground, Nebraska City, Nebraska

Overall Rating:

An overnight stay only. Very well maintained park with ample trees but I think the overnighters are parked in the full sun sites. No complaints about anything. Will stay here again. We camped at Victorian Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

EZ Daze RV Park, Southaven, Mississippi

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park, easy to find, paved roads and pads, hookups in good condition. Pull-through pads slanted for easy ingress/egress. Only minus is the lack of trash dump convenient to the campers. Must trek to a dumpster in far corner of property. Good dog walk area with cleanup bags provided. FedEx plane noise in early AM is distracting (Memphis is FedEx hub). We camped at EZ Daze RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Thompson State Recreation Area, Lake Preston, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

This campground was a total surprise to us - really pretty on the shores of a very large lake with sites well spaced on level gravel pads. The whole place looks new but it is several years old and very well maintained. Electric on all sites (50 & 30 amp). No sewer or water on sites but there are four sewer dumps, water and a fish cleaning station in a large paved parking lot. Boat launch and tent sites as well as five cabins are also part of the park. Very dark at night but a campground host makes frequent passes. We arrived on a Sunday evening and the campground had been full that weekend but there were only about five coaches there when we arrived. The entry is about 3 miles off the main highway (US 14) on a paved road that had a couple of breakups. The breakups were washboard when we came in but had been bladed and temporarily repaired by the time we went out the next day. All roads on the campground were in excellent condition. There is also a marked swimming beach. We will return here for a longer stay. We camped at Lake Thompson State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Red River State Recreation Campground, East Grand Forks, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful, clean, well kept state campground. Most sites have full hookups. Most sites are pull thru with more than enough space for big rig and towed vehicle. Nicely treed. Spacing between sites is the most I have ever seen insuring privacy. Well kept showers and restroom facilities. Wi-Fi on two buildings but trees block access to many sites. Many sites satellite friendly despite trees. Easy walking distance to downtown restaurants, sports store and multi-screen theater. Lots of grass kept well mowed and trees vary from very young to very old (over 140 years according to caretaker). Located next to Red River of the North and surrounded by flood control levee on two sides - keeping noise down. Reservations advised but individual site photos and reservation info is online under Minnesota Parks site. Some sites are not reservable - first come, first served. Very busy on summer weekends. Two week stay limit. We camped at Red River State Recreation Campground in a Motorhome.
