Tucumcari KOA, Tucumcari, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We stay here about once a year as an overnight stop. We are very pleased with it. Sites are entered from both directions putting the utilities between the RVs facing in the opposite direction. This eliminates opening your onto the sewer connection. You do share the island with your neighbor on the drivers side. Be friendly. You are still on the high plains so there is plenty of sunshine. Wids can come up very quickly, do not leave awning unattended. We camped at Tucumcari KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Amarillo KOA, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This park provided everything we needed. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Yes it is near the airport and the train tracks. you can hear both when you are OUTSIDE. We, 2 adults and 2 teenagers, were never bothered by the noise. This park is on the plains of Texas so there is plenty of sunshine. Sites are fairly close together but still room o fully extend slides on both side. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Peach Country RV Park, Stonewall, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a park we have watched since they started scraping ground. We finally decided to try it. A no frills RV park with large sites and adequate shade. Utilities were good and OTA TV provided national networks for news and weather. Centrally located for the many winerys as well as the LBJ Ranch State and national park. Sites varied in size from adequate to very large. Plenty of room for 5er and truck with some space leftover. We camped at Peach Country RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Fredericksburg, Texas KOA, Fredericksburg, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $84.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice KOA with large level sites and some large shade trees. The sites are long and wide and gravel. Normally a staff member guides you into your site and offers some assistance. This time the guide drove through the site and was gone before I was out of the truck. Not sure what is going on. We have stayed here many times and have enjoyed it very much. Now they have an electric gate that is very narrow and problematic in operation. This time we had our two 13 year old grandkids with us. I had made reservations on my cell phone and apparently misunderstood when he quoted the rates. On check in I was shocked: $15.00 PER NIGHT PER CHILD! Two nights: $168.00 total.

Everything works well, but there seemed to be more patches than repairs.

My site was long enough but not entirely usable due to slides conflicting with multiple utility pedestals. We camped at Fredericksburg, Texas KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Maverick Ranch RV Park at Lajitas Resort, Lajitas, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent RV park. Large spaces with excellent hookups. Club house and pool nice and clean. This part of a larger resort with amenities extended to those staying at Maverick Ranch. Things to be aware of: (A) you are in the desert. (B) Try to arrange a site that has your door facing east to avoid afternoon sun. (C) wind comes up very fast. Do not leave awnings out unattended. (D) This is a dark community. Outside lights off at 9:00 pm, enjoy the stars they are great.
WI-FI is good, cable is acceptable. This is by far the nicest RV park usable for visiting Big Bend Parks. We camped at Maverick Ranch RV Park at Lajitas Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

American RV Resort, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is our park of choice when in Albuquerque. Long spacious paved pads surrounded by gravel. No Shade. Older part of the park has shade trees, but the sites are smaller and closer together. Didn't really use WiFi or cable, so the best I can say is they were acceptable. This is on the I-40 access road, but we were not bothered by any noise. It is easy in, easy out. There is a Camping World across the highway for emergencies. It is on the far west side of town so you get a good view of the mountains. The breakfast is more than adequate for a pair of 12 year olds, if you want them hyped on sugar as you pull out. We have stayed here many times. We camped at American RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Grand Canyon Railway RV Park, Williams, Arizona

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for the second time. We had our twelve year old twin grand children with us. This is a parking lot with hook ups. The convenience factor of the hotel amenities and the train ride to the Grand Canyon negate any bad things about the park except the staff and the prices at the store. $4.00 for a bag of ice is way beyond the limits. The RV park is nice though the sites are close together. (Remember you are here to see the canyon.) we booked a package that included a train to the canyon, lunch and a tour of the canyon. HIGH convenience factor. Walking distance of old Williams, route 66, old west gunfights. This was our second stay here and we knew what we were getting. CONVENIENCE FACTOR is very high. Pool is at the hotel and is salt water--be prepared.

Shuttle is great since all amenities are at the hotel.

This is the only way we would do the Grand Canyon with kids. We camped at Grand Canyon Railway RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Fredericksburg, Texas KOA, Fredericksburg, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent park. Gravel sites most have plenty of room. We stay here when we are in the hill country. Good location for visiting Johnson City, Luckenbach, Pedernales State Park, Many wineries and a wonderful wild flower farm. Staff is very accommodating and helpful.

The park has two sides divided by a wet weather creek (yes Virginia there is a bridge). The back side has large trees to provide shade from the Texas summer sun. The front--- not so much. Still a great place to relax. We camped at Fredericksburg, Texas KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Sky Mountain Resort RV Park, Chama, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Great park. Owners are great and very helpful. Bbeautiful view. When you park other campers come out to watch the show then take turns making sure you get every thing set up just right. If you don't have something that they think you need they will loan it to you. Every one is friendly and works to make sure you enjoy your self. Camped there before and will camp there again. WiFi worked fine. This is a small park so make your reservations early. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
