Deerwood RV Park, Eugene, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

A beautifully maintained park with a professional and friendly office staff. Much depends on the site - the back-in sites on the exterior of the loop are shady with a large grass area and a couple of chairs. No fires allowed and no picnic tables furnished. WiFi worked well, and Verizon cell/data were strong. Ask for a satellite friendly site due to the trees. The cable was analog and fuzzy, but OTA antennae will receive the network channels. A drawback is the one-way, one lane loop; someone hooking/unhooking a tow or having trouble backing in can hold up other vehicles for quite some time. The rate is a bit high, but the location, just a short drive to downtown Eugene, is a big selling point. We camped at Deerwood RV Park in a Motorhome.

Preferred RV Resort, Pahrump, Nevada

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for monthly stay. We enjoyed this park - friendly people, great location in the "heart" of town, and excellent facilities. Large recreation center with pool, sauna, billiard room, and library. Relaxing Koi pond next to horseshoe and shuffleboard courts. Sites are reasonable level, gravel, and long enough for tow to be parked, and most have shade. The park WiFi was excellent, Verizon cell/data were strong, and although no cable TV, there were ample OTA channels and clear view of satellites from most sites. Dusty when windy, and it's almost always windy here. The entry booth often is overwhelmed by new arrival check-ins and visits from residents and can result in delays in entry to the park. We camped at Preferred RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Calico Ghost Town & Campground, Yermo, California

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for park fee plus $7 reservation fee. We had looked forward to staying here but were disappointed. We chose what looked like the largest site available with full hookups, but it didn't live up to expectations since most of the site was rutted and on a slope way beyond our ability to level. After maneuvering far to the right of the site, we were able to level side to side but the uphill slope meant we couldn't level without our rear wheels being off of the ground. The water fixture had two faucets, but one was broken off and the other didn't work. In fairness, the park maintenance fixed it within an hour.

Very crowded on a Friday night with lots of noise from campers coming in late. Verizon cell/data was good, and there were no obstructions to the satellite. We camped at Calico Ghost Town & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

As for the "ghost" town: it's largely a collection of shops masquerading as original 1890 buildings, but in a picturesque setting. In fairness, it looks like a great place for kids, but not so much for an overnight stay.

Happy Time RV Park, Dunnigan, California

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Tired, run down, and with lots of permanent residents, many of whom seem to have most of their possessions stacked outside. Trash can was overflowing, roads are potholed, and the interstate noise is considerable. But, the folks were friendly and the hookups, except cable TV worked well. Level, gravel pull-thrus are staggered, with no table or fire ring at our site. No WiFi, but good Verizon cell/data, and no obstructions to satellite. Easy access to the interstate and truck stop make this an acceptable overnight stay. We camped at Happy Time RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stafford RV Park and Campground, Scotia, California

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Check in was with the friendly owner, and due to the heavy rains, the host took us to one of the seasonal sites with 50A power and sewer. Level grass and gravel, the site was tight but OK for one night. The park looks worn and could use updating, but the folks were very friendly and with the PA discount the price was very reasonable. Good WiFi, Verizon Cell/data, but no cable TV. Noticeable noise from the highway, but otherwise quiet at night. We camped at Stafford RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Robbins Nest RV Park, Bandon, Oregon

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is based on monthly stay. As long-time full timers, we're always looking for a perfect park, and this is as close as it gets. It starts with the owners; friendly, helpful, and concerned with the quality of your stay. The location is perfect; three miles from the center of the picturesque town of Bandon and convenient to the beach. At night, you can hear the surf pounding in the distance. The sites are long, level pull-thrus with table, and the hookups are conveniently located. The park is along Highway 101, but the is fenced for privacy and noise reduction. The community room is furnished with TV, washer/dryer, game table, lending library and lots of local information. For once, we had an entire stay with strong, consistent WiFi, along with good Verizon cell and data. The park furnishes the equipment free for digital HD cable with multiple channels, and access to TV satellites is easy. Not a resort, just a great place to stay with great owners who take an interest. We'll be back. We camped at Robbins Nest RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Bandon has a number of great shops and restaurants. Don't miss Cranberry Sweets, where you can graze on samples until your blood sugar peaks. Face Rock Creamery has house-made cheeses and huge helpings of ice cream - get the "childs" size. A nice boardwak on the waterfront has interpretive signs and sculptures, and a trip to the jetty provides great scenery and access to the beach. Make a visit to Face Rock overlook and Coquille point for incredible views of the offshore rocks.

Shady Grove RV Park, Alamogordo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for monthly stay w/electricity. Alamogordo doesn't offer much in the way of quality RV Parks, but this is a very nice park at a reasonable price. The long, level pull-thru sites have a nice-sized tree for shade, a gravel patio, a table and are staggered to provide a bit of privacy. Acceptable cable TV, some OTA channels, and no obstructions to TV satellites. The WiFi worked well, and we had good Verizon cell/data. Not in the best neighborhood, but fairly quiet and with easy access to the highway with little road noise but frequent barking dogs. Close to Alamogordo's shopping with easy access to Tularosa, Cloudcroft, and Ruidoso. Friendly manager and owner were quick to provide local information. A place we'll stay again. We camped at Shady Grove RV Park in a Motorhome.

Umpqua Golf Resort – RV Resort, Sutherlin, Oregon

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Our stay of choice while stocking up for a trip to the coast. Easy access from I-5 with well signed entrance. Pull-thru sites are level concrete with patio and long enough that it isn't necessary to disconnect our tow vehicle. Cable TV was analog but extensive, some OTA, and no obstructions to TV satellites. Good Verizon cell/data and the park WiFi was slow but usable. For golfers, discounts are offered on the course for Rvers. We camped at Umpqua Golf Resort – RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Yreka RV Park, Yreka, California

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Everything you need for an overnight stay. Easy access from I-5 with long, level gravel pull-thru sites. Hookups worked well for us without unhooking our tow. Good analog cable TV and no obstructions to TV satellites. Very good WiFi and good Verizon cell/data. Not much to do in the area, but for an overnight it's perfect. We camped at Yreka RV Park in a Motorhome.

Flag City RV Resort, Lodi, California

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Overpriced for what they offer. While sites are long, level pull-thrus, the area in between is dirt and during our stay wet and muddy. Hookup for sewer was too far back to use without an extension. WiFi was unusable, although Verizon cell/data worked well. Cable had many channels, good OTA selection, and no obstructions to satellite. Very professional check-in staff didn't make up for the shortcomings. Lots of long-term residents, but most were well kept. We'll search for a more reasonable location if returning to the area. We camped at Flag City RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Orange Grove RV Park, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Professional staff at check in, even gave us hints on which oranges to pick. This time of year the trees were full of fruit, and we were told to pick as much as we wanted. Sites are long level gravel pull-thrus with trees and table. Extensive cable, good OTA, and no obstructions to satellites. Very good WiFi and good Verizon cell/data. East of the urban area with easy access and quiet and dark at night. A very nice stay, we'll visit again. We camped at Orange Grove RV Park in a Motorhome.

Dream Catcher RV Park - Escapees Rainbow Park, Deming, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We'll echo previous reviews - large, level gravel parking lot; no trees or table, just hookups. Sites are well spaced and are easy to access. Convenient to I-10, but the noise was not intrusive, and within walking distance of a good restaurant at the adjacent motel. Limited OTA TV, no obstructions to TV satellites, and no cable. Pay to use WiFi but Verizon cell/date worked well. Friendly staff and very helpful individual at the desk. We don't have much reason to stay more than overnight in Deming, and this is a great place to spend the night. We camped at Dream Catcher RV Park - Escapees Rainbow Park in a Motorhome.

Edgington RV Park, Alamogordo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We really wanted to like this park; the new owner was friendly, outgoing, and very helpful. But the deteriorating appearance, road noise, and trashy permanent resident area was just too much of negative for us to stay again. Sites are gravel and share the curbside area, with picnic table or trees. Our site's electrical was jury rigged with a wobbly 50A box linked to an extension cord. No cable, but good OTA selection and few obstacles to the satellites. We watched as a resident's dog wandered around and marked his territory on our tires and a cat used the site for a litter box. We can't recommend or stay here again. We camped at Edgington RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cactus RV Park (CLOSED), Tucumcari, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The park consistently provides a good overnight stay at a reasonable price. Friendly check-in and escort to our site, a long, level gravel pull-thru with shade. Convenient hookups, quiet location, and walking distance to a good restaurant. Extensive analog cable TV, and most sites have a clear view of satellites. Good Verizon cell/data, and the park WiFi worked well. Can be a bit dusty as RVs arrive/depart, but overall well worth the price. We camped at Cactus RV Park (CLOSED) in a Motorhome.

Corral Drive-In RV Park, Guymon, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

An exceptional park in an area largely devoid of quality stays. Easy access, very friendly check-in, and wide gravel interior roads. Our gravel pull-thru was fairly level and spacious, with a large area of grass but no shade. Hookups were well placed except our site required an extension to reach the sewer. No cable but clear views to satellites and ample OTA channels. Good Verizon cell/date but the park WiFi was spotty. An interesting concept - in the summer you can watch the drive-in movies from your site and visit the pizza parlor. We camped at Corral Drive-In RV Park in a Motorhome.
