James Island County Park, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great park and the county has done a great job setting up such and open and multi-use park. Lots of paved biking/hiking trails through out the park. Sites are very spacious and offer treed privacy from neighboring campers. They offer free wifi but it was quite spotty. We would recommend this park. We camped at James Island County Park in a Motorhome.

Savannah Oaks RV Resort, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 3 nights while touring Savannah. The park staff are very helpful and friendly. For those with pets(dogs), they offer a complimentary service to walk you dog while you are out touring during the day. We used this twice and really appreciated it. A nice young man working in the office of the park provided this service, so we tipped him for doing it. The sites are level with cement pads for the RV, fine gravel and sand. Ok when it's dry. We would recommend this park. We camped at Savannah Oaks RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Compass RV Park (formerly Indian Forest Campground), St Augustine, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

We spent 2 nights in a motorhome. Our site was level and the park had quite a few trees providing nice shade from the hot sun. We used the laundry and it worked well. Wifi service was acceptable. The park is close to St. Augustine which allowed us to bike to town along sidewalks beside the highway to town. About 4.5 miles by bike.

We would recommend this park. We camped at Compass RV Park (formerly Indian Forest Campground) in a Motorhome.

Nova Family Campground, Port Orange, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older Florida style park but it is close to most shopping and dining options. To get to the beach we biked about 2.5 miles going over one of the main bridges to the beach. The park is about 8-10 miles from the main entrance to Daytona Beach. This park had several full time regulars. The sites are wide and open and it is quite heavily treed. We used the pool a few times and it was great. We would recommend this park. We camped at Nova Family Campground in a Motorhome.

J.O.Y. RV Park (formerly Sonrise Village RV Resort), Cocoa, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice quiet park (with the exception of being about .5 from I-95). The rate includes free wifi which works well. Unfortunately, there is no cable TV so the rate paid seems a bit high. The sites are very wide and spacious with full grass and small (10 x 15) cement pad. As it's late March it's hard to say how full they get, but the park is now 3/4 empty as most snowbirds have likely left. Washrooms are very clean. Nice club house. We camped at J.O.Y. RV Park (formerly Sonrise Village RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

Jolly Roger Travel Park, Marathon, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Good value with Passport America considering your in the Keys. Wifi worked well as did the cable TV. The washrooms appeared to be almost new so were nicely designed and clean. Sites are quite choppy with roots and trees to maneuver around. Include cement pads and tables. We would recommend this park. We camped at Jolly Roger Travel Park in a Motorhome.

Boyd's Key West Campground, Key West, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $84.00
Overall Rating:

Boyd's is all about location to KW as it is right on the bus route to town or it's a reasonable 4-5 mile bike ride in. We had a site on the bay (142) and it was quite nice with lot's of sun. I can see that some sites would be a challenge for larger motor coaches. Plenty of tree's on lots of sites. Most look to be fairly level. There are some sites like ours that didn't have a cement pad. No big issue. We have a 32' Class C. Wifi was good as was the cable TV. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Rustic Sands RV Resort Campground, Mexico Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a couple of blocks from the beach - about a 15 minute walk. It is a quiet park with a mixture of fulltime MH's and snowbirds. The park is nothing fancy but it has a friendly vibe to it. It is heavily wooded with pine trees and the lots require a bit of leveling. Wifi worked fine as did the cable. We didn't use the restrooms and this is one area that could be upgraded.

We stayed 3 nights and would recommend the park. Good location and good value. We camped at Rustic Sands RV Resort Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Tuesdays and Saturdays they have live entertainment consisting of a saxophonist and a guitar player/singer. They are quite good and we enjoyed the evening. Happy hour with cheap wine and beer prices. We had the food but would not recommend it, however the entertainment was great.

Geronimo RV Resort, Destin, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a few miles from Harbour Village, however it is a short easy walk (1 block) to the "old highway 98" or Beach strip. Beach access is right there. Also, there are a couple of restaurants nearby. Washrooms and grounds were clean and organized. Lots were wide and spacious. Wifi and cable worked well. We used the Laundromat and had no issues. The price reflects it's closeness to the beach for endless walks. We would recommend it. We camped at Geronimo RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Cajun RV Park, Biloxi, Mississippi

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This park is mainly about location as it's situated right across the highway (Beach Blvd) from the beach. It is also close to the Biloxi Casino's and several restaurants. We biked to the casino area along the boardwalk. Sites are all grass, no cement pads and were fairly level. They are not overly wide sites, but there were many snowbirds staying for the winter. The one negative is that the railway runs 400-500 feet directly behind the park with several trains during the day and throughout the night. Lots of whistles. We spent 3 nights and would return again if in the area. We camped at Cajun RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pontchartrain Landing, New Orleans, Louisiana

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great resort they have developed in the past few years. With their shuttle system you are 15 minutes into the French Qtr. They charge $6 per day per person. If you go in and back then back in- $6. They have a restaurant/bar on site. We never ate there, but used the bar. Live music 6 days a week. My wife and friend use the hot tub and said it was fine. Pool is not heated, but looked nice. They have a good sized dog run. The Wi-Fi was not up to par. It went up and down often. This could be improved upon to improve the experience. It is breezy there at times and the gravel roads can kick up some dust when RV's are coming and going. We would definitely recommend this park. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. We camped at Pontchartrain Landing in a Motorhome.

KOC Kampground, New Iberia, Louisiana

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

The park does have several full timers there. The lady in the office was very friendly and helpful. The Wi-Fi was adequate. The laundry room was a write-off. It was filthy and it took several hours to do. Machines were broken down and inefficient at drying. Two out of the three washers worked sporadically. It was a cheap stay and we got what we paid for. Wouldn't recommend this park. We camped at KOC Kampground in a Motorhome.
