Ocean Waves Campground, Waves, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park, helpful staff, clean facilities, spacious sites. There are rules that are posted by the staff that may seem lengthy, but this is why this is a very nice park at a very reasonable rate for peak season. We camped at Ocean Waves Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Buy your beer, groceries and gas before you leave the mainland. Campground has ice and necessities at the office store. There is a dollar general just south of the campground. Watermans bar and grill also a "must try."

Mountain Stream RV Park, Marion, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground, owners live on site and take great pride in the appearance of this facility. The owners checked us in and were very friendly and helpful. Very spacious sites, very clean bath house/restrooms. There is a small camp supply store with various necessities. Nice pavilion with activities regularly planned, it was S'more Saturday Night, when we visited. I would have normally rated this campground a 9, but due to geography, there is no cell service and each site is limited to 250 meg each 24 hours. As soon as a cell tower or cable is extended to this location, it will quickly rate higher. We camped at Mountain Stream RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

VFW Family Campground, North Wilkesboro, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is along the Yadkin River. It was the old high school, but has been taken over by the local V.F.W. It is a year round campground and has suitable facilities for persons passing through or wish to stop for a longer period. It is primarily used for the annual "Merlefest" at Wilkes Community College. We stayed there for 3 days and greatly enjoyed the concert and all the musicians performing at the campground. The VFW hosts were very accommodating and eager to please, this is their main fundraiser for the year and they work really hard. They have primitive sites, partial and full hook-up sites, pet friendly and they even have breakfast service in the main hall to eat there or to go. The facilities are dated, but kept clean and well managed. They're are other local festivals in the area in addition to Merlefest and I would definitely consider staying there again. We have already reserved our sites for next year! This campground is not the KOA, but the gentlemen that run it are the best and make your stay very warm and welcome! We camped at VFW Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Merlefest is a "must see" event!

Try "Ted's Kickin Chicken" 1/8 mile away and very good!

They also have an Apple festival, very nice!
