Quail Valley Recreational Village, California Hot Springs, California

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

I first wasn't sure if I would like this location but turned out to be pretty nice. We stayed over the 4th of July holiday and the place was packed. We were given a spot on a large grass area with RV sites surrounding it. Even though this area was full of kids and adults it never got extremely loud. Overall everyone seemed to be courteous of others. Because of so many people trash cans did seem to feel up fast to overflowing, but they were emptied daily. By Tuesday most people had gone and the area was very peaceful. The resort is remote and offers no TV or internet. There is also no cell service at least with Verizon, had to drive about 10 miles back down mountain to make a call. My satellite worked in spot I was in but looked like many would not because of all the trees in resort. I would recommend especially for those that live in central valley California. It took a little over 2 hrs from Fresno, probably less than an hour and half from Bakerfield. We camped at Quail Valley Recreational Village in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

California Hot Spring just a short drive up the road. Pine Flat about 4 miles away and has a small market where you can get a few items. Closest gas station appears to be back down mountain in Ducor. If your require a major grocery store I was told Porterville is the closest.

Santa Cruz Redwoods RV Resort , Felton, California

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $87.00
Overall Rating:

Just got home from staying there 6 nights. Had a site with a nice view of river below so it cost more but really enjoyed it. The location in redwoods is great and your close to the community of Felton. Most of the sites appear pretty close and a few hard to get into, but part of this is because of all the trees. Sites are not level so if in a travel trailer bring the leveling blocks. Found the TV reception and internet very good. The only issue I had was the number of people out with dogs, by RV or walking them not on a leash. They all seemed well behaved but it did bother us some. Really enjoyed the area and this park. Will definitely go back. We camped at Santa Cruz Redwoods RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Santa Cruz is close and nice to go out on pier and enjoy a meal at one of its many restaurants with a view looking out over ocean. Also the small community of Felton just a couple miles up the road so if you need some supplies they are close.

Pacific Dunes Ranch and RV Resort, Oceano, California

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

We really enjoyed are stay at Pacific Dunes. Had a pull thru and the spots where actually wider than I expected based on some reviews I've read. Had plenty of room on both sides of trailer. I did notice some do have issues with the palm trees which are at the front of some spaces but not all. The people to left of us had a palm tree in front left corner of their space and struggled to get the 40 ft 5th wheel in because of it. The space I was in wasn't completely level but wasn't to bad and worked it out. We were in lower section mot far from the office. Hoping to get upper level next time because views to east look great from up there. Can't see ocean to west because of the dunes but it's close and not a far drive to enjoy day at beach. If you have dogs no great area for walking them. There are some bushes around edges of park which works but no nice grass area. Only grass is by office and it's not maintained and looks to be more weeds than grass. Would be nice if they cleaned it up and mowed it. There were a couple other little miner issues that bothered us but overall really did enjoy the stay and sure we will go back. We camped at Pacific Dunes Ranch and RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

If you want wifi it is provided by tengointernet. To start the service you have to go to start.tengointernet.com . The information provided to me from the park did not tell me this but it did have a phone number I called and got good help. They do charge and you can only use one computer per account login. For me wasn't to bad but for a family with several tablets could be expensive.

Bakersfield RV Resort, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We frequently travel to Bakersfield for family and for first time tried Bakersfield RV. Normally stay at River Run which is great. Found Bakersfield RV to be very nice to. Had a pull through for my 36 ft and enough space and had plenty of room for the slide outs. Did have to unhook the truck because it was sticking out to far but since staying 3 nights not an issue. Probably best feature of this park is the onsite restaurant. The food was good and very large portions for the price. If you enjoy having internet their WiFi was the best of any park I have ever tried. We camped at Bakersfield RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Wishon Village RV Resort, Shaver Lake, California

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Really enjoyed this resort. Because of holiday paid $44 for 3 nights and $39 for last night there. The sites had full hookups with 30 amp service, think some do have 50 but since you don't need air conditioner 50 not necessary. Spaces are some of the largest I've seen and very easy to back into. Several people had truck, trailer, car and a boat in the space. It's does take awhile to get to the resort. The distance from Shaver Lake isn't far and the road is good but you still need to go slow so about another 50 minutes from Shaver. WiFi is a pay service with some restrictions, no Netflix or hi data usage sites. If your looking for a very nice relaxing location in mountains I highly recommend this resort. We camped at Wishon Village RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The closest gas station is in Shaver Lake. Talked to several people there and many brought extra fuel especially if they had boats.

Bass Lake RV Resort, Bass Lake, California

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

We are not members of Resorts of Distinction but our Good Sam's member ship got us in for $62 a night. Price on the high side but since we live an hour away makes it nice for a quick weekend trip to the mountains. Spaces do seem close but wasn't bad since park not very busy. Also in parts of the park the spaces look like they would be very difficult to back into. I was concerned about this when making reservation because I thought they assigned space. Found out on arrival it's first come first serve and you park wherever there is space available. They had full hookups including cable tv with about 10 stations. They offer WiFi but even with good signal strength speed was like the old dial-up days. If you want internet plan on using your data plan from provider. Got good 4G with Verizon. Will diffidently go back, enjoyed the stay and a nice place to get away from heat of central valley during the summer. We camped at Bass Lake RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Pines Resort next door. There is a market and few few restaurants within the area of the resort. Oakhurst not to far off if you want more shopping or restaurant choices.

Bakersfield River Run RV Park, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: December, 2014 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This was second time to stay at River Run and always enjoy. This time I needed propane and staff was friendly and very helpful. Plenty of grass area for walking the dogs. Did not use restrooms this trip because it was so cold, but last time there used and very clean. While their wifi signal always appears strong, it still goes in and out a lot, not reliable. Also very easy to get to since just off 99 freeway and lots of restaurants and shopping near by. We camped at Bakersfield River Run RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Costco very close and other shopping not far away on Rosedale Hwy. Places to eat close include Denny's, Black Angus, and Hungry Hunter which has the best prime rib.
