Kennebec KOA, Kennebec, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We made our reservation online and upon arrival were initially shocked that the park was totally empty, and at 12:30 in the afternoon the office was closed. They left a note on the door with our name & site number so we took a map from the after hours registration and parked ourselves. All I can say is, don't judge a book by its cover, because when we returned to the office to complete our registration we were served by the most courteous, knowledgeable and friendly staff; who just happened to be the owners! By the late afternoon the park was full! We really enjoyed our spacious site, and noticed that a lot of work is going into new improvements, such as the aluminum picnic tables at every site. We requested a level site long enough for our 42' Class A with toad having a clear view of the south sky for satellite and our request was granted. There was a nice pet walk area and plenty of room on the perimeter of the park to play and run with the dog. WiFi was excellent. We camped at Kennebec KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a rural area with one gas station and one grocery. If staying awhile, bring your supplies and fuel up first. Very convenient to Badlands, easy access from I-90.

Spartanburg NE / Gaffney KOA, Gaffney, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Overall the park was very attractive, and we loved the dog park. Our site, however was very disappointing which is reflected in the lower rating. We were so cramped that we couldn't put out our chairs for the week we were there. We observed other sites where this was not the case and don't understand why we weren't put on one of those since we were there for a week. The table had jagged metal protruding from the benches which was reported but nothing was done. Other tables on sites near ours had replacement boards sitting on them while guests were at the sites. Because we couldn't sit outside or set up our site we were very disappointed and did not enjoy our stay. Check your site before parking to make sure you have room to walk around, that your table is not broken, that your compartment doors won't hit the table & that you can put out your chairs. Above all, don't accept site 65 unless you're in a camper van or truck camper. We camped at Spartanburg NE / Gaffney KOA in a Motorhome.

Wickham Park Campground, Melbourne, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Loved the price, and we were expecting far less than what we received in terms of a comfortable site. It was very spacious, with a picnic table, full hook up and lighted pedestal. All sites are located conveniently near showers and laundry. Interior roads are paved and easy to maneuver. The park itself, outside the campground, has a dog park, playground, horse corral, fishing, and more amenities that we couldn't experience given our 8-day stay. The one negative thing that lowered the rating I gave for service, was that we could not receive mail. As full timers we depend on the kindness of our camp hosts to allow our mail to be forwarded there; this was a first. I would have given less stars for service due to that, but to be fair, the office staff were very kind and made a fuss over my little dog, which is always a plus! We camped at Wickham Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very close to beaches and Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. If going to view a launch, save some money and get a better view from Jetty Park. For dinner we highly recommend Squid Lips on nearby Pineapple Ave at Eau Gallie Rd!

C.B. Smith Park, Pembroke Pines, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Full hook up, regardless of back in or pull thru, lake view or not, all sites are one price which you can't beat for this area that is near everything from Miami to Fort Lauderdale. The park's amenities include a lake for water skiing or fishing, batting cage, tennis courts, water park (fee),and so much more. It's a beautiful piece of peaceful paradise. Been here twice and loved it each time! Would definitely return and highly recommend! Lot spacing is spacious with some shade. Site surface was a concrete pad, featuring a picnic table and patio. We camped at C.B. Smith Park in a Motorhome.

Hollywood KOA, Hollywood, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

Tiny little park, well-kept with thanks to the staff. However, what could be an oasis is just an overpriced parking lot with hookups. While some tweaking to fees have been made since last year (e.g., the $5 per pet per day fee is now $3 per pet per stay), overall prices have skyrocketed. Back in sites are $60, pull thru sites are $65; but if your site has a fire ring, you get charged another $5 whether or not you want it. Seriously, who needs a campfire in south Florida? The so-called "deluxe" sites are called that because they are a bit wider or have an extra seating area. And we were told prices are going up even more. They boast of being "big-rig friendly" with 65' sites; but there are only a few long sites and these are either overflow gravel pits or so narrow that your awning might not be able to be fully extended. Very hard maneuvering a big rig, especially a 5er into the entrance drive. If you have a small RV you won't get a pull thru site: you'll be stuck on the street side with no fence. Overall, horrible. We camped at Hollywood KOA in a Motorhome.
