Betty's RV Park, Abbeville, Louisiana

Date of Stay: February, 2019 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Rate based on weekly rate. U-shaped gravel park all back-in except for a couple of 30amp sites adjacent to clubhouse. Wifi in clubhouse, most sites are satellite friendly. There is nothing to really sell this park except the host herself, and she's a huge selling point. When you stay here you are staying w/ family. She is the most gracious hostess. Daily happy hour get togethers, hosted events, pot luck dinners. We enjoyed a fabulous hosted Jambalaya night and big pot luck Super Bowl party. This was our first stay and we will return if the area again. Many guests return every year. We camped at Betty's RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Gulf Beach RV Resort, Biloxi, Mississippi

Overall Rating:

Rate based on monthly rate includes electronic. Very clean new park across the street from Gulf. Cable TV, good wifi and satellite reception. Fenced dog area, pool and large pool deck. All sites are back-in and quite close together. Concrete pad, only 2 or 3 w/ gulf view. Clean, well equipped laundry room, $2 per load w/d. Waffle house adjacent offers discount to park guests. Walking distance to Beauvoir and Coliseum. Near train tracks, whistle any time day or nite. Based on location, amenities, cleanliness, and price, would absolutely stay again. Faver-Dykes State Park, St Augustine, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely old Florida park. Like many older state parks, this one is not big rig friendly. Very narrow bumpy dirt roads, low hanging trees. We, and other big rigs, did make it in but with some difficulty. Even narrower interior roads made backing in very difficult. None of this is the park's fault, just the way it is with so many older parks. They were remodeling the bath house during our stay and provided a temporary facility. 3 stall trailer with private shower, sink, and toilet. Immaculately maintained. Lovely nature trail located adjacent to a small amphitheater. No satellite reception or wifi. This is a really nice older park more suited to smaller rigs and tent camping. Ranger very courteous and helpful. We camped at Faver-Dykes State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Skidaway Island State Park, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Scenic state park, just what you'd imagine in the south. Magnificent oak trees dripping with spanish moss, pines, thick foliage. Very clean. Beautiful walking trails. Our fhu pull thru site was roomy and easy to maneuver. Tho the park has cable TV we chose to park our rig so that we'd have satellite reception. This meant our sewer connection was not accessible. Not the park's fault, our choice. Wifi at office/camp store. Short drive to Savannah, Publix near park entrance. Large capacity washers and dryers $1.25. Clean bathrooms and showers. Would absolutely stay again. We camped at Skidaway Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park), Flat Rock, North Carolina

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Possibly the cleanest, most well maintained commercial park we've stayed at. Rate based on monthly rate not including electric. Great staff, friendly residents. Back-in site fairly easy to maneuver. Decent wifi, satellite reception improved after the beautiful leaves fell. Sites close together and became quite muddy during the rain. Great dog walking paths, pet area was a mud pit during most of our stay. Several long term residents, mobiles, and tiny homes. Very clean park not far from hwy and charming Historic Hendersonville. Would stay again. We camped at Lakewood RV Resort (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

James Island County Park, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed during Festival of Lights. Beautiful lights display drive thru beautiful county park. Be sure to return before 5pm if you leave park. This is a very well attended event that draws huge crowds. $10 shuttle to Charleston Visitors Center where you can easily walk or catch free buses to almost anywhere you'd want to visit. Decent wifi, little chance of satellite reception. Nice clean park, great staff. We camped at James Island County Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake, Orlando, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Nice find in theme park central. Quiet park less than 3 miles to Universal Studios, the reason for our visit. RV park is well separated from activities providing privacy and quiet. Roughly 1/2 the sites are fhu, rest are electric and water. Dump station at end of rv loop. Sites can be challenging to enter, roads are narrow with many trees. Sites are concrete pads, flat but not level, many rigs parked with wheels off the ground. Many big rigs in park prove that it can be done. No wifi but most sites were satellite friendly. Clean bathrooms with showers and good laundry room, washers $1.25, dryers $1. Sadly, an abundance of cigarette butt litter. Given the price and the solitude, we will definitely stay again when in the area. We camped at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

Currahee RV Park, Toccoa, Georgia

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Small park with mostly pull-thru sites for short timers. Long term residents are in a separate back-in section. Few full hook up sites but owners are undergoing improvements (adding sewer to more sites and adding another row of full hook up sites). Excellent wifi and we were able to position our rig to receive satellite. Sites are dirt covered with pine straw. Park is on a lovely creek with several small decks, and is fairly quiet. Easy access off road. We will return next month on our return north. We camped at Currahee RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Thousand Trails / Carolina Landing, Fair Play, South Carolina

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Rate based on monthly stay. For stays of 30 days or longer, a background check is required for which you pay $25. Wifi only available in the office/lounge area and not very strong. Great staff, friendly residents (most are long-term). Satellite friendly. All sites are very uneven, some rigs were parked w/ a wheel off the ground. Challenging to level our rig. Fairly quiet, no road noise. Would not stay again. We camped at Thousand Trails / Carolina Landing in a Fifth Wheel.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

Obviously, you're paying to stay at a Disney property, the only one that allows dogs. Sites are all back in and can be quite challenging even for smaller rigs. At check-in they told us that if we didn't like our site we could call the office to see if any of the nearby empty sites were available. We did change sites for better back in ability and satellite reception. Excellent wifi. Stayed 11 nights and never drove, Disney buses take you anywhere you'd want to go at WDW. All sites have a spacious concrete patio w/ table and grill. Sites are spacious, not cramped. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Leisure Time RV Park, Adairsville, Georgia

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Mostly long term residents, our site was along side the office directly under the wifi tower. Even so, wifi very week and not really usable. Satellite friendly site. Big central lawn area great for dog walking. Very friendly staff and residents, eager to assist with recommendations for site seeing, restaurants, etc. Easy off hwy, short drive to historic downtown. All in all, a very nice little park. Would stay here again. We camped at Leisure Time RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Self check-in although owner stopped in to assist. PA honored for multiple nights. Nice park with excellent satellite and cell service. WiFi never worked even though we were parked directly under the tower. Still, for the price, FHU is a great value. Park has a pool but was closed during our stay.
