The Cove RV Resort, Gadsden, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This CG is most likely the best choice if your travels warrant a stop in the Gadsden area. It's easy on easy off with plenty amenities close by. However, the check in office is just short of the CG on the left and is not big-rig friendly especially if you're towing. Best to sign in first at the RV sales office (but don't turn into the lot if a big-rig) then proceed to the CG. After signing in you will receive a code for the CG entrance gate just down the road on the right. We camped at The Cove RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Pecan Park RV Resort, Jacksonville, Florida

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $73.00
Overall Rating:

First time at this park and most likely the last only because it's way overpriced. The property is not a resort but rather a nice campground that charges like a resort. The amenities are nice but we noted several concrete pads within the park that are not level [including our site] which required some RVs to park with wheels off the ground in order to get level. Yes, the campground is located within the takeoff path of Jacksonville international airport runway 8 but planes, trains, and major highways always seem to be a part of RV camping. Sun Communities is a big corporation and like most billion-dollar corporations' profit is king so do not be surprised if you don't get exactly what you paid for. We camped at Pecan Park RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Wilderness Edge Campground, Millinocket, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is named perfectly as it really is on the edge of wilderness and next to Baxter State Park. Most sites are situated deep within dense foliage with plenty of privacy between sites. However, the campground is definitely not big rig friendly. The roads are not well maintained and many sections do not provide enough clearance to navigate or maneuver without brushing up against tree limbs and bushes. We were assigned site five in the RV section but was unable to maneuver my 36' motorhome through most turns need to get to our site so I used an unoccupied site and a small clearing next to the road to reverse direction [requiring several vee maneuvers], back track to our site, then back into the site sideways to fit. The camp hosts are very friendly and helpful but WIFI, cell phone coverage, and any hopes of satellite reception is nonexistent. The only WIFI was next to the shower facility which was not convenient to our site. Facilities are rustic but adequate. If you wish to escape everyday life and become part of nature, this campground is for you just be sure you are in a tent [there are twice as many tent sites as RV sites] or a smaller rig. We camped at Wilderness Edge Campground in a Motorhome.

Woolfrey's Pond Trail & Campground, Lewisporte, Newfoundland

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Seems this municipal park is victim of fiscal constraints. The park is still a gravel parking lot with little to no grass or any attempt of providing privacy between sites. Facilities are old and in desperate need of updating as demonstrated by a ruptured water main to the showers. There was no apparent activity to fix the rupture but there was a small trench dug in the gravel to channel the water away. Utilities in the 'pit' are two site utility connections requiring one RV to back-in and one to drive-in for standard utility configurations. Does make it slightly awkward if you didn't know your neighbor. We camped at Woolfrey's Pond Trail & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Twillingate is 1:15 hours from the campground. If traveling to the area after the winter potholes are filled in on Highway 340, make the journey to an RV park closer to Twillingate; the roads aren't that bad.

Lockston Path Provincial Park, Port Rexton, Newfoundland

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great campground if you wish to safely venture into the wilderness of Bonavista Peninsula. Don't freak out over the 5km dirt road leading to the campground. It's maintained well enough to drive at 20 mph without fear of damaging your car or RV. Most of the sites in the park are large and private with tables and fire pits, especially sites 49 and 50 or any site in the last loop. Roads in the park are narrow with just enough clearance for a big rig to navigate. Facilities are clean and well maintained. All camping areas have signs stating to boil the water before drinking but the quality of water seemed just fine. Would stay here again. We camped at Lockston Path Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Camping Capitaine Homard, Sainte-Flavie, Quebec

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Not much to say about this bare-bones campground other than the owners are helpful and friendly. We planned to stay at this campground because it's located directly on the beach with up-close water views. However, the sites are small and situated so that neighboring campers were within a few feet on all sides of our motorhome. Sewer connection was old and broken but workable. Power was weak at times. The restaurant is convenient but the food was so-so. We had an issue with the 30 amp hydro and decided to operate only one appliance at a time. This was a one day stop-over and probable would not stay here again. We camped at Camping Capitaine Homard in a Motorhome.

North Pole Resorts, Wilmington, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

First time in Wilmington and totally enjoyed it. We stayed in the original section [not the wooded section] and found it to be great. All sites are back-ins with grass between the sites located on one access in and out paved road that ends at the Ausable River. Very convenient to launch a kayak. Plan to stay on the north side of the access road if you have a TV Dish. We were able to receive DirecTV with no problems. There is plenty to do in and around Wilmington with a short 10 minute drive to Lake Placid. Don't miss the drive to the top of Whiteface Mountain. Would stay here again. We camped at North Pole Resorts in a Motorhome.

Adirondack Camping Village, Lake George, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Great location to visit Lake George Village, Ticonderoga, and the surrounding areas. Very wooded campground with small roads and tight turns; semi-big rig friendly. One issue is that some of the pads are packed sand which becomes messy when it rains; would be better if sites were asphalt or gravel. Stayed in a pull-through with FHU but experienced very low water pressure. We did not use the amenities but noted many happy families coming from the pool and service areas. We had good WIFI and two bars on AT&T network. Would stay again. We camped at Adirondack Camping Village in a Motorhome.

Goulding's Lodge & Campground, Oljato-Monument Valley, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

On the plus side, this campground is located in a scenic area with beautiful red rock hills all around, plus it's conveniently located to Monument Valley. However, be aware of your site assignment if choosing to stay here. Sites A1, B2, C3, and D4 seem fairly new, marginally level, and constructed in an overflow/parking lot area. A campground building located adjacent to this area that becomes occupied at night by locals who park their autos next to the building crowding the area. The main campground seems tight and hard to maneuver in if in a motorhome. Fortunately, is didn't rain during our stay or the red mud would be everywhere. Unfortunately, this is the only full-hookup campground in the area; not likely to return. We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Motorhome.

San Onofre Beach (Military FamCamp) , San Clemente, California

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

The amenities at San Onofre Beach are adequate and well placed allowing all campers to enjoy the beach setting. What was very disappointing is the apparent lack of efficient management, state of repair of laundry/restroom facilities, and overall cleanliness of the campground. Several times prior to arriving I called reservations asking if any full service sites had become available as my reservation was for water and electric only. On all occasions I was told that no full service sites were available. Upon arrival, the assigned site was too small for my RV and I was reassigned a full service site which I remained at throughout my planned stay. I also noted that several full service sites were always available during my stay. Unfortunately the entire campground is littered, unkempt, with several washers/dryers and toilets out of service. It seems that no one is caring for the amenities, landscaping, and it seems that rules are not being enforced. San Onofre Beach could be a real gem conveniently located to many local restaurants, activities, and beaches but considering the noted deficiencies and depressing condition, it rates only two stars at best. We camped at San Onofre Beach (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Clover Pass Resort RV Park, Ketchikan, Alaska

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

RVer beware! The last review on this resort is dated June 2014 and there are significant changes. There is new management in place and for some reason the bar and restaurant is not available to RV customers only those with fishing package deals, as we were told. This was a big downer because we were looking forward to watching for whales, seals, sea lions, and eagles from a casual environment while enjoying dinner at the resort. Sites are very tight on the water front and in the upper sections, tough to get into and setup. On a positive note, the camp host was very helpful and we were lucky enough to be assigned two adjoining sites which allowed just enough room for both our slides to be extended [seems management knows of this situation and is trying to deal with it the best they can]. The water is still 'tea colored' and really undesirable for everyday use. We did not even use it to brush our teeth, let alone drink it. Simply stated, the resort is adequate only because it's the only place on Ketchikan with full hookups. However if you are a fisherman with or without a boat, then this park may be for you. If not, a better option may be to dry camp at a local state park or stay at the downtown Super 8 Motel and park your rig there for free. We camped at Clover Pass Resort RV Park in a Motorhome.

Anchorage Ship Creek RV Park, Anchorage, Alaska

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We have been traveling Alaska for the better part of a month and Ship Creek is by far the worst campground we've stayed at. We were assigned a gravel site with small patches of unmaintained grass close to the grounds entrance with virtually no room to sit outside and relax. The park is located in an unattractive small industrial area adjacent to railroad tracks and a road crossing. The required blast of the train horn when approaching the road crossing got a bit old. At the other end of the campground is an area of homeless campsites and an RV rental repair and maintenance facility. For us, this further detracted from what we hoped would be a pleasant stay. The only positive worth mentioning is that campground is in close proximity to downtown; a 10 minute walk away. We camped at Anchorage Ship Creek RV Park in a Motorhome.

Point Of View Key Largo RV Resort, Key Largo, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $124.00
Overall Rating:

This campground has large sites and plenty of room for a towed and toys. There are several places to launch a kayak or boat and has a small beach to enjoy the sun. Sunsets are spectacular! Not much vegetation between sites but the campground is fairly new and with time the current vegetation should provide adequate shielding between sites. Would stay here again. Boyd's Key West Campground, Key West, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $126.00
Overall Rating:

As stated in many reviews, the sites are very tight and normally requires assistance from the campground staff or a neighboring camper to help park a rig; we stayed in a 38' motorhome. Management has also decided to use every possible space for revenue which compounds the problem and also leaves very little space for shielding vegetation not to mention little opportunity for pets. Not a very appealing campground. However, if your main goal is to camp close to downtown Key West then this is the place for you. Very convenient and an easy bike ride or short taxi ride to downtown. Would not stay here again. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.
