Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated), Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is a disappointment, no campground host therefore the sites are not checked between users. No fire pits, wood fires are not permitted, only gas or charcoal. Charcoal grill was not cleaned, ashes left from previous user. Sites are not level. The rate is high for what you receive. However the campground is convenient to the Park. The shuttle bus stop is just outside of the campground. No T-Mobile, was able to receive satellite reception. We camped for five days. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Zion River Resort RV Park & Campground, Virgin, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived late in the day, check in was easy with lots of information offered. The site numbers are painted on the curb and were faded making it a little difficult to see. Our site was a gravel back in and not very level. The pull throughs have a level concrete pad and are worth the extra price. Parking for the tow vehicle is rather tight for most of the sites. I liked that the sites are clean. Staff members clean the sites after each use. The entire park is very clean, as well as the pool and hot tub. Cable is good, T-Mobile is very good, can see the tower from the campground. The dog park is very small. Staff is friendly and helpful. We stayed for 10 days. We camped at Zion River Resort RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

The Zion River RV park offers a shuttle to the Zion NP at 0800 and a return pickup at 1500 for a cost of $7.00 per person. We instead drove to Springdale and found free parking at one of the free NP shuttle stops and rode the shuttle to Zion. The NP shuttles run every 15 minutes.

Wonderland RV Park, Torrey, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Upon arrival the park is just beautiful with grass and trees. With such a nice setting, you know you have picked the best park. Sites are gravel and grass. No fire pits and only gas grills are permitted at the site. Good satellite reception is possible, good cell service. The owner and his staff work to maintain a beautiful setting. The dog park is a good size with grass. We camped at Wonderland RV Park in a Motorhome.

Portal RV Resort and Campground, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Site is a pull through, full sun, FHUs. Sites are very close to adjoining sites, covered by gravel. Satellite is good and cell service is good. Pool is large enough but you must wear a green wrist band to use the pool. Management will ask you to leave if band is not visible. Pool is not particularly very clean, an oil slick is along the water line. Laundry is very good, machines are clean. A $50 fine is leveled if dog blankets or bedding are washed. A camera is positioned in the laundry room to watch for this violation. Two ponds are located in park but are not suitable for any use by human or animal. However the ponds are proudly advertised. The sites are not cleaned or even examined between use. I got the feeling that the RV park is operated by a corporation with little personal regard to care or condition of the park. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop, Rifle, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful campground, big rig friendly, lots of space between sites. Site has concrete pad with a black top driveway. Picnic table has a covered roof. FHU at every site, quite surprised since I have found that most state parks do not have full hook ups. Dumpsters are conveniently spread throughout the loop. The only disappointment is the day use fee charged by the state. After paying the camping fee, the state charges an additional $8 per day for use of the park. It seems to me that fee should be included with the camping fee. I also discovered from other campers that Colorado omits the day use fee for veterans for the month of August. I had to go back and request a refund of the fee. Satellite reception is excellent, had good cell service with T-Mobile. We camped at Rifle Gap State Park - Lakeview Loop in a Motorhome.

The town of Rifle is great to visit. Don't miss a visit to the museum, worth every bit of the $5 fee. Rifle Falls SP is about five miles away; visit the falls, very attractive. Entrance fee is free since we already paid our day use fee.

Cave Country RV Campground, Cave City, Kentucky

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived to a very warm reception, guided to campsite. She also checked the power pedestal to make sure the power was switched off before I plugged in. Campground is beautiful, very well maintained withs lots of nice shrubbery. Sites are fairly level with a good layer of gravel. Grass is healthy right up to the driveway therefore carpets are not allowed. Laundry was very clean with well maintained machines. We stayed for a week. We camped at Cave Country RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We used the campground as a base to visit Mamouth Cave. We had previously booked tours through the various passages in the cave system. Strongly recommend early bookings as all the tours were full. The tours lead by the Park rangers were excellent. Good shopping for any supplies can be found in Glasgow, about 25 minutes away.

Smoky Bear Campground, Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Check in was efficient and friendly. A printed receipt of charges should have been presented at check in, had to go back next day to review charges but still didn't get a receipt. Most parks present a breakdown of charges on arrival, not just a credit card receipt. I did receive a very detail list and descriptions of trails and things to do while in Gatlinburg. I found the list extremely helpful. My site had open sky so was able to receive satellite TV; about half of sites had tree cover. I found WiFi was very good, used it quite frequently since T-Mobile was not available. Sites are concrete and black top, fairly level but very close to neighbor. Laundry was neat and clean, good machines. We camped over the Independence holiday so the rate had an additional surcharge plus a pull through surcharge. No weekly rate but did receive a Good Sam discount. This was one of the most expensive campgrounds I have camped in, don't know as the campground was worth the extra charges. We camped at Smoky Bear Campground in a Motorhome.

Holiday Travel Park of Chattanooga, Rossville, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This is a large park, sites are very close. Tree cover and open sun mixed throughout the park. Rig parking is on a good bed of gravel with grass between sites. Park is neat and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. This site had good satellite view, but all sites have cable which we didn't use. A small dog park is in the campground. A very large grassy area is also available for walking the dog. Plenty of rabbits around to keep the dog interested. The laundry is clean, plenty of machines available, price is $1.75 per load. We camped for the week so we received the weekly discount. We camped at Holiday Travel Park of Chattanooga in a Motorhome.

Lots of sights to see in Chattanooga, free bus service in town. Bus runs every 15 minutes. Some good craft brews are located in town. Lookout mountain is worth a visit however the Ruby Falls was not worth the high price of admission. Publix, Costco and Walmart all nearby.

Three Rivers State Park, Sneads, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2019 - $8.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is in good operational condition. In fact the park had just reopened on Memorial Day weekend since Michael. The trees still showed the strength of the hurricane, lots of trees just broken off at the trunk. We were told by the camp host that campground has less tree cover since the storm. The sites have fresh gravel, utilities have all good service. As mentioned, the approach roads are rough in some spots because to the logging equipment. Satellite service is good, T-Mobile is not available. No washer/dryers are available. Lake Seminole is beautiful; hiking trails are still closed because of tree damage. We stayed for a week. Marianna is 18 miles away for supplies and groceries. We camped at Three Rivers State Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Louisa State Park, Clermont, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

We kangaroo camped for seven days, stayed at three sites. The first was 28 which was not level and open sun. Number 8 was level with some shade. Number 47 was the best, had open sun and complete privacy on the right side. All sites had plenty of gravel and a nice patio. Good black top roads to each loop. This campground is excellent with good cell service and good chance for satellite reception. Each bath house has one set of washer/dryer, new machines. Machines take quarters or credit card. The laundry floor was dirty, needed to be swept and washed. Other than the laundry room, the bath houses were clean. We camped at Lake Louisa State Park in a Motorhome.

Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park, Keystone Heights, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Our first site was #73 but it contained a good bit of loose sand. I was concerned about getting stuck. Went back to the ranger station to see if something else was available. The ranger found two others that we could move into. The one we selected was grass covered but it contained a good amount of sand burrs. The surrounding sites were all mowed, this one wasn't. Wondered why not. Site was level, was good location for satellite reception. Some shade was provided. Campground has some good hiking trails. Other sites are nearby. Had to use booster to obtain T-mobile service. We camped at Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park in a Motorhome.

Inland Harbor RV Park, Darien, Georgia

Overall Rating:

We camped here three years ago when we first started in our travel trailer. It was nice to return. A new locked gate had been added. call on arrival and the gate will open. It offers a good secure feeling. Sites are black top with grass between. Campground is close to I-95 but no road noise. Good cell service. The owner is very strict about rugs on the grass, but you have grass instead of dirt. The camp ground is well maintained and clean. We camped at Inland Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

The check in office is only open for two hours a day. We proceeded to the camp ground, easy to find. Found our site easily and the camp host arrived to check us in. He was extremely helpful with plenty of information. The camp ground itself leaves a lot to be desired, sand everywhere, the road and the camp sites. Navigating the road is very tight between the trees. The pine trees are very dense with lots of pine needles all over. No T-mobile service, no satellite service. Electric service is 20-30. Water is from an artisan well, had a slight odor and taste. The river could be good for kayaking, canoes are available for rent. The down current was about 2 to 3 knots. Good hiking trails are throughout the park. We camped at Aiken State Park in a Motorhome.
