Shamrock RV Park, Reno, Nevada

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We've been full-timing for 5 years and this is in the top ten of parks we've stayed in as far as cleanliness and service. It's not big and sites are close together but we had no issues with our 33' trailer and longbed truck. Although there are a lot of full-time residents it's very clean with no clutter which happens with a lot of parks. The staff is unbelievably helpful! They even came by, picked up our propane tank, filled it and returned it. Wow! Showers are cleaner than any others we've seen. The pool wasn't open yet so can't review that. Close to the freeway and easily accessible to town. We would definitely stay again. We camped at Shamrock RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tonopah RV, Tonopah, Nevada

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Be careful not to miss this driving through town as the sign is very hard to read. As others have said wide open spaces and everything worked great. Especially the wifi which was a huge surprise - worked better than some in parks that cost a lot more. Water was an issue but we had some bottled water and used the park showers/toilet. It's right on the highway but noise wasn't a problem. Great for an overnight stay between Reno & Vegas. We camped at Tonopah RV in a Travel Trailer.

Las Vegas KOA at Sam's Town, Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The only thing that prevented me from giving this a 5-start rating was the wifi which was non-existent. You can log in but it kicks you off in less than a minute so we had to use our hotspot during our stay. Otherwise it was great! Especially the helpful staff. Convenient location and lots of shopping nearby - right across from a Walmart. Did not visit the casino or other things at Sam's Town but there seemed a lot to do there including a movie theater. The only other thing that could be an issue was our site - there weren't any pull throughs long enough for our 33 ft trailer and Silverado long bed so we had a back in and parked the truck next to us. Had there been another similar rig we would have had to fight for a place to park our truck. Would stay again! We camped at Las Vegas KOA at Sam's Town in a Travel Trailer.

Pechanga RV Resort & Casino, Temecula, California

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Great park - very convenient to everything. Our only complaint was the noise from passing cars behind us playing loud music at 2 a.m. - We used Passport America which they honor Monday-Thursday, but it's only for back in sites near the road mentioned. Wifi and other amenities worked great. We camped at Pechanga RV Resort & Casino in a Travel Trailer.

Bar J Hitchin Post RV, Sweetwater, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely campground - friendly people in the office and the park. Wifi was one of the best we've ever had and right off the freeway. We were only there overnight but had there been anything we wanted to see we would have stayed longer. It's hard to find a good RV park in the are between here and Big Spring so very pleasant to find a very good one. We camped at Bar J Hitchin Post RV in a Travel Trailer.

Carlsbad KOA, Carlsbad, New Mexico

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA is in the middle of nowhere - Artesia is 15 miles north and Carlsbad is a bit farther south. There is no store or gas nearby. The park is pretty clean - several full-timers with overgrown weeds near the back but mostly tidy in the area for travelers. They have a BBQ dinner which was OK - they bring it to your trailer. We would have liked to sit down and meet folks but seems everyone went to their own RV. Bathrooms are very clean and modern and some nice landscaping including koi pond. Pretty quiet except a few kids who run through everyone's sites. We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Hinton RV Park, Sikeston, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This was a decent park right near the highway but quiet - office lady was very nice. Our site was level and all worked well. A lot of permanents but kept very tidy. The only improvement needed is the restrooms - only one toilet and one shower in the ladies room; the shower is pretty nasty made of cement blocks with years of scale buildup. We camped at Hinton RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Whispering Hills RV Park, Georgetown, Kentucky

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

It's a bit off the beaten path and not close to any stores, but very quiet. Roads are narrow once off the highway. Upon check-in we asked to stay another night but the woman didn't even look up and said we'd have to move. Other parks when we've asked have at least tried to move things around. Our site across from the office was pretty level, but when we took a walk around the park there were units propped up as much as 2 feet! The man next to us said he had to move because his site was so uneven and he was towing a trailer with a motorcycle behind is motor home. Wifi worked sporadically and no cable. Over-the-air was good. Spaces are close together; we could almost read the words our neighbors were reading outside their RV! HA! We camped at Whispering Hills RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Boone KOA, Boone, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

The staff was so helpful moving things around so we could stay a few extra days while waiting for a rim for our trailer. They worked very hard to make sure we didn't have to move spaces which would have been difficult. We also were fortunate that a group of Blue Grass musicians had a meet-up there so almost every night we had the pleasure of listening to them. Wifi worked great; no cable and over the air was non-existent until the last day! Our luck! The roads are narrow and hilly - we needed to level out a bit but nothing difficult. It's a bit out of town which made sure it was nice and quiet. They have some donkeys, goats and chickens....fun to feed. People were friendly and there's so much to do in the area. We loved our unintentionally extended stay and would definitely recommend. We camped at Boone KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Lynchburg / Blue Ridge Parkway KOA, Monroe, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice campground if a bit off the beaten path. The park itself is nice; very clean. We only stayed overnight and everything at our site worked great. It's about 1/2 hour from Natural Bridge and at least 1/2 hour from I-81. Roads inside the park can be a bit tricky. We camped at Lynchburg / Blue Ridge Parkway KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Americamps RV Resort, Ashland, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This was our third stay here and we love this campground. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Our original spot was a bit too small for our rig so they moved us the next day without a complaint. It is close to the freeway but we never heard any noise except an occasional emergency vehicle. They opened the new pool while we were there with a nice celebration (free stuff!) Every morning except Thursday is free waffles, Sunday night free ice cream sundaes and a dinner on Thursday. Very clean. There aren't many RV parks near Richmond and this is convenient yet not "in town" - about an hour from Williamsburg. A lot to see! We camped at Americamps RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

One of our favorite parks in the country! Lovely shaded areas next to the Little Pigeon River. Convenient to shopping and Great Smoky National Park. Roomy spaces that are level and very clean. Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park - looks a little disorganized when you pull in but they take advantage of all the space. Office staff is very accommodating and friendly. Dinner every night as well as live music is a bonus! The spaces are great - ours was very level and roomy. The place has a very friendly atmosphere. Wifi works good! Convenient to Nashville but away from the hustle and bustle. Lots of shopping nearby. We would definitely stay again! We camped at Grand Ole RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Decatur / Wheeler Lake KOA, Hillsboro, Alabama

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

The good thing about this park is that it's in a beautiful locale on Mallard Creek. If you're a boater or a fisherman it's great. Also they have spaces together for groups of three units to camp together. It is about 10 miles from any shopping. Unfortunately not all the "amenities" they list are actually operational. They only have 5 full-hookup spaces and they are not near the lake. There is no WiFi except in the office. Our space had trash and many cigarette butts from previous campers. The bathrooms have no electrical plugs and are not cleaned on a regular basis. The women's shower had cigarette butts in the shower as well as dirty washcloths....two days in a row. Another shower was full of ants. They encourage you to pay another $10 for a gate key or you have to wait at the gate to be let in. As other campers have mentioned the roads are narrow and the gates narrower still. The morning we were leaving the tornado warning siren went off....we tried to call the office (after 9 a.m.) and only got a recording. When it stopped as we were gathering our pets to find shelter we realized it was a test. It would have been considerate to inform campers when they check in that they have the test every Monday! We would not stay here again. We camped at Decatur / Wheeler Lake KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Montgomery South RV Park, Hope Hull, Alabama

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This isn't a fancy RV resort but a great place for a few days. Our site was large but did need a small leveler. The wifi was one of the best we've ever had. There's a couple of full-time residents but nothing that was offensive or dangerous. It's out on a country road but convenient to the freeway and not too far from Montgomery downtown. We didn't hear any road noise. The owner is very nice and they couldn't do enough to make your stay comfortable. The best part was the shower/restroom! Better than most homes! We would definitely stay again. We camped at Montgomery South RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
