Broke Mill RV Park, Del Rio, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived after hours but easy to find an empty site, paid next morning. Site was large enough for 45 coach with toad. Easy in and out. A bit of noise from nearby highway but to be expected. Roads were an asphalt type of material so they were not dusty. A number of trees on site. Cable and wifi adequate. Would stay again. We camped at Broke Mill RV Park in a Motorhome.

Boot Hill RV Resort, Alamogordo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Very large pull through site with lots of side room. Easy in out from highway, although highway US54 is busy and park is close to it so can be noisy. Staff was very friendly and helpful, was escorted to site, although not necessary. Office was closed on Sunday, but there is a late night or Sunday registration. In this dry part of New Mexico nothing but gravel sites, although it rained one afternoon - ground didn't soak it up. Probably would stay here again. We camped at Boot Hill RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

2 Pistachio farms/stores are within 1/2 mile of park on the same highway. The White Sands National area is within 20 miles. The little tourist town of Cloudcroft at 8700 feet with an interesting drive is 1/2 hour away. We had burgers from Rockin BZ Burgers in Alamogordo and while it doesn't look like much from the outside, they were very good.

Maverick Ranch RV Park at Lajitas Resort, Lajitas, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed two nights to see the area. Area is exceptionally dry and was hot the days we were there. Park is large with paved roads and sites. Not a lot of people but that is a function of location. The sites are opposite so my drivers side was quite close (8 ft) from neighbors driver side, but lots of room on the passenger side. If you are travelling with another party, then getting two sites (passenger side facing) will give lots of room. The 17 miles out from Terilingua seems to take a while, especially after a day of driving. The RV park is a part of the big resort, but we didn't use any of the resort facilities or golf. Nice enough park for the area, but if there to see Big Bend, I'd probably stay in Terilingua and use the Toad to drive into the park or take the scenic drive on TX 170. We camped at Maverick Ranch RV Park at Lajitas Resort in a Motorhome.

Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA), Van Horn, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Placed in the back row of pull through sites which are very long, no problem for 45' coach pulling SUV. Of course in this area there is nothing but gravel sites, but not much dust. As always pay a bit more for being in a KOA, but Park is far enough from I-10 to not be a bother compared to other park in town. As we weren't in a hurry in the morning, we ordered breakfast from the onsite restaurant. Good, plentiful food and it was delivered quickly. Park is also near the big Stripes truck stop. If ever in the area again would stay. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.
