Oak Grove Campground / Resort, Holland, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here over the 4th of July week, so ENTIRE stay was surcharged at $5.00 extra per night with absolutely NO extras provided by the campground. Also, there is a $3.00 per night charge for dogs and there is no dog run. People at check in said it was for insurance purposes and since "not everyone has a dog" it is only charged to dog owners...hmm. I have never been charged anywhere for my dog, who is quiet and small. When I mentioned that I was told, "this isn't just any campground!" (Truly, it is nice, but surely not THAT special.) Their "welcome" brochure is anything but! It is very snarky with snippy comments about having guests ($5.00 per visitor per day). "Let them pay for themselves...maybe they won't come so often." I was there visiting my brother who lives in the area, so I found this offensive, especially since it would cost $25.00 for him and his family to come share a meal with us without using their facilities!! Refers to pets as "your charming pet." "Please do not let your pet leave a deposit. This is not a bank." I NEVER have NOT cleaned up after my dog! Just offensive. "Believe it or not, some folks like a quiet, peaceful environment. This means NO BARKING by either you or your dog." Very full of themselves...would obviously rate themselves a 6 star if only they could! Wifi is so bad, that it is close to non-existent. Bottomline: would go there again ONLY because of the proximity to my brother's location, certainly not because of their hospitality and VERY over-priced. We camped at Oak Grove Campground / Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Sandy beach at nearby state park is lovely. Restaurant within walking distance (.4 mi) Ottawa Beach Inn. Beautiful sunsets. Because of being on the western end of the eastern time zone, stays light till almost 10 pm in June and July! Great lake fishing!

Orlando / Kissimmee KOA, Kissimmee, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $67.00
Overall Rating:

This park, while in an urban setting, is beautifully laid out and landscaped. We stayed on a deluxe patio site which included a gas grill, Adirondack chair style swing, and a wrought iron patio set--table and 4 chairs. All this was located on a concrete pad with a separate colored concrete patio. There is a nice dog park. Check in was quick and easy. There was an escort to our site...always appreciated. Sorry we're only staying 2 nights! We camped at Orlando / Kissimmee KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Sugarloaf Key / Key West KOA, Sugarloaf Key, Florida

People are very friendly. There is a pub on the premises! Store is currently undergoing renovation, so their supply is extremely limited. Fabulous location and weather! We camped at Sugarloaf Key / Key West KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Raleigh Oaks RV Resort, Four Oaks, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great campground for our overnight purpose. Most sites are pull-through, so we could leave our tow vehicle attached. The price is reasonable and there IS cable and WiFi! Hooray! Though I did not use it this time, there are dog parks within the campground. Also, they always invite you to breakfast! (We had to start early, so we could not take advantage, but a very nice gesture!) We camped at Raleigh Oaks RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Road Runner Travel Resort, Fort Pierce, Florida

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Campground brochure boasts "all the amenities you expect," but doesn't "offer" cable TV and charges $5.00 per day for Internet service. I paid a $25.00 deposit and was charged $24.15 on arrival. I see no deduction for the Good Sam card. It is painfully obvious that they cater to their seasonal clientele, as my registration was interrupted twice to check out those purchasing from the store.

Concrete pad for picnic table NOT camper!

This is definitely not a $50.00 per night CG. Should have been closer to $25.00. Choose another CG. Fortunately this was just an overnight stay for us. We camped at Road Runner Travel Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Dutch Treat Camping & Recreation, Zeeland, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This CG seems more like a $25.00 a night place than a $36.00 a night campground. WiFi is unreliable...unable to maintain signal and navigate. Sites are Very close together with little parking for vehicle. Lack of cable TV is not unacceptable. When I arrived it was on in the office, so it is available, just not provided to campers, which just seems cheap. Lots of young families camping here. I understand encouraging more family outdoor activity than TV watching, but really? I like CNN in the morning and SportsCenter in the evening! AND I expect it for $36.00 a night. We camped at Dutch Treat Camping & Recreation in a Travel Trailer.

This is a nice area in Michigan. The towns of Zeeland and Holland have vibrant downtowns with dining, shopping, and scenic streets with lots of activity and young families everywhere!

Pirateland Family Campground, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

I have camped at this CG for over 30 years. The complaints I have are far exceeded by the compliments I would give this location. The sites are huge. You can reserve a year ahead if you pay in full.

I think there are some rules that need enforcing, like speed limits, use of motorized ride on toys by children, and non-licensed drivers driving golf carts. The place is well-cared for, the staff is polite and helpful. Public restrooms are cleaned 2-3 times a day. They have beefed up he internet. Cable tv and full hook ups at EVERY site. Beach area includes a shelter over picnic table. We camped at Pirateland Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Greenville Farm Family Campground, Haymarket, Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This CG has only location going for it...proximity to Washington, DC. It's entrance road is rutted. It has no internet or cable. The "full hook-up" sites are narrow and NOT level. I was quoted $38.00, but "with tax" raised the price to $42.94...13% tax??? I had to return to pay my charges because the person who could run the register "was indisposed." The picnic tables are warped and unusable...none match. Even with its proximity to DC and the Manasass Battlefield, I could not in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. I would never return for sure! We camped at Greenville Farm Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.
