Albert Lea / Austin KOA, Hayward, Minnesota

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice, basic campground located conveniently to I-90. There is some road noise but otherwise it is very quiet as it is surrounded by cornfields. Sites are dirt/gravel with grass in between, adequately spaced, mostly pull-through, FHU, some shady and some open. Check in was easy and staff was friendly and very helpful. There is lots of green space for walking a dog and a nice sized fenced dog park. The roads are gravel and could use some work. This was a good place for a one night stop after a long days drive. We camped at Albert Lea / Austin KOA in a Motorhome.

Madison KOA, De Forest, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This was a nice, clean, safe RV park located conveniently to I-39/90/94, but road noise was not bad. Easy check-in and escort to site. Mostly pull-through sites, FHU, gravel and grass, and level. Roads are also gravel. Adequate spacing between sites, except fire rings are too close to other campers. The camp store, bathrooms and laundry were all fine. They have a large fenced grassy dog park and also green space for walking a dog. We camped at Madison KOA in a Motorhome.

Pine Ridge RV Campground, Birch Run, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice, large campground, shady with well trimmed trees, mostly pull-through sites that are long and level, dirt/gravel/grass with FHU. Sites are angled so you are not right next to your neighbor. Office staff and check-in were quick and friendly. Price was as quoted with tax included and no extra charges. We asked ahead of time for a satellite friendly site and we were given one. There was a playground and basketball hoop, no pool, and lots of green space for walking a large dog. There is no WiFi nor cable. Bathrooms are dated but clean. We camped at Pine Ridge RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Luray KOA (formerly Luray RV Resort Country Waye), Luray, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $79.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful RV park located near the Luray Caverns. There are both pull-through and back-in sites with FHU, patios, tables, and fire-rings, and views of mountains on two sides. Everything about the park is clean and well maintained. Sites are not too close together. They have a huge dog park with shade trees and benches. There are also 2 swimming pools, ping pong, and so on. This was a great place to stay. We camped at Luray KOA (formerly Luray RV Resort Country Waye) in a Motorhome.

Smith Mountain Lake State Park, Huddleston, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Nice state park located at Smith Mt Lake. Most of the sites are back-in, fairly level, gravel, with a large picnic table and fire ring, water, 30 amp electric, and very spacious . Dump station is available on the way out. This is a small campground with only 50 sites and lots of shade. The bathhouse is rustic and clean. Actually the whole campground is clean and the hosts are very nice and helpful. There is a nice beach swimming area but it is 2 miles from the campground.
We have a 36 ft motorhome and we were glad we followed the directions given in the previous review to drive from US 460, south on rt 122 to Moneta, then rt 608 to rt 626 into the state park. We camped at Smith Mountain Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Artillery Ridge Campground, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2019 - $81.00
Overall Rating:

This is a rustic campground located close to downtown Gettysburg, the Battlefield Visitors Center, and only a 1/2 mile walk to the battlefield road. The sites were mostly pull-through of various lengths on gravel with grass in between and with adequate spacing. There are a few small tent and back in sites along the perimeter. Some sites are shady and some are open. Bathrooms were dated but clean. The WiFi worked until the park was full, then it got too slow. The section of the park we were in (site 53) drained well after huge downpours. There is not a dog park but there was plenty of green space for walking a large dog. There are also miles of roadway in the battlefield for walking or running. The campground is also a horse rescue farm and offers guided horseback tours of the battlefield . We camped at Artillery Ridge Campground in a Motorhome.

Ohio Turnpike - Portage Service Plaze, Mantua, Ohio

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at Brady’s Leap Travel Plaza which is on the south side of the Ohio Turnpike. There are about 6 back-in sites, maximum length of 40 ft, located in a separate RV section. There is electricity at the site and a dump station and water available at the end of the parking area. Payment is cash only in a kiosk in this area. The travel plaza building is just a short walk away and has food, a shop, and restrooms. This a convenient overnight stop when traveling along the Ohio Turnpike. We camped at Ohio Turnpike - Portage Service Plaze in a Motorhome.

Elkhart County Fairgrounds, Goshen, Indiana

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Very large fairgrounds with several camping areas. Most sites are back in with full hookups and all utilities worked well including WiFi until there were too many campers. Price is a special rally rate. There are several large bathhouses located throughout the fairgrounds. Lots of green space for running and exercising a large dog. I always enjoy staying here, exploring the Amish shops, and getting RV repair work done at the many RV service centers. We camped at Elkhart County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Wapakoneta KOA, Wapakoneta, Ohio

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This is a smaller but very well maintained RV park located near I-75 and US-33 with easy access and only minor road noise. Check-in was friendly and efficient with an escort to our site. The office also has a nice camp store. Sites are pull-through or back-in, long, level, gravel, grass in-between, and with a patio, table, and fire-ring or BBQ. There are two nice, smallish, grassy dog parks, but there is not a lot of green space for walking a large dog. There is also a TA Fuel Station just a block away with easy access. We enjoy staying here whenever we are in the area. We camped at Wapakoneta KOA in a Motorhome.

Flatwoods KOA, Sutton, West Virginia

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This is nicely maintained RV park located close to I-79 but it was quiet with no road noise. Sites are FHU, long, level, gravel with grass in between and adequately spaced. Bathhouse is clean and modern with 2 washers and dryers. There are a couple of steep hills in the campground but there about 8 sites near the amphitheater for overnight stays that have just a moderate hill to get to them. The swimming pools and fitness center are located in the Days Inn. There is a Super Walmart and a Pilot just on the other side of the freeway. There is also lots of green space for walking dogs. We camped at Flatwoods KOA in a Motorhome.

Spartanburg NE / Gaffney KOA, Gaffney, South Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This a large, quiet RV park located not far from I-85. Check in was easy with an escort to our site. Interior roads are in good condition. Nearly all of the sites are FHU. The older section has smaller back-in sites under well trimmed pine trees. There is a newer section with open, gravel, pull-through sites. Then there is the deluxe area with very long and wide paved pull-through sites with a patio and table and chairs. There is a large fenced dog park and lots of open green space and trails for walking and running a large dog. Bathrooms and showers were clean and modern. We camped at Spartanburg NE / Gaffney KOA in a Motorhome.

Forsyth KOA, Forsyth, Georgia

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This is a large RV park conveniently located near I-75, but road noise was not a problem. Check in was easy with escort to our site. There is also a nice camp store in the office. Interior roads are narrow but paved and in good condition. The park is on a couple of gently rolling hills so the sites are terraced. Nearly all of the sites are FHU, pull-through, on gravel or dirt. Most are under tall, well-trimmed pine trees but one section is open. Bathrooms and laundry are dated but clean. WiFi is free for 30 minutes, then a $5 fee. There is a small dog park but enough green space for walking a large dog. The price is reasonable for the amenities provided and this park worked well for an overnight stop. We camped at Forsyth KOA in a Motorhome.

Big Oak RV Park, Tallahassee, Florida

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older RV park located just a few miles from I-10 and right off highway 27, so it is easy to get to. Office staff was friendly and efficient. Roads are gravel and sites are sand/dirt. There are both pull-through and back-in sites. Most are in the shade under beautiful live oak trees, but there are about 8 long pull-through open sites for short stays. The bathrooms and laundry room are clean and adequate. There is green space along one side of the park for a short walk with the dog. We camped at Big Oak RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a very nice RV park located conveniently to I-95, but with minimal road noise. All of the roads are wide and paved and in good condition. All of the sites are paved, angled, long, level, with FHU, and adequately spaced. The center sites are pull-through with back-ins along the perimeter. Check in was easy. Bathrooms and laundry room are clean and modern. There is a large pool and playground, a medium sized fenced dog park, and a very nice large pavilion. Houghton Lake Travel Park, Houghton Lake, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

For us this RV Park worked very well for an overnight stay. It is convenient to the freeway but far enough away that there was no road noise. Check in was easy and they have a small camp store. Roads are gravel and easy to navigate. All sites are level, grass, pull-through, with various amounts of shade and hookups. We had a FHU, 50 amp, satellite friendly site with easy entrance and exit. All utilities including WiFi worked well. The campground is quiet and well-maintained. There was lots of green space all around for walking a large dog. This was convenient for an overnight but would also be comfortable for a long stay. We camped at Houghton Lake Travel Park in a Motorhome.
