Blazing Star RV Resort, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Even with directions we had a little trouble finding this place and when we were told not to listen to our GPS, they were absolutely right , don't use your GPS. The staff was so wonderful and so helpful. I really appreciated them. Cable channels were a bit sparse and disappointing, especially if you don't like Fox News. The sites were well spaced, lots of shade trees and long enough for RV and tow. Bathrooms were very nice, clean and the water was hot. Lots of snowbirds but still there was room for folks just traveling thru. We would certainly return. We camped at Blazing Star RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Fort Stockton RV Park, Fort Stockton, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We spent a couple days here and it was fine. Enjoyed the cafe, food was great, and got some laundry done. (Lots of machines at a reasonable price.) Bathrooms and showers in the back of the park were old but clean and the water was hot, something we really appreciate. Sites are level and spacing is better than most. Picnic tables were showing their age, but I guess they don't last long in the Texas sun. While we came in without reservations, by the end of the evenings, the place was pretty full so I'd recommend calling if its a late arrival. We camped at Fort Stockton RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Fort Stockton has quite a lot of history and I would really suggest touring the museum and the Fort and just driving around old town. The ladies at the Visitors Center were really nice and helpful

Sunrise Valley RV Park LLC, Mina, Nevada

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Actually this is our second visit and this time we had the park to ourselves. They advertise that you get Reno TV but we were never able to get any channels (saying that, we don't have an antenna either, so that may have been the issue.) The sites are very long, and lots of trees. Town is just about a ghost town, so make sure you gas up and stock up before you go. We camped at Sunrise Valley RV Park LLC in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The town of Hawthorn (North on 95) is your best bet for gas and some small grocery stores, fast food excreta If your coming from the south, Tonopha is about your only option for anything.

Washoe Lake State Park, Carson City, Nevada

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Love this dry campground. Sites are well spaced so you can't look into your neighbors windows and most are very level. Quiet a number of pull thru sites but back ins are wide and easy to use. We stayed two days and pretty much had the place to ourselves although nights it filled up with travelers. Jack rabbits were our main neighbor. The dump was flooded so it was closed and didn't appear that it would open soon, so if that is an issue you might want to call ahead to ask. Bathrooms were clean, well stocked and showers were wonderful and hot. Water available. We plan to go back soon. We camped at Washoe Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Devil's Lake State Park, Lincoln City, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

It's been raining for days, so many of the spaces were flooded out, but most looked fairly level. I bet they have a mosquito problem in summer because the drainage was so bad. Hosts were friendly, staff was helpful. We camped at Devil's Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Oldest covered bridge in Oregon is East off Hwy 18. It's been restored and on private property, but interesting to see

Nehalem Bay State Park, Nehalem, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We followed a bad storm in, and in mid October, you get the place pretty much to yourselves. Hosts said they rode out the storm and it was pretty frightening (tornado hit about a mile away). Sites are wide, paved and full of pretty mushrooms. Showers were hot and free. Walk to beach over dunes. We camped at Nehalem Bay State Park in a Motorhome.
