Tillicum Beach Campground, Yachats, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

A beautiful park right on the ocean. Easy beach access. Road in and all sites are paved. Kind of tight for a big rig. Very busy park, full 3 of the 4 nights we were there. Our site, 55, was not very level. Some road noise, but not intrusive and the ocean never stops. We camped at Tillicum Beach Campground in a Motorhome.

At $53 the most expensive park I've camped in. Never saw the hosts, everything was closed when we got there and when we left. The park was very clean and well maintained. We camped at Longview North / Mount St Helens KOA in a Motorhome.

Panther Flat, Gasquet, California

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $8.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park, lots of room for our toad. The park was full but we barely knew we had neighbors. The Smith River is an easy walk and just beautiful. It's not flat. We never saw the camp hosts. We camped at Panther Flat in a Motorhome.

Clyde Holliday State Recreation Site, Mt Vernon, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

A beautiful State Park, right on the John Day River. Several hiking trails available with easy access to the park. Water and electricity at each site and our site was perfectly level.

May well be the best park on our trip. Very well maintained, beautiful park. We only stayed one night but plan to make another trip here and stay a while to explore the area. We camped at Clyde Holliday State Recreation Site in a Motorhome.

Watchman Campground (NPS Campground), Zion National Park, Utah

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $9.00
Overall Rating:

Campground was very nice, but we used it mostly to sleep and eat between trips to the canyon. It's about a quarter mile walk to the shuttles to the canyon. The views are amazing, and the wildlife is a great bonus. We saw mule deer, and eagle, wild turkeys and a gray fox in one short stretch of the shuttle route. We will come back here and stay longer. We camped at Watchman Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a shuttle from the campground into the nearby town. Lots of shops and restaurants. We took the shuttle in and walked back , about 2 miles. Ate at an expensive and not very good Mexican place. A very pleasant walk, despite the bad food.

North Rim Campground (NPS Campground), Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Site 11. Opened the door and the Grand Canyon is right there. Wow! They said the park was sold out, but it was half empty. Most sites are in the shade all day. We made our reservation 6 months in advance and got the site we wanted. I would come here again and stay longer. Don't miss the sunrise or sunset from the deck of the lodge. It's better than advertised. There is a shuttle for park employees that runs from 6 AM to 10 PM. They let campers use it on a space available basis. We camped at North Rim Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Gorge State Park, Panaca, Nevada

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful park, very clean and well kept. It was self pay, we never saw a park employee. $27 was the out of state fee. We had water and 30 amp power. We got there at noon and it was half full, by 5 it was completely full. Big event coming, Dutch Oven Cook off. Park was still nice and quiet. Got up at 6 AM and hiked to the cliffs and watched the sunrise. Rivals anything I've seen. We would camp here again and stay longer next time. We camped at Gorge State Park in a Motorhome.

Prospector Hotel and Casino, Ely, Nevada

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Good for an overnight stay as all other parks the area were full. No bathrooms or showers available, but we did have access to the pool. Two free margaritas were included in the price. What a deal! Close sites and not really all that appealing, but a cheap overnight stop. We camped at Prospector Hotel and Casino in a Motorhome.

Peach Beach Campark (Sunset Orchards), Goldendale, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This park is located just East of Maryhill State Park. It was self check in, we never saw an attendant of any kind. We pick a spot right on the Columbia River. The place is immaculate, nothing out of place. The back in spaces o the river have only power and water, the pull throughs have sewer too at $5 more. There is a dump station. No fires of any kind are allowed. We camped at Peach Beach Campark (Sunset Orchards) in a Motorhome.
