Creekside RV Resort, Punta Gorda, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $115.00
Overall Rating:

This is a gorgeous facility with beautiful landscaping and fabulous amenities. We stayed here 4 nights in late Jan. and loved it. Very close to I-75 and convenient to grocery stores and banking (BOA). There is a small airport nearby but noise was minimal at night. You are also close to Port Charlotte & Ft. Myers. The sites were all pavers, very decently spaced, and plenty wide and deep. We had site #114 which was a premium pull-in with a nice scenic view of the small lake and fountain. Each site also had a picnic table. The clubhouse is very nice with a stage, dance floor, large gathering area, kitchen facilities, restroom/shower facilities and fitness room. The pool area is also large with plenty of room for loungers as well as a small "beach" type area on the lakefront with chairs and a firepit. They also offer many activities and have bocce, shuffleboard, and pickle ball courts. There are kayaks to use and launch at the back of the park on a creek. Very personable and friendly staff who gave us printed info on attractions and shopping in the area and escorted us to our site. Wish we had booked more time but will definitely be back. We camped at Creekside RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Take a visit to the Babcock Ranch Eco Tours (about 30 mins away) and take a swamp buggy (old converted school bus) tour through the beautiful wildlife preserve to see alligators, wild boars, wild turkeys, deer, crack cattle, turtles, and so many birds and to also hear about the unique history of Babcock Ranch. Downtown Punta Gorda has and indoor upscale boutique marketplace called Fisherman's Village with an assortment of restaurants and shops and boat tour rentals.

St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA, St. Petersburg, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $112.00
Overall Rating:

Huge crowded park with many seasonal/permanent residents. That being said we had a nice back-in site (#32) on Long Bayou. However very little space to park tow in front. Not really satellite friendly as there are trees spotted all through park but we were able to make it work. Neighbors are close by. Nice concrete patio pad with picnic table. Excellent staff who were always available and helpful. Really nice paved walkway in front of park for bicyclists and walkers. Could walk or bike all the way into town. Also has kayaks and launching right on Bayou. Very convenient to shopping; Publix, Macy's, etc. Would stay here again. We camped at St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA in a Motorhome.

Make sure to check out the Manatee Viewing Center about 50 mi away. Well worth the drive. At least a couple hundred manatees in the water at the Tampa Electric plant due to the warm water discharge from the power plant.

St. Augustine Beach KOA, St Augustine Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $79.00
Overall Rating:

Very decent park with paved pull-thru sites and round table, 4 chairs & fire ring. We stayed at site 33 which is the second pull-thru into the park. Plenty long enough for 35 ft coach & tow. We had a slight view of the very brackish "lake" that is inside the park where you can catch & release. WiFi was excellent and good for streaming. Very satellite friendly site too. Sites are a little close but not bad. Very convenient to downtown and hop on/hop off trolley comes right into park. Would definitely stay here again. Tips for other Campers:

Tickets for the hop on/hop off trolley are sold right at the check-in desk since the trolley comes right into the park. Great way to get an overview of the city. If you're there at Christmas time through the beginning of Feb., the lights in the downtown area are beautiful. Many attractions: Fountain of Youth park, the Old Jail, the fort on the waterfront, wineries, chocolate factory & of course the beaches.

Daytona's Endless Summer Campground, Port Orange, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

Not sure why this CG has such high marks. This is a VERY crowded and super tight park. You are packed in here like sardines. It does have a beautiful open space entrance that is well landscaped but that's where the beauty ends. Even though the interior roads are paved and one way, they are narrow and lined with parked vehicles edging into the road. Most sites are grass but ours was considered premium and we had gravel with a nice patio, fire ring and picnic table. Most sites are back-in with only a couple pull-thrus. Barely enough room in front to park tow. Had to angle it & encroach a bit on neighboring site. Very friendly and accommodating front staff gal who was helpful. I will say though for how crowded it is, it was very quiet at night. Just too crowded for us to return. We camped at Daytona's Endless Summer Campground in a Motorhome.

Bayhead Mobile Home Park, Tallahassee, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Site was 45. with GS discount - very overpriced for what you get. This is basically an older mobile home park where some trees were cleared out in a small forest type area for "rv sites." Have to travel through tight roads with many speed bumps to get to the rv section. The sites are dirt, brush, leaves & some have cracked half pads of concrete. All backins but with enough room for tow. We had site 67 that had a huge lip on the cracked pad. Had to bring 35ft coach to front of site to get satellite- all hookups way to the back so had to use extensions for water & sewer. Was nice to have strong WiFi though & could stream. Would not stay here again. We camped at Bayhead Mobile Home Park in a Motorhome.

Pensacola RV Park, Pensacola, Florida

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Site was #40. with Good Sam discount- adequately priced. This is good for easy off & on I-10 & plenty of shopping in the area: Publix, Walmart, CVS, etc. However it is about 20 min from the downtown area and beaches which you have to access the main highways to get there. Upon check-in we had an escort to our site which was a long enough gravel pull thru to fit 35ft coach & tow. Our site, 43, was satellite friendly, however the back-in sites along the perimeter of the park had tree shade. A lot of road construction in this area so when out with tow, had to really pay attention to traffic flow. As others have posted, very quiet at night. Would stay here again. We camped at Pensacola RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you are into seafood, this is the Mecca. Make sure you visit Joe Patti's fish market that has the best selection of fish & shrimp bar none. They even steam the shrimp for you to your liking. One of the best seafood dinners we ever had was at the Fish House restaurant. Try the grouper bites, gumbo, fried shrimp platter, seafood sampler platter - absolutely delicious. Finished with Creme Brûlée- equally delicious.

Montgomery South RV Park, Hope Hull, Alabama

Date of Stay: January, 2019 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Great overnight spot off I65. Site long enough for 35 ft coach & tow. Yes there is some hwy noise but sites are configured so that back of coach is away from interstate & if that's where your bedroom is, it helps. There also was some train noise at night but brief and distant. Excellent camp host who showed us to our site and thanked us several times for choosing her park. Good spacing between sites & satellite friendly. There were some permanent residents but all campers were neat & tidy. Would use this again for a stopover. We camped at Montgomery South RV Park in a Motorhome.

Delta Ridge RV Park, Inc., Forrest City, Arkansas

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Even though this park is a bare bones one (no restrooms, showers or laundry), it is perfect for an overnight. Very close to the interstate which is what attracted us to it. Very satellite friendly. Sites are configured so the back end of the coach faces away from the freeway so if your bedroom is in the back it helps somewhat with the noise. It is pretty much self serve after you call to reserve a site. The little office has registration paperwork outside with an envelope for your payment. Very friendly owner who came to check on us early evening. Would definitely use again. We camped at Delta Ridge RV Park, Inc. in a Motorhome.

Texarkana KOA, Texarkana, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

I mostly agree with the previous poster regarding the freeway noise however it didn't affect us as much. We were mostly concerned with finding a cg that was easy off/on the interstate & this certainly fit the bill. Unfortunately the way the sites are configured the back end of the coach faces the highway which is where the bedroom is thus the excess noise. It was worth it for us since we had an early AM start & wanted to be close to interstate. Our 35 ft coach fit in the pull thru without unhooking the tow. As previously mentioned the first three rows are for overnights and I would request the last row to help a little with the noise. We camped at Texarkana KOA in a Motorhome.

Lake Corpus Christi State Park, Mathis, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is for FHUs but doesn't include $10. park entry fee. Our first stay here was 2 years ago & we were here for the second time for an overnight on our way to South Padre Island from Austin. Crowded park but plenty of room for 35' Coach & tow without unhooking. Was able to get satellite by pulling to very front of site even tho some trees on site. #36 is in the Javelina Loop & has semi-circle pull-thrus. Our site had a covered picnic table on concrete area. Very pretty park with lake and picnic tables all along it. We camped at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in a Motorhome.

Oak Forest RV Park, Austin, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second time staying here & things seemed a little worse. The park is still nice scenery wise but they have expanded quite a bit and used all the treed open space picturesque area which gave this park its beauty. Trash pickup was spotty with bags of trash left for days at sites. Laundry room was locked closed with sign on door saying dryers didn't work. Also 2 of the 4 restrooms were out of order. Fitness room seemed a little worse for wear with no way to clean & disinfect equipment after use. There are also no security measures at this park. I will say however that my husband asked the office if they could trim some branches so they wouldn't scrape the top of the coach upon exiting & they did so. Might return if I hear they got their act together. We camped at Oak Forest RV Park in a Motorhome.

Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA), Van Horn, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects GS discount. This a scruffy park full of burrs. Stay off the grass at all cost or you'll be tracking them in all through your coach. Glad we don't have pets! That said it is easy access to I-10. Stayed in the back row in G3 which cg map said was 110'. Plenty of room for coach & toad without unhooking. Came in while office was closed & note said to go ahead & pick a spot. Was pricey for this this type park. They do have a cafe that will deliver to site. Stadium RV Park & Mobile Home (AKA Sonora RV Park & MH & Cabin Rentals, Sonora, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

First off, customer service is exceptional! Manager comes out and guides you into the park after a call from the exit. It looks pretty run down as you follow him through mobile homes and trailers. This is basic bare bones - no restrooms - just for an overnight. It is just a small dirt lot but has full hookups with 50 amps which you pull alongside. Also had a courtesy sewer hose at utilities. Cash or check is needed. It was safe, quiet, and easy in & out being 1 mile from I-10. We camped at Stadium RV Park & Mobile Home (AKA Sonora RV Park & MH & Cabin Rentals in a Motorhome.

Las Cruces KOA, Las Cruces, New Mexico

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

Paid for a premium site (#12) which was pull-in with a beautiful view of the Organ Mountains & site had a concrete picnic table. Tow barely fit behind coach & had to be parked to the side so as not to block neighbor's site. Don't think price was worth it. Park is gravel mixed with dirt. No fitness room. Staff not very welcoming - even tho park was not full & we were told our site had not been used the night before, staff made sure to let us know we were checking in too early. Too windy & cold to enjoy outdoors so we were off without hiking Dripping Springs. We camped at Las Cruces KOA in a Motorhome.

Manzano's RV Park, Silver City, New Mexico

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This a very cozy picturesque small gravel rv park which we used as an overnight stop from Tucson to Las Cruces. Beautiful views of the mountains which we had from our dinette out our left side windows. We had site 5 which is a pull thru but only fit our 35' coach & had to unhook toad. Office has an inviting porch with rocking chairs. Inside is set up as a homey living room with comfy furniture & movie and book libraries The owner & her husband are lovely people who showed us to our site & remained until we were all hooked up & settled in. Excellent customer service! Cash is necessary tender. Unfortunately our satellite TV didn't work but we got local channels - there is no cable. Only drawback is the bumpy dirt Flury Road to CG. Must go SLOW! Would definitely return. We camped at Manzano's RV Park in a Motorhome.
