Smokemont Campground (NPS Campground), Great Smoky Mountains National Park, North Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Site A6 Smokemont Campground Why we chose here? It's in the southern part of the Great Smoky Mountains Location: North Carolina, just north of Cherokee Peak Season: 15 May to 15 Oct Sites: 142, they say it accommodates 35-40' RV's but there are limited spots for these sizes, especially for 5th Wheels as we need to fit a truck on the site as well, unhooked. There are a number of loops, F loop which is for RV's was closed as it doesn't open until the 15th May. The campsites are tight. Facilities: Restrooms, Dump Station with drinking water, Garbage bins Groceries: Cherokee is 8 miles away, the Lion grocery store is next to McDonalds on the 441 Reservations: Yes, but not before 15 May Cell Coverage / WiFi: No, you will get it in Cherokee Price Paid: $17 off peak, $20 in peak season Date of visit: May 2016, we camped in A6 Other: There are some trails accessible from the campground. No generators are allowed in loops A, B & C during peak season. Quiet hours 10pm to 6am. Loop F is for RV's only. Loops D & F are closed in the off season. Ranger station in the campground. The campground runs along the river. Self registration during the off season. Ten minutes to the town of Cherokee Would we come here again? Yes, it's a nice campground. We camped at Smokemont Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

The View Campground, Monument Valley, Utah

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

For your $41.95 you do not get any hook up, no water, no electricity - which is outrageous. The campground is on top of a hill, so if it's blowing, it is very unpleasant. On the plus side you have a great view of the Mittens. The fee to come into Monument Valley is $20 per car, so it's better to stay in the park if you want to do multiple trips to see the sights. The free wifi is really only available in the office. The restrooms are excellent. There is a family toilet with change table, a single women, a single mens. Then mens and women combined multiple showers and toilets. Then a disabled bathroom with toilet, shower and basin in a large room. The water is hot and strong. There are bins for your rubbish. A dump station is at the end of the campground. We camped at The View Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Horse Thief Campground - BLM, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

There are 56 sites with tables, flat tent area, table and fire pit. A place to leave your trash. No water or dump. Campsites are well laid out with lots of bushes to give privacy. There is a camp host but we never met him. The only place near the Island in the Sky that allows RV's larger than 28'. We stayed in a 35' fifth wheel. Campground is ½ mile off the main road down a corrugated dirt road. We camped at Horse Thief Campground - BLM in a Fifth Wheel.
