Scenic View RV Park, Ninilchik, Alaska

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Nice, small campground with awesome views on a good day. We had a water/electric site with great views out of our window. Sites further from the bluff may or may not have views from inside their rv, although it's a very short walk to the bluff. Site spacing seemed typical for an rv park. No picnic tables or individual campfires, but there is a group campfire nightly. Owner was friendly and helpful. Did not use restrooms, but laundry was fine. (Not the best or cheapest, but clean and not the worst we've used.) Clean dump station. Nice park, especially if you can get a view of the mountains. We camped at Scenic View RV Park in a Motorhome.

Uniontown KOA, Connellsville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

We enjoyed camping right on the river. Site was reasonably level (a bit over one degree off front-to-back and left-to-right). Cable worked fine, and wifi was great, with typical speeds near 10 Mbs while we were there. Very nice biking/walking trail goes right through the campground. Trains are frequent, but no horns by the campground and they didn't bother us. The road in was twisty, narrow and very steep (1st gear and brakes required with our 17,000 lb. fifth-wheel). We used this KOA as a base to visit Fallingwater (about 30 minutes away) and enjoyed the riverfront location and great trail. We camped at Uniontown KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park), Watkins Glen, New York

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

The camping area is fine, a basically open area with some trees. Site spacing is decent. Sites are level and easy to get into. Wifi when we were there was outstanding, with speeds from 5-20 Mbs, the highest we've ever experienced at a campground. . Staff was very friendly and helpful. The park location worked well for our explorations of the southern Finger Lakes region and we'd return if we came here again. We camped at Clute Park Campground (W W Clute Memorial Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The park across the street is fairly large, on Seneca Lake and even has a small dog beach

Alum Creek State Park, Delaware, Ohio

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here during a very cold weekend in March. Only a small portion of the campground was open, although there were plenty of available sites. Spacing of campsites seemed normal for a state park, and even with the winter environment (no leaves) we felt there was good separation.

The first campsite we checked had the ground on the 50A outlet filled (with mud?). Rather than deal with that, we moved down to a different campsite with no issues.

Other than very occasional drive-bys each day, there were no staff at the campground at this time of year. Our only real complaints were that the state park staff provided misleading information about camping. (For example, they indicated that only A & J sections were for walk-ins; true in high-season, but no sites were reservable when we stayed and consequently the B & C sections that were open were also walk-in (and J was closed entirely). They also indicated that there was a fee to dump - again, true if you are not camping but not true if you camp.)

Although there were other campers at the park, it was very quiet the entire weekend we camped. We will return the next time we are in the area. We camped at Alum Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Camp Timber Lake, Huntington, Indiana

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here twice during the winter season in the full-hookup pull through sites. Water during the winter is located below ground (to prevent freezing) and is a bit of a reach. The campground was very quiet and was empty except one other unit and a number of long-term residents. The office was closed most of the time, although our interactions with staff were all very positive.

No issues with our 90 lb. dog (lab-mix), although they did take a look at him.

Both sites we were in were not level (front-to-back or side-to-side), but with the campground largely empty, we enjoyed great views of the lake from our fifth-wheel.

In addition to long-term residents (most of whom were located away from us), there are many seasonal trailers. I imagine Camp Timber Lake would be quite busy on summer weekends.

Although we were only passing through and we had cold weather, we liked the location so much that we changed our plans and stopped here again on our way back home. We camped at Camp Timber Lake in a Fifth Wheel.
