Virginia Beach KOA, Virginia Beach, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $81.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is nice. We camped on dirt, sand, and weeds and there were plenty of trees to keep us shaded. There are new deluxe patio sites that are concrete with patios, but are missing mature trees. There are new bathrooms and old bathrooms. The older bathrooms are inefficient. The toilets and sinks are in one building and showers are in another. So, if you are cleaning up one would shower in one room, leave that room, walk around the building and go into another room to use the sink and toilet. Also, the toilet stalls are very tight. I can't imagine how a very large person would be able to use the toilet. As it was, I would walk in, straddle the toilet to close the door and the toilet paper holder just about touched my shoulder. The water pressure was low and water temperature was inconsistent if there was another person showering. That said, the bathrooms were extremely clean. The newer bathrooms are private one room bathrooms. The campground is great for kids, which we don't camp with. There are two pools, one with a slide, a bouncy pad, a couple of playgrounds, horse shoes, volleyball, etc. I didn't use the laundry facilities, but did check it out. It was the cleanest facility I have ever seen including private laundromats. We had no issues with WiFi and a good selection of cable channels. I think the campground is a bit pricey. Next time in Virginia Beach, I would probably tryout another campground due to the price. We camped at Virginia Beach KOA in a Motorhome.

Savannah Oaks RV Resort, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2019 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Lovely campground. It sits on the Ogeechee River and there's a small dock. It's a convenient campground to visit Savanah, about 20 miles from downtown. The bathrooms are very clean private rooms with toilet, shower, and sink and is fully tiled. Only issue with the bathrooms is there is no air conditioning and the tile gets slippery. Lots of trees and shade, and our spot was level. We did not use the pool or laundry room. A previous review stated that the pull through sites look at their neighbor, sites 97-106 do not do that. We would stay again. We camped at Savannah Oaks RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Reunion Lake RV Resort, Ponchatoula, Louisiana

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $76.00
Overall Rating:

The place is incredible! There is a kiddie pool and splash area, an adult pool, plus a lazy river with a float up bar. There's a lake and for a fee there are kayaks and a huge blow up thing with slides. There's a putt-putt golf course (for a fee), basketball, volleyball, and pickle ball courts, walking trail, playground, and horseshoes. During the summer months there is an outdoor movie screen. The campground roads and sites are level concrete with a good size patio, picnic table, and fire pit with a bit of grass in between sites. The only negative - there aren't any trees, so the motorhome sits in the blazing sun all day. It really is a destination campground. Verizon worked great. There is a fee for WiFi and very limited cable TV. It's a bit pricey for a one-night stay, but we would definitely stay again to enjoy the grounds for a couple of days. We camped at Reunion Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a gas station as you enter the park. We filled up before we left, but you can't turn left out of the gas station unless you're on the road going into the park. We had to make a right turn, drove about 1 mile, and turned around in a different gas station. The gas was about 23 cents a gallon less, but it wasn't a top tier gas station.

Highway 6 RV Resort, Houston, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

Wow! I believe that the park is only a couple of years old. Brand new concrete, double wide roads, spacious concrete spots, great WiFi, good selection of cable, pretty pool, beautiful community room with free coffee, hot water, and popcorn, immaculate laundry room with front loading washing machines, $2.50, and dryers, $2.00, clean large showers and dressing rooms, and a pond (that was being drained while we were there to work on it). Each site had a nice size patio, a bit of lawn, and a tree. Our tree had a bird's nest with 2 baby birds and mom. One of the reviews I read stated that it was a glorified parking lot and gave a poor review. I will take this glorified parking lot any time. The managers were warm and friendly. We only spent the night as we are headed back home, but I would definitely stay more than one night if I were visiting Houston. I would have given the park a 10, but it was a bit of a walk to the restrooms from our site. And we will definitely stay again as we are passing through. We camped at Highway 6 RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Rustic Sands RV Resort Campground, Mexico Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

We had been staying in Panama City Beach for a while and decided to head down to Mexico Beach, as we were told how beautiful it is. My brother-in-law chose Rustic Sands because it was a Passport America park and the initial advertising was for $26.00 a night. We didn't read the fine print as that price was a winter rate. The price ended being $53.00 a night and $3 for each additional person. There were four of us, so it cost us $59.00. There aren't a lot of places to choose from in Mexico Beach, which is probably why then can get away with charging so much. We parked on dirt/grass, no patio, the showers were small and awful and there was only one dressing area that the two showers shared. WiFi was awful, and the cable was out at our site. The pool was in pretty good shape and there was a bar, beer and wine only, with music at night. We were going to stay for four nights and left after one and went back to Panama City Beach. We won't be staying there again. We camped at Rustic Sands RV Resort Campground in a Motorhome.

Payne Campground COE, Acworth, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

There are beautiful trees everywhere and our site was very quiet. Site 62 has a small slice of a view of the lake but not much shade. The site was level with gravel; there is a "patio area" that is composed of small rocks with a fire pit and lantern pole. There is only one bathhouse in the campground, which doesn't seem enough, however, I never had to wait. The bathrooms are more than adequate for a state campground, while we were there, one of the showers didn't have a shower head, and staff said they would look into it right away. Camp staff was very friendly and helpful. Interior roads are easy to navigate. Verizon worked great and we received a good selection of OTA channels. We would definitely stay again. We camped at Payne Campground COE in a Motorhome.

Emerald Beach RV Park, Navarre, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Great campground. I'm very happy that we chose Emerald Coast over the other parks nearby. Very level concrete lots with gravel, concrete patio, picnic table, and unobtrusive exterior lighting. The roads are easy to navigate and we had plenty of room for our motorhome, tow, and car. Some spots have trees, ours did not. Next time I would like some shade. There are two bathhouses. The one near the front office area is older and the shower stalls are smaller. The newer bathhouse has spacious showers and toilet stalls. Both bathhouses were very clean as was the laundry room, wash $1.75, dry $1.25. The park is located on the sound with a beach, beach chairs, and grass-covered umbrellas. There is an approximately 150' dock with a pavilion that goes out over the sound with terrific views of Navarre Beach area. There is also a pool and community room where they had a Friday night ice cream social and movie night on the lawn. We would definitely stay again. We camped at Emerald Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Panama City Beach RV Resort, Panama City Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $78.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second visit. Location, location, location to the beach. It's a short two- block walk before your feet hit the beautiful sand of Panama City Beach. If you want the excitement of PCB, this is not the place. It's at the quiet end of Thomas Drive, which was perfect for us. The bathrooms are very clean as is the laundry. The pool is very nice. Office staff and hosts are wonderful. They spend a good deal of time keeping the grounds clean and neat. When we first arrived, we were a bit disappointed in the grounds as three years ago when we were there, there was grass between sites and this time, there was pine straw and sand. It is my understanding that there has been a change of ownership and there was a problem with sprinklers, but soon the grass is supposed to be replaced. Roads are easy to navigate and beautiful as there are brick pavers. Our site was concrete and very level. We really love the park and will definitely stay again even if they don't replace the grass. Thanks to the staff for being so helpful. We camped at Panama City Beach RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Blue Ridge Lodge and RV Park, Morganton, Georgia

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This campground did not work for us. I realized that the review I read on the RV Review website was 4 years old and there was only one review. Also, I believe that most of the reviews on Google were based on staying in the "lodge" area, which is actually an older style motel not the RV area. The positives: The owner is really nice and accommodating and he refunded all of my money including the night we stayed, the WiFi was very strong when people weren't streaming, we had great cable selections, and there are fabulous views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The not so positives: The sites are small gravel sites with grass in between. There are a lot of full timers, the road is narrow and dirt, and there is no bathhouse, laundry facilities, patio, fire pit, or table. We needed a much larger site with paved area for my grandchild to ride her bike. Thanks to the owner for the refund. We camped at Blue Ridge Lodge and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Bolding Mill COE, Gainesville, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is beautiful and so incredibly peaceful. There is a good distance between campsites. The large "patio" is decomposed granite, which was really nice, there is a fire pit and large picnic table. When we arrived we got some OTA channels, but when the clouds cleared so did our channels. The bathhouse was very clean and in good shape. The camp hosts are wonderful and friendly. They take great pride in the campground, as if it was their own. We would definitely stay again. Sawyers Mobile Home Estates & RV Park, Smiths Station, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

I was quite disappointed in the place considering the previous reviews. It's a mobile home park, which I was aware of, with a few spaces for RVs. What was most dissatisfying, considering it was $35.00 a night, was that there was no bathhouse or laundry and no WiFi or cable, because the cable was broken at our site. The site was level and we had no problem in length for our 30 ft. motorhome, car dolly, and car. We only stayed for one night, so it was doable, but I won't want to stay longer. We camped at Sawyers Mobile Home Estates & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Magnolia Branch Wildlife Reserve, Atmore, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is owned by the Poarch Creek Indians. The place is beautiful. Many, many acres of wooded area, a lake, a river for tubing, zip lining, canoeing, and bicycling. It is a great place for families. The season hadn't started yet so it was very quiet. It was so quiet that we had trouble going to sleep. Our site was a level dirt spot, with electric and water, no dump, WiFi, or cable; we could get OTA channels. The roads were very easy to negotiate and there were washers and dryers, 75 cents each. Alcohol and firearms are not allowed. It's a beautiful place and would be great for family reunions or groups. They allow fishing; I don't fish so I know nothing about it. I would give the campground a 10 for beauty and serenity. Since there is not a sewer at the site I gave it the 8. We would stay again. We camped at Magnolia Branch Wildlife Reserve in a Motorhome.

New Orleans KOA, River Ridge, Louisiana

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is really nice. We have a nice level spot, however the spot is above the road and there is a bit of a dip that made it difficult to negotiate backing in with a trailer. A few other campsites have the same issue and we watched more than one motorhome unable to negotiate the change of elevation. We have a nice size patio and a picnic table, trees on both sides, and grass. Each shower is a private shower room; there are sinks in the toilet rooms. The laundry has 6 washers and 6 dryers; washer is $1.25 and $.75 for dryer, also very clean. The campground offers a free shuttle into New Orleans every day, and will pick you up. There are train tracks nearby, but the train is not obnoxious. The airport is also nearby, but they don't generally fly over the campground. Depending on the runway they use you either hear the planes or not at all. The staff is wonderful, professional, and helpful. Our site has a tendency to flood, however, the staff was on top of it and kept it at a minimum. At one point we would have had difficulties getting out of the motorhome if we had wanted to. In spite of that, we would definitely stay again. We camped at New Orleans KOA in a Motorhome.

Dellanera RV Park , Galveston, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

The park is operated by the Park Board of Trustees of the City of Galveston. Our site overlooked the ocean with a fabulous view out the back window; too bad the sites aren't set up to pull in instead of backing in. Our site was a very level concrete pad with a patio and picnic table. Verizon works great as does the WiFi, no cable but there are a lot of over the air channels. The bathrooms are clean, but a little old. Washer $1.00 and Dryer: $.75 each. There is a great covered play area for the kiddos and nice boardwalk to the beach. The park is surrounded by a natural pond and there are tons of water fowl. We would definitely stay again. We camped at Dellanera RV Park in a Motorhome.

Surfside RV & Resort, Port Aransas, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

The park is small, only 45 spaces. I believe it had extensive damage from Hurricane Harvey in August 2017 as the community center and office are brand new, in fact, not quite finished. The brand new very clean bathrooms are private rooms with toilet, sink, and large shower. The showers have great water pressure and plenty of hot water. There's a small pool and spa.

Our 30' motorhome and trailer took up the entire site; we parked our car in the overflow parking. We are parked on a very level concrete site with grass next to us, no patio or picnic table. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to put our rug on the grass. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

There is a fairly short three-block walk to the ocean. There are new front-loading washing machines and dryers - $2.00 each. There's a good selection of cable channels, Verizon works great, free WiFi only in the community center, otherwise, you have to purchase.

We would definitely stay again. I wouldn't exactly call it a resort, but it's a great little park. Eleventh Street is a good street to ride a bicycle on and get into town. We camped at Surfside RV & Resort in a Motorhome.
