Streetsboro / Cleveland SE KOA, Streetsboro, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $82.00
Overall Rating:

Our site was a pull through. It was mostly grass. We arrived after a significant period of rain and there was no way to position on the site without having the door in a pond of water. The entrance to the facility requires a "pass card" to get though the gate. We have stayed at dozens of KOAs but this is the first requiring a physical "pass card' to raise a gate. This created a bottle neck getting into the campground and an inconvenience in returning the card. The streets were narrow, rutted, and provided little leeway when meeting another RV. We camped at Streetsboro / Cleveland SE KOA in a Motorhome.

Hersheypark Camping Resort, Hummelstown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $105.00
Overall Rating:

Hershey campground was very tight. Our neighbors sewer connection was practically under our picnic table. With that said, the park was great for visiting the park. The camp store was great with lots of Hershey Park souvenirs. We camped at Hersheypark Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Niagara Falls / Grand Island KOA, Grand Island, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $106.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this KOA through the July 4th week. We had two afternoons where our power monitor cut power due to low voltage. We even tried a 50amp to 30 amp dog bone adapter but the voltage was still less than 110 volts. With two folks needing CPAP machines this was not good. On a third afternoon, we lost voltage and resorted to the generator for a couple of hours to run the AC. We finally ended up removing our Progressive Industries power monitor so we could run AC and CPAPs (NOT GOOD). Beyond the power issues, we enjoyed the park. Typical KOA with the sites a little close but amenities were good. We enjoyed the front swimming pool. It has shade during the evening. We were nearer the front of the campground so no issue with road noise. The fireworks from the adjacent amusement park were enjoyable. The service rating indicates the poor electrical service. The staff were friendly. We camped at Niagara Falls / Grand Island KOA in a Motorhome.

Dayton KOA, Brookville, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

Nice KOA with lots of activities for children. The restrooms and laundry facilities were excellent. The primary issue we had was the slope of the site. Our site had a significant grade front to rear. We needed inch rise for the rear wheels. Our sewer hose had to run up hill to the connection. We have a slinky sewer support for 15 feet but that was insufficient. We used plastic containers to provide additional height. When it rained, the downhill flow through our site was so strong it washed the containers out from under the sewer hose. We camped at Dayton KOA in a Motorhome.

Orlando NW / Orange Blossom KOA, Apopka, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived just after the office closed. We were escorted to our site by a "helper". I disconnected my tow car in the street on the asphalt where everything was level and straight. The "helper" expressed his displeasure stating I had a pull through site and should have unhooked on site. The site has a sand/crushed gravel surface and I would have had to pull further in to get an easy disconnect. When pulling into the site, the "helper" wanted me to be pull more to the curb side crowding my patio. I preferred pulling more to the utility side to have more room. The "helper" attempted to correct me and shook his head for not following his unsolicited advice. Mosquitos were bad near sun set. More concerning was the terrible sewer smell. There is a sewer processing facility near the north-east corner of the campground. Showers and office closed 11:00-1:00. Garbage is picked up by 10:00am otherwise take to dumpsters at front of campground. Cable TV was good. WiFi had a strong signal but limited throughput. We camped at Orlando NW / Orange Blossom KOA in a Motorhome.

Ozark / Fort Rucker KOA, Ozark, Alabama

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

An overnight stay. Easy access from the highway. The host escorted us to our site and even dusted the picnic table and utility post for the pollen. The central part of the campground was very nice with nice areas to walk the dog. There were 'long stay' sites but they were located farther away from the central part of the campground. Pool was still closed for the season. Cable TV was clear with sufficient channels. Site was level with easy access. We were called the day before arrival to check on our need. Excellent service. We camped at Ozark / Fort Rucker KOA in a Motorhome.

Service Park Campground COE, Coffeeville, Alabama

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Small CoE park right on the Tombigbee River. View of the river and tows was excellent. The park has few campsites but very good spacing and views. Site was a pull through on the water. At 35 feet plus toad, i was able to unhook on the site. The turnaround at the end of the park was tight, so I turned the RV around before hooking up the toad. As mentioned elsewhere, the log trucks make a left hand exit from the park an adventure. ATT cell service was intermittent but Verizon worked very well. We camped at Service Park Campground COE in a Motorhome.

Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated), Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Grand Canyon Trailer Village is all about location, location, location. The site was gravel, unloved front to back and side to side. The site offered a small tree on one side an picnic table on the other. WiFi is non-existent in the campground with very limited cellular (ATT or Verizon). However, we were one mile walk from the South Rim Visitor Center. The Grand Canyon NP bus system picked up in the campground and the Market Plaza was with in walking distance. We had elk walk through the campground and the clarity of night stars are awesome. We camped at Trailer Village (Concessionnaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Take the opportunity to turn off all outside lights and any inside lights that filter outside. Just sit in as much darkness as you can find to observe the night sky. Awesome. Also, look for the elk just before dusk. We saw 10-12 each evening.

Shallow Creek Golf & RV Resort, Gladewater, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Stopped for an overnight while traveling through Texas. The park had a mixture of travelers and longterm guests. Our site was level and was long enough to pull-through without unhooking the toad. The swimming pool was very nice, well kept and clean. I would stay here again. We camped at Shallow Creek Golf & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent RV park with paved level sites with picnic tables and some grass between sites. The pool was outstanding after a long day of traveling. Not many trees or shade. Our stop was just an overnight but would not hesitate to stop at this park longer to explore the Amarillo area. The Cadillac Park is just down the road. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Motorhome.

The Big Texan restaurant and store is heavily advertised on the approach in to Amarillo. We went at ~8:30 on a Friday night during a rain storm. The place was extremely crowded with poor service and poor food. Recommend skipping the Big Texan while passing through Amarillo.

Cedar City KOA, Cedar City, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We had a great stay at this KOA. The site was a back-in shaded by big trees. It had amble space between sites (for the B row). Since the site was backend we had to unhook the toad (as planned). The site had plenty of room for the toad at the front of the site.

The host was friendly, with the camp store staying open to 9:00 (or 10:00). They had a small gas fireplace out front in the evenings offering ice cream for a small fee. The swimming pool was refreshing and clean although it closed it 9:00 which was too early considering sunset was at 8:50. We camped at Cedar City KOA in a Motorhome.

Portal RV Resort and Campground, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This review is about the "campground" portion of the park not the resort.

The sites are crushed gravel with a small concrete patio for the picnic table. Most of the sites are pull through. If better level our site would have accommodated the RV and Toad at 50 feet. The "resort/owners" section appears to be very nice. Overall, I would try a different park when in the area again.

Pros:

Great location just north of Moab makes it quiet but convenient.

Some shade. Utilities worked as expected.

Better than normal WiFi and for ATT and Verizon

Dog area is great. Grass with a bench and shade trees.

Cons:

The restrooms in the permanent structure do not include showers and are not air conditioned. Today it is 105 in Moab.

They have brought in a trailer with portal shower/toilets. It has three stalls. Each with a toilet and shower. It is air conditioned but the smell in the three stalls is wretched.

The Swimming Pond is in no way a substitute for a swimming pool. Again 105 in Moab today.

The Laundry facilities are lacking with the ceiling partly falling down.

The first three rows of pull through sites slope back to front so much that my levelers could not get the front end high enough even with both wheels off the ground. We had ramps and pads so it worked out for us but others will have issues.

Site spacing can be tight. One night we had a travel trailer with a deep slide on our patio side. His slide extended over onto our patio concrete. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Lake Lurleen State Park, Coker, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Lake Lurleen is a beautiful State Park just outside Tuscaloosa/Northport Alabama. The park, like most Alabama State Parks, needs updating and refreshed. The sites are generally cracking alphalt with varying degrees of levelness. We stayed at a site in Section A directly on the water. The site was deteriorating due to water run-off around the edges. It was a back-in and accommodated our 35' C-Class OK. Anything bigger would have the front bumper near the road. The park offers several fishing piers, paddle boats and jon boat rentals. We camped at Lake Lurleen State Park in a Motorhome.
