Scissortail RV Park, Ada, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a newer location and our site appeared to be a new addition to the park. The folks running the show were extremely nice and friendly. We stayed for the weekend to attend a graduation at the college. This is a newer, well-kept park and we would stay here again. All the sites had full hookups, cable, wifi. No playground. There are no grills, patio tables or fire-rings provided. Sites are very close together with many permanent setups. Outdoor music of any kind is not allowed. 11am checkout or $3/hour late fee. It is near both an active train track and a state highway interchange. You will hear train horns and semi-trailer tractors using their exhaust brakes if you have your windows open. A fine place for a couple night stay, but not a resort. We camped at Scissortail RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Roman Nose State Park & Lodge, Watonga, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Tw0 Lakes CG is a small 9 space campground situated on a spit of ground extending into Lake Watonga. There is a miniature golf-course, a small convenience store, and paddle boat rentals adjacent. Lake Watonga is a popular fishing lake, but no wading or swimming. Our site faced away from the other spaces and toward the lake. This space is right along the path that the people follow along the water to fish, so if you are particular about people crossing your campsite, choose another. The space has paved approaches with concrete pads. Both 30 and 50 amp electrical. This campground has full hookups. There are trees in the area, but not shading the sites. There is no "comfort" facility at this campground, but there is one down the road at the next campground. We camped at Roman Nose State Park & Lodge in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This campground has miniature golf and paddleboat rentals for a fee. There is a restaurant at the Park Lodge, but otherwise little in the area. You will have to go into Watonga for any supplies.

Mockingbird Hill RV Park, Burleson, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This park is located along I-35W just outside of Fort Worth. So a good location for accessing entertainment/dining/etc in the Metroplex. You can hear the truck traffic from the Interstate, but it really didn't bother us much. Roads in the park are gravel and have some washouts. Pad was asphalt and not completely level. There is a mix of premanufactured homes and travel trailers in the park. There is mix of long-term/permanent and through-stay in the park as well. Full hook-ups, pull-through sites with cable. One highlight, there are sewer connections at both the rear of the site and middle for those coaches with mid-rig drains. Can't say enough about the friendliness of the staff. Very welcoming and really took care to see that we were setup and happy. Not a resort park, there is one of those furry animal places across the highway for those wanting more amenities and having deeper pockets. We were attending a workshop in Venus, TX and this was a great place for us to lay our heads each evening. We would stay here again. We camped at Mockingbird Hill RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Supply Park COE, Fort Supply, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Registration was quick and easy. Reserved site online. Paved roads and pads. Most sites have covered tables. Saw regular law enforcement patrols. There are 110 sites at this campground, and only one dump station. We would stay here again. We camped at Supply Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

Alabaster Caverns State Park, Freedom, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: June, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice, very clean RV area. West side sites closer to the playground than the East side sites. North end is closer to the park office and the day travelers touring the cave. South end is nearer the outdoor pavilion and open grassy areas. This is one of a handful of OK State Parks that accept online reservations. Site was clean and marked as reserved. Good water pressure. Concrete pads with paved approaches. No fire rings, but this is the edge of the grassy plains. 30amp sites only. A great place to rest and relax, but not much for a family to do. We camped at Alabaster Caverns State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Alabaster Caverns State Park of course has a cave. One of a few gypsum caves in the U.S. open to the public. A little pricey at $10 a head, but an interesting tour nonetheless. On a hot day, the coolness of the cave might be worth every cent!

Mingo RV Park, Tulsa, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Park was clean and well-maintained. Staff very friendly and helpful. This park is mostly long-term/permanent, but there is a section of pull-through sites for short-term stays. Full hook-ups + basic cable. All services worked well. This is not a vacation resort, but is a great value if you have plans to be away from your site all day (business/event/site-seeing). A good location for just about anywhere in Tulsa or Owasso. It is near the airport, but truthfully, the airplanes were not anywhere near as noisy or as frequent as the thunder the weekend we stayed. We camped at Mingo RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Foss State Park, Foss, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Cedar Point Campground at Foss State Park. One of the newer campgrounds. Concrete pads and very, very new picnic tables and fire rings. Campground is on the south end of the lake, so would probably be quite cool in the winter. Park staff was great to deal with. One of two campgrounds at Foss State Park that can be reserved on-line in advance of your trip. We camped at Foss State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Chickasaw NRA (Buckhorn Campground), Sulphur, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is very well maintained. Trash receptacles for each site. Sites were laid-out back when travel trailers were much shorter and without slides. We have a 30' RV and there are only a few sites on the D loop that would accommodate us. Water and electrical hookups are very close to the pad. For our slide, we had to cheat over quite bit to clear the hookups. These issues aside, the park is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay. We camped at Chickasaw NRA (Buckhorn Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Buckhorn RV Park, Sulphur, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: December, 2014 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Park is about half permanent and half short-term. Part of the park is along a shaded creek and the other around a small pond. Spaces are wide and have a covered picnic table. Firewood for the fire ring was supplied.

Full hook-ups for less than the water/elec only National Rec Area down the road. Easy access to Sulphur and its attractions. The folks running the place are super friendly and easy to deal with. We camped at Buckhorn RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
