This campground is a fine place for an overnight or weekend stop. Not recommended for a week long stay. Grounds are right along the New River in Gualey Bridge where the New River and Gualey River join to form the Kanawha. There are a lot of attractions in the area. This is the only full hook up campground in the area. Great fishing. The lots are very sandy because when the river is up the campground floods. The operators are nice but will allow anyone in. Neighbors on one side were roudy drunks but eventually left that evening. Neighbors on other side used a log splitter from 6pm to 10pm splitting firewood. We felt that the owners could do a lot better with this campground. We were there in August and it wasn't crowded at all. The New River Campground, Inc. purchased November 1998 by the West Virginia Paralyzed Veterans of America, Inc. (WV-PVA, which was started in 1990. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
