Call ahead to inquire - no formal reservations. 20 pretty level spaces, all in very good condition. Any size rig you bring will have plenty of room. Grass sites with concrete patio pad. Water pressure and quality is good, 50A power good and stable, WiFi strong (cell too), QUIET, felt safe here. Walk to hardware store and grocery. Walmart about a mile. Cash or check. Couple of older fellows operate and maintain the place - pleasant conversation. Good place if you're visiting family for a few days & the price is right. Real good breakfast buffet at Fletcher's - West side of town on Rt55. Check overhead image on the address - can't see from main highway. I recommend coming in by West entrance if able. Will be staying here again when visiting family in Andalusia. - jtids

Apr 2009 - $15.00
Owned by the Alabama/West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church. Located near MM 8.5 north of the AL/FL line on SR 137, just north of Wing. Pros: Extremely quiet (although during camp events, that might change). Restrooms and showers very clean. Bicycling along camp roads easy, fun. Beautiful swimming pool, bathhouse. Lake canoeing and paddle boats. Sand beach across lake in Conecuh National Forest. Internet available in lobby. Staff extremely friendly. Food service during camp events (fee). Sites grassy to leafy. Cons: Sites nearest the gymnasium have sewer, those opposite do not. Sewer holes, dump station in need of major upgrade. Pine cones everywhere. Some sites would be difficult to negotiate with trailer or big rig due to narrows and trees. Cell phone coverage spotty at best, better out near the highway. We would camp here again. - The Happy Traveler

Basics: Roads paved with easy access. Sites large with gravel patio, fire ring, picnic table, lantern hook, level. Power 50/30/20 and water/dump station on the way out. Bathrooms cleanish to dirty. Showers started dirty and got disgusting. We were there 5 days and they were only cleaned once. Camp hosts were nowhere to be found and not at their site till the weekend. I was told that they both disappear during the week and sometimes show up on weekends. The sites were full of micro to small trash and there were large amounts of partially burned food items and plastics. The showers had push button activators that you had to push 5-6 times to get water that was less cold to warmish but had good pressure. There was a very weak Verizon 3G signal for phone that worked sometimes and the Mifi would only work late at night or early morning (pre dawn) and work very slowly. We found that if you drove up an old logging road near the campground you could get good 4G Verizon Mifi. Outside of the negatives this is a very nice CG. Loops C&D have power and water, Loop A has no power and only hose bibs around. Loop B is group camps. The CG is located on a nice little pond with several ponds in the area. There are nice hiking trails offering 6-7 mile loops and out and back hikes/Mtn. bike trails. The place is very quiet; however, there are frequent small jet and airplane traffic and occasional military aircraft. We'd stay here again if we're in the area. - pumper9x9
Jan 2017 - $12.00
One of our favorite get-aways in this region. Since I have provided reviews in the past, I'll let those reviews stand since little has changed. But one item of note: For the first time, we were hit with ticks. Both dog and deer ticks. I am suspecting we picked them up in a grassy area along Open Pond on the trail that circles the pond at the east end of the "D-Loop". It has been a warm winter, so I suppose I should not be so surprised. Nevertheless, campers (and their dogs) need to be mindful that ticks were very present. The deer ticks, especially, are of great concern because of Lyme Disease. We know one person who was working on trail clearing in the adjacent Blackwater River State Forest on the Florida side of the state line who did contract Lyme Disease. Open Pond is a great, relaxing campground (perhaps one of the best public campgrounds for a hundred miles around). Just make sure you are checking yourself and pets for ticks. - The Happy Traveler
Nov 2016 - $16.00
Nice forest service campground in Conecuh National Forest in southern Alabama, just north of the Florida state line. Campground host was very friendly and price at 16 for Water & 50 amp was a good value. Campground was busy and is first come first serve, no reservations allowed. The Conecuh trail is walking distance from the campground. Very shady, so satellite reception could be a problem. Cell service was spotty, but we were able to get a reliable data connection on verizon using a cell phone booster. Open pond was quiet and peaceful. Strangely there were very few birds during our visit. This is a good, cheap place to camp in Southern Alabama about 20 miles from Andalusia. Getting in and out of the dump station is very very tight for big rigs. - Stax

Mar 2018 - $30.00
Best part: service from the owner gentleman. Super helpful. The park is nice and he is making a lot of improvements. The sites are mostly shaded with well kept mature trees. The park is on the lake with 3 fishing piers. Not great for kids, no good swimming or play equipment. Very quiet at night but there are a lot of permanent residents here. - Mudpuppy78
Sep 2017 - $40.00
This wonderful campground did an emergency reopening to assist with people fleeing Hurricane Irma. They were clean, helpful, friendly and did *not* jack up their rates. Just cannot say enough about how terrific the owners were. If I ever find myself in the part of the country again, I will go out of my way to stay at this campground. - Full-Time-RVer
May 2017 - $10.00
The web site is contradictory. Upon arrival with a 10lb dog, they said no pets allowed. There is no store, They sell no ice. They lock the restrooms at night. No hot water. No grills to cook on. No nearby garbage receptacles. There was broken glass all on the ground and knee tall poison sumac everywhere. Not to mention roots poking up everywhere. This was in the tent camping section. This place could be a gold mine with a lot of work. The grounds need leveling and topsoil brought in to cover roots (and glass). - often camper

Jun 2017 - $25.00
This park is a friendly and safe park. The water activities and fishing was great. The owners were extremely helpful and nice. We look forward to our next camping trip. - Lane S.
May 2017 - $26.00
The park was under construction due due some sort of drainage or sewer problem. There was a dead bird on our site; no biggie, but it looked like it had been there for a good while. The homesteaders don't tie up their dogs, and look pretty comfortable (accumulated stuff) in the park. The lake was nice, as was the country store. The WIFI wouldn't have worked at our site, but we have the Alfa Campro wifi extender, so we were good. - wadebbi
Feb 2017 - $55.00
The owners are very busy updating this campground. We stayed in a onsite travel trailer. And will return with our camper next winter. We have been camping for over 50 years and seen everything, this campground has the most helpful, friendly, welcoming owner we have ever seen. Outstanding. - Jackson Dial

Sep 2018 - $35.00
Out of the way park. We enjoyed our stay. Wanted to rent a boat but it rained all week. The staff went above and beyond for anything we wanted or needed. Had a band the weekend we were there and that was fun. - Kcdmama
Sep 2017 - $29.00
Came to this park as part of the evacuation of Florida for hurricane Irma. Manager, and his staff, could not have been kinder or more generous. The manager was doing everything he could to find a spot for evacuees to get them off the road. I was met by camp workers at 12:30 am (after a 13 hour drive) to get me backed in and settled. Over the weekend, there was free food available for everyone at the unfinished (at that time) pavilion. Roads and sites are gravel and dirt. Water pressure is over 100 lbs, so be sure to use a pressure regulator. Motor gasoline, as well as, non-ethanol gasoline is available for campers and the general public. Main office has a small store with the usual supplies. Verizon voice and data excellent. ATT is non-existent. I am told you can get ATT service at the boat dock. We look forward to returning here for a much more leisurely stay. - moderate camper
Sep 2017 - $28.00
We evacuated from Fort Myers, FL from Hurricane Irma. So happy to get a spot in this awesome campground with truly compassionate staff. They even grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, had potato salad, baked beans, desserts for all of their campers, FREE of charge. May God bless everyone of them. We will return in better times to visit such an awesome campground and staff. Thank you many times over. To know you really care and want to help us in this time of need is so overwhelming. - Deb and Greg

Second time to staying at Frank Jackson. We love it here! Small but peaceful. Friendly staff, laid back, view is awesome. Jackson lake is an added bonus! - Roadtrip500
Sep 2018 - $47.00
We love this park! Friendly staff. Lots of beautiful back-in, lakeside sites. It is fun to take a run on the trails and across the bridge to run on the island. Hookups work well. Quiet park. - sp123
Jan 2018 - $40.00
This is a nice state park beautifully set on a lake created by a nearby dam. Most of the spaces are on the water, with a few, mostly larger spaces above the main area and away from the water. All the spaces are blind-side back ins. We came with a larger fifth wheel (36ft), and backing wasn't easy in the only spot we found left when we arrived (we had a reservation, but at Frank Jackson a reservation is just a hunting license for any open spaces -- there are no reservations for specific sites). The hookups were good (50 amp power, water, sewer, and cable TV). The TV cable offered many dozens of channels, some in full HD. It was the dead of winter when we were there, so we can't offer any opinion on boating or other water activities, but I suspect they are nice. The town of Opp is very close by, but other than a few fast food choices, there's not much shopping. Andalusia, about 15 minutes west, has a Walmart and somewhat more varied offerings in the shopping and restaurant categories. We'd gladly stay here again provided we arrived much earlier in the day to get a better space. - Bbsanmob

Dec 2018 - $30.00
We stayed here one night as we were passing through. We were able to call and make a reservation. However, when we arrived at 3:00 on Friday, there was no one there to check us in. The payment (cash or check) is self service. Sites available are first come first serve. The site was crushed rock with a picnic table. The site was level and suitable. We would stay here again if we were in the area. - jwindham
Jul 2018 - $30.00
Lake Jackson is a nice little campground among the Cyprus trees along the shore of Lake Jackson. It was once a state park that is now operated by the city of Florala. There are 28 sites with full hookups. They are level gravel and for the most part spacious. The interior road is paved. The first 12 sites are on the lake. Reservations are accepted but all sites are first come first serve. The bath house is a little dated but clean and neat. The campground is a part of a larger park complex that runs along the shore of Lake Jackson. Both campground and city park are well maintained and clean. There is a nice paved walking trail that runs from the campground, along the edge of the park and into downtown Florala. Cable is provided by Dish network but there only a few channels and the quality was not good. Off air antenna reception for the major networks was good and Verizon signal was excellent, 4 bars. Wi-Fi is available but very unreliable. This is a nice out of the way park good for a few days of relaxing. - bamawig
Oct 2015 - $28.00
I gave a satisfactory rating because the park is in transition from state to city and there are some maintenance issues because of it. State has pulled out the laundry facilities and slacked off on maintenance. Lake side sites were $35 while across the road were $28. All sites have water & electric, level and tree lined. Our B was the smallest camper there, about 4 other sites had 5'ers, all other sites were empty. 28 total sites. We had a beautiful lakefront site. Hope this park doesn't fall into disrepair. - garmp
