This park is a nice place to stay for overnight or longer term when visiting the Mobile area. It's close to I-10 and relatively close to I-65 which allows you to efficiently navigate the area. As others have stated, the park is mostly longer term residents but contains a central area with pull-thru sites for transient RVers. The park is, in fact, shady. However, squirrels in the oak trees may drop/throw acorns down onto the roof of your RV. While this didn't particularly bother me, our dogs found it most annoying! Our site was level, shaded, and the utilities worked well including the cable TV. Office attendant was friendly and helpful - offering advice on touring the Mobile area. We enjoyed the USS Alabama military park which also includes the USS Drum submarine and a very nice airplane exhibit. The airplane exhibit includes an A-12 OXCART (that's the CIA version of the USAF SR-71) which is particularly interesting. We also recommend visiting the town of Fairhope AL - located on the eastern side of Mobile bay, about 35 minutes from this park. In Fairhope, you will find many interesting privately owned shops - much better than going to a mall! - CampingWithPoodles

While most of the sites are filled with 'resident' campers, it is a quiet & clean park. It offers basic services, no pool, playground etc. Hosts are very friendly & helpful if you want info about the area. We stay here any time we are in the area. We have a 38' motorcoach with tow vehicle & it all fits in most of the RV slots. Larger motorcoaches will find the park a tight fit & several sites have large trees to maneuver around either pulling in or out of the slots. Not all sites are level; we have to use wheel supports most times we stay. You can hear the local train while in the park but not loud enough to effect sleep. Wifi appears to have been upgraded & offers good service even in the evenings when many are streaming. - Peppercatt

The owner came to meet us and it was after 6pm, was an excellent host. We were treated very hospitably. The site was level and clean, Wifi was good . We didn't use the restrooms. Area was quiet . I will stay here again. Close to I 10. - wberg

This is a very small campground next to a marina. The marina is very nice and has great food and a bar (which means nightly activities). The sites are very short and very narrow. It rained and our steps led right down into a muddy area. Most sites sit right on the little road you take to pull in, so you are right in the traffic area. There are no restrooms or shower facilities. There are also a few permanent residents there, but it is directly across the entrance from River Bend Campground which has lots and lots of permanent residents. It was fine for meeting our friends to get on their boat and ride the river and go out to the islands, but would not stay there if there if not for that. - TerryMScampers

Jan 2008 - $25.00
Most 30 amp, a few 50 amp. Grass back-in sites with asphalt streets. All connections at extreme rear of site, so sewer extensions are required. Somewhat pricey for what you get. We were with a group. - AFChap
Jul 2008 - $25.00
Without going into great detail, allow me to merely state that were were treated rudely by the owner/management. The available amenities are in poor repair, the landscaping had been let go badly and the grass was un-mowed. We were infested by sugar ants throughout our stay. This is more of a long-term stay park with lots of mobile homes interspersed among the RVs. The park sites are not level as the park is located on a slope. The office doesn't keep an regular hours. Next time we'd rather drive an extra hour out of our way to avoid this miserable park. Why it is rated by Trailer Life I can't imagine. - oRV
Nov 2007 - $22.00
Although close to Mobile, this is not a campground. It is a full time trailer park with 8 sites for transients. The park is for sale and the owner/manager does not seem interested in renting out overnight spots. In fact, he was downright rude. No restrooms, no facilities and a very narrow road make this a poor choice for an overnight stay in Mobile. We will not return. - lmg

We were here only 1 night but it was comfortable and nice. - fdr
May 2017 - $23.00
This is a 40 year led RV Park that is softly long-term locals living there, some the full 40 years. It's not too easy to get into, and there were about 3-4 pull throughs for use by overnighters. They did have good water, 50 amp electric and free wifi, but other than that, not much else. We couldn't get but 3-4 channels on cable, but got 33 on our antenna so that was ok. I would only recommend it if you need a place to pull over for the night. We were visiting a relative who lived there, otherwise would not have gone there. The check-in people are nice and the man on the phone was very nice. - Ginny H
Aug 2016 - $23.00
Old, needs updating. Showers 1960s era, wore flip flops! Sewer 1 foot in air under neighbor's huge RV....very inconvenient and weird, didn't drain well. Nice shade, nice neighbors and check-in. If you pay cash, bring exact change, they won't reimburse you with change! High price for services provided. I have Passport America and was charged $23.00 per night. Limited cell and no TV. - ljontour
Mar 2016 - $15.00
While this is a "no frills" kind of campground, we enjoyed our month stay. While the majority of campers here are permanent, it was like it's own little community and everyone welcomed you with a wave. Marlene and Jimmy, the park managers were welcoming, helpful and just really nice folks. There are 3 washers and 3 dryers, a bit expensive at 1.75 each but they were good sized. We used the showers once (last day of stay), they were functional with good pressure and hot water, but while clean, they could definitely use some updating. Great little park for a couple of nights or a couple of weeks. - Outlaw Pilots
Nov 2018 - $28.00
The park is a more rustic and smaller than the average large park. The nightly rate was a just $28.00! It is next to I10 and very easy to get to. Camp site was level with dirt & gravel but no picnc table or fire pit. It had 30-50 amp service. Our pull-through was just easily long enough for our 40ft motorhome towing vehicle. There were some trees around the park but were able to get satellite reception with no difficulty. Very quiet (you could hear the birds) and only about half the camp sites were filled so they let us pick the site we liked best. Good Sprint and ATT service. Will definitely stay here again when in the area. - don-marg
Jun 2018 - $28.00
This is our 6th stay in this park over the past 2 years. It is an exceptional value, very unlike the portrayal of an earlier review posted on this site. The staff are thoughtful and helpful in every way, the park is truly spacious and kept clean, the saltwater pool is crystal clear, and both the short termers and long termers are friendly and considerate. It is quiet with a gorgeous country setting, the water/sewer/electric have always been faultless, and there are convenient dog-walk areas surrounding the spaces. The freeway is a mile (as the crow flies) and 3 miles by road (less than 5 min), but no freeway noise whatever at the park. The park has 2 sections - front and rear, separated by much grassy area. About half of the front section are pull-thru sites, and nearly all of those in the rear are back-in. - nationcruiser

I love this park. The pool is beautiful, Family oriented, and My stay here has been great. - Ashley gray
Jan 2019 - $13.00
Stayed for 3 nights over New Years. Sites are gravel, generally well separated and fairly level, but have some roots and rocks in the case of site 22. Restrooms are old, but clean. Park staff helpful but noted that the maintenance budget is not adequate. Had a dead branch fall on my awning but no damage done. The park has an extensive trail system, but rain made some of the trails unusable. The area is typical Gulf coast marsh and forest. Would definitely come back, preferably in drier weather. - John McHugh
Oct 2018 - $13.00
Off the beaten path. Our site was very spacious - pull through - seemingly the largest in the park. Several others that would have worked fine, but many smaller ones as well. Most had a fire pit - ours didn't. Densely wooded and lots of underbrush surrounded by marsh. Friendly staff. Level crushed rock roads and sites in good repair. Would stay again. - Sonic
Mar 2016 - $18.00
We found this park to be very clean and easy to get around in. Yes there were a couple of low hanging branches but nothing that was a worry.
We did not use the bath house so can not assess it's cleanliness but the rest of the park seemed to be very clean.
The lady at the front office was very helpful and welcoming.
We had 50 amp power and water, which a lot of state parks do not have either.
I think for the value it is a great place to stay, especially with the amenities it had.
We would certainly state here again if in the area. - prstlkid
Dec 2018 - $35.00
Too many RV parks use the word "Resort" when it doesn't apply. Too many full-time trailers here. Tight turns for large RVs. Entrance looks like it is going to be a resort but the entrance is the best part. Didn't go to the bayou - perhaps it looks better there.... - Nrf
Jun 2018 - $25.00
Nice park for price. Site was level enough. We drove up on several blocks and did not unhook. Close to highway-5 minutes. Small pool and resturant. Small picnic table at site. Nice lighted fishing dock and areas to tie up boats. Many people staying here were longer stays with boats. Older large park with a lot of area with shade to walk the dog. We are traveling with an active dog-lots of squirrels for him to point on. There were alligators around the boat docks so I had to watch him there. Good one day stop or to take time to recharge. - Kayak54
Mar 2018 - $25.00
Arrived on a really nice afternoon, check-in was fast, efficient, and conducted by a most pleasant lady. Some of the roads paved, some not, but pretty easy to maneuver my 35' fifth wheel into our pull through cemented and level space. Small but really nice picnic table also on the concrete. Roughly a 50' patch of grass between our front door and the next pad. Our particular lot was not very shaded but others would have been except for the time of year. Bath and laundry facilities were somewhat dated but clean. 3 of 4 driers we not operating but were fixed in a couple of days. We had a wonderful breakfast at the on-site restaurant. Wi-fi seemed pretty good on weekday mornings, ok in the afternoon and was in and out, mostly out in the evenings and weekends. The row we were in and the 3 behind us seemed to be for temporary travelers. Most of the rest of the campground units seemed to be permanently parked with a number of full time residents. A number of these units were pretty run down and moldy looking. Everyone however seemed very friendly. People seemed to drive too fast and in the morning between 5 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., too loud. Lots of loud cars and trucks. I didn't care but I don't have any kids. There were several nice places to fish the river or just observe the wild life and dock your boat. - Gewehr Travels
Apr 2018 - $22.00
Small no frills campground, weekly ratte of 150.00 includes everything Pros. Good cable and wifi, sites are long, quiet park Cons. sites very close together, no activities, 80% full time residents, lots of old junky trailers. laundry room and machines outdated, couple of them not working. - DBSnowbirds
Mar 2018 - $10.00
This is not a "resort" style park. No pool, hot tub, club house, etc. but the price, at less than $300/ month, including cable, reflects that. We chose this park because we stayed for several months (over the winter) and we wanted to be able to install broadband internet, which we did, through Media Com. The park wifi is actually really good, though, so we wouldn't have needed it except to stream video without feeling like we were hogging the bandwidth. The park is all pull-throughs, well-maintained, and the family that owns it is very sweet and easy to work with for getting mail, paying for propane, etc. The gentleman that does the maintenance and the "camp host," who takes care of the laundry room and just generally knows what's what, are just about the friendliest folks around. Quiet, with friendly neighbors, mostly older folks and many who live there year-round. Conveniently located for both Mobile and Gulf Shores, with wonderful winter weather. It was fun to see the neighbor's donkeys and goats, too. We are full-timers and would stay here again in a heartbeat. - ErikaN

I'm in love with Driftwood RV Park. The rate is for a month plus your electric. Contact park for daily rate with any discount.
Sits in beautiful green meadow with huge live oak and pecan trees. Minutes from both old and new Fairhope. Also just minutes from river and bay fishing. Some of best seafood I've eaten and the people couldn't be friendlier. Definitely a must stop even for a few days. Be sure to visit Old Downtown. - Ann Blake
Mar 2015 - $24.00
We stayed here two weeks and enjoyed it a lot. The Good Sam discount didn't apply to the weekly rate, but the price was good without it. The staff was great. There are lots of long-term campers here and we were put in the "overflow section"....which turned out to be fine. It was level, and was backed up to a large lawn and great views of the bayou (birds, boats going by, etc.) The shower/toilet building is older but kept very clean and everything works. Our only complaints were with the terrible Wi-Fi. It was always weak or no signal at all, and dropped out constantly. An added bonus was the cafe that was on site. They had good prices and good food. Most of the raves were for the breakfast items and the Thursday night steak special. We will definitely be back next year. Watch out for the biting gnats, however! - stocky
Dec 2014 - $15.00
The park allows extended stays which was nice since my husband was working at the ship yard on a 2 month contract. They have a minimum 6 week stay. The RV section is close to the office and surrounded by permanent mobile homes. They have a great pool and playground, bbq grills and picnic pavilions. I felt very safe taking an evening jog around the park. They allow small pets so sparky was happy. Overall an excellent place to stay if you are visiting the coast! - Dora the Explorer
