5 RV Parks near Calvert, Alabama
Jul 2019 - $40.00
Hidden gem. Very clean, very quiet, well maintained, with a new appearance. Nice large spaces. Unlike most camps that cram sites so close you feel like you're parking in your neighbor's space. Not much in the surrounding area. Was visiting family in the area. But for anyone looking to stop during their road trip for a few days rest with peace and quiet... perfect stop off place. Anyone looking to just get away and relax without the hassle of shopping, or busy sight seeing days (just camping), this is the place. Expansion projects were in progress. More sites, large new bath house, laundry and activities center was nearing completion. The rate is a bit on the premium side considering there is nothing touristy in the nearby area. The rate becomes better with a longer stay. Nice clean landscaping, not bushy, shrubby and cluttered. Young trees not overhanging the sites (I don't like trees hanging over my motorhome), so the sites were perfect for leaving the park without sap, leaves, pine needles, bird droppings or scratches on your RV. I disconnected my tow vehicle first because the connections are near the rear of the pull through. I wasn't sure I'd have enough room to leave it attached after matching up my RV connections with the site connections. But there was plenty of parking space in front of the RV. Someone pulling a small vehicle may actually make it work without disconnecting. - Cruiser-Streamer

Great site with concrete pad. Great spacing between sites. Sites were staggered to allow privacy. Nearby boat landing allowed for access to fishing. We picked our site on arrival and were met there be friendly hosts. About 20 minutes to downtown Mobile and an hour to Gulf Shores. Grocery shopping in nearby town of Bay Minette. - Kltwestover

**They charge a $40.00 CASH security deposit when you come in. You get it back when you leave but they will keep it for even minor infractions, including leaving 2 minutes after check out time. They also do not turn the water on to the site until you arrive. We didn't have water available until the next day since we came in late.** This county campground used to be a KOA. It has a very nice laundry facility with 4 washers/dryers. Older bathhouse but clean. An in-ground swimming pool, small playground, dog walk, nice nature walk on the river, a pavilion, boat launch, pier fishing, two ponds and a lake stocked with bluegill and bass. No wifi but AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile worked well. All sites pull through with FHU, 30&50 amp, picnic table and fire pit. Each site floods easily in rain and the roads are mostly dirt with a little gravel. (Grass parking with very few trees.) Right next to I-65, so the traffic noise is LOUD at rush hour. 30 day sites and 90 day sites are available. There is staff here from 6am - 9pm. Gate closed at 9pm but there is an onsite host/security. WalMart and Publix 15 miles away in Saraland. Not a bad place to sit for a month in Feb! - LizabethC

This is a really beautiful park, located on a small lake. Our campsite was on the lake, with a view of the sunset. However, there are no hiking paths nor any bicycle paths. There is a small beach which is not terribly appealing. There was a volleyball net up and a horseshoe game set up. There is some fishing, but very few fish. The showers and washing machine area were terribly old and very unappealing. We enjoyed our campsite, but actually left early because there was so little of the activities we enjoy, like hiking. The nearby town was run down and unappealing. - Atnt Life Grand
Oct 2016 - $22.00
This is one of the most beautiful parks we have ever come across. It was mid week in Oct, but we were one of the only campers there. Very clean! There are a few pull through sites, but we chose to back in, over the lake. So pretty to wake up and have coffee in the morning looking at the lake.
Peaceful, quiet...amazing! The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is that I had little to no Verizon phone service there and thus no internet (over my HotSpot). I work from the road, so that was a problem. I would go back though, for a few days. - GranNan06
Jan 2012 - $28.00
Well kept secret for such a neat park. Most of the sites overlook a well stocked 100 acre lake. Fishing is good and there is a swimming beach. The campground is quiet with only the sounds of nature to entertain you. There is a well kept municipal golf course, picnic area, Frisbee golf and athletic fields as part of this municipal complex. I hesitate to tell the world about this park since if the word gets out, we won't be able to get a reservation. - Roodriver
Oct 2018 - $33.00
pretty nice little park, lots of trees, quiet. Spots a little close. Curiously the campground did not provide maps, had one on the wall. Friendly staff, gave me choice of 2 different sites, said pick one. - Dave from Indy
Jun 2018 - $30.00
This place has more shade than any campground I have seen. Live oaks with Spanish moss make sites attractive and shaded. This is not what anyone would call a resort but I like to use it for overnight stays on my way to another location. Many of the campers are full-timers as with most campgrounds on the Gulf Coast. Overall this is a decent place. - FromSC

Customer service is good. This is an older, appearingly run down park. Although they take big rigs, it is extremely difficult to navigate as the access roads around the park are very narrow and windey. The sites are very narrow and there are a lot of trees, also making it difficult to navigate. There were no 50 amp sites, so we got a 30 amp. We must have had 1 too many things running, which blew out something. 4 hours later, they are still trying to find a breaker to replace. We chose to stay here so we didn't have to dry camp again, but it looks like we have to do that again anyway. They gave us the option to change sites, but since it's so difficult to navigate, we didn't want to deal with having to try to back in our 40' fifth wheel. I would not stay here again. - cherylbrv
