What everyone else says. Well kept, good roomy sites, lots of shade, working utilities, good manueverability. Only downside is no Verizon data, voice ok, if shaky. We camped at Miller's Ferry Campground COE in a Motorhome.

Back again. First trip to Miller's Ferry after last year's disappointment. The hosts were extremely nice. Grass was cut and the campground looked neat. Our campsite looked good. We were on the southwest side of the campground, away from the busiest part. The garbage situation here continues. The hosts said the company who picks up garbage keeps changing the pickup day. In the meantime, garbage piles up. No real complaints, though. We like camping here because the view of the reservoir is so gorgeous. I enjoy listening to flocks of geese coming in for the evening on the river. Nice sunsets. If you have a boat, there's really good fishing here. If not, it's entertaining to watch the boats pass by. Some spots are really shady, while others are out in the sun. The campsites on the north end near the bathhouse are very busy. Restrooms and showers were clean, but low or out of TP. We prefer the south end. A little quieter with fewer folks walking back and forth. We will camp here again. We camped at Miller's Ferry Campground COE in a Travel Trailer.

Nice and quiet facility. Most sites paved and on the water with docks. Boat launch on site. Great for photography, fishing, hunting and bird watching. Campground lacking a bit of TLC with brush piles just shoved back into the woods and fire pits that need cleaning. Made it less than it could be with a bit more care. Clean power, good water pressure and close to shopping. Bring your camera for the bird photography. Request a river front site they are the best (in my humble opinion). Shopping 20 minutes to the south. Fishing and hunting right out your door. We camped at Miller's Ferry Campground COE in a Motorhome.

Another absolutely gorgeous campground. Our site even had its own little dock. We really enjoyed all the birds and taking walks around the park. This place has a nice little laundry $1/load. Wonderful place to stay. We camped at Miller's Ferry Campground COE in a Travel Trailer.

There are alligators here so watch you dogs and kids. Some sites are right on the water and low so choose a site over 18 to be up higher and safer if you have dogs and small children.

Overall Rating:

We've stayed at Miller's Ferry several times over the years. This trip was different. There seems to be some sort of breakdown between the camp hosts and the COE staff. The campsites themselves were well kept with grass cut, no paper or trash, etc. However, the bathhouses were an absolute wreck. Also, the two dumpsters at the campground were literally overflowing with garbage. It was piled around the dumpsters on the ground and smelled horrible. After the dumpers were emptied, garbage was left all over the ground. I noticed a broken gallon pickle jar and raw meat. The bathhouses themselves were constantly in need of having the trash taken out. Always in need of toilet paper. Ladies' shower was okay, but the men's showers had no shower heads. At one point, my husband overheard the COE employee tell the park hosts that she couldn't go into the bathroom because there was someone in there. I was in there, without toilet paper, and couldn't figure out why a female employee would not enter a ladies' room to gather trash and leave TP. The campground hosts were very nice. Also, met us at the gate when we came in late at 8 p.m. As I said, the sites were in good shape. The other big turn-off was the dog situation. Two campsites down, a family had a dog tied out on a lead that barked non-stop. I wasn't the only one to complain, but nothing was done. When that family packed up and left, another family showed up with a barking dog. I go camping for a little quiet time with my family. I don't think I'm alone in this. I don't think I should have to deal with excessively barking dogs or people drive around and around thumping their radios. After everyone crowded in and started their daytime campfires, we packed up and came home. Just not worth it. Although the view of the reservoir is beautiful, it is marred by campground issues. This is frustrating considering the nice road out to the campground from Camden and close proximity to stores, etc. We camped at Miller's Ferry Campground COE in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Stop by Piggly Wiggly in Camden for groceries. Dollar General, Fred's and CVS are nearby. Jackson's Chicken near downtown Camden has a great lunch buffet. Get there at 11. Very busy after. Gaines Ridge has delicious food. No fast food in Camden except Hardee's. Also, check out the shops downtown and Young's Plant Nursery.

Loved this park. We stayed in site 34 on the water and camped there for two days. This site is not one of the more popular locations as it is in full sun and overlooks the bridge. However, it was quite roomy and spacious and private enough for us. The campsite offered a picnic table and a metal lantern stand with an all purpose table attached. The best sites are in the teens on the other side of the campground. The campground hosts were very friendly and helpful...we had an issue with fire ants and they came to our rescue! This is a great fishing spot from the looks of all the boats/trailers that accompanied the campers. This site was plenty long and level...we would stay here again. Although we did not go due to rainy weather and lack of a car, we understand that there is a marina accessible by foot (approx 3 miles) that serves a mean hamburger!

We only stayed one night. We had a beautiful water front site that was concrete and perfectly level. We didn't even have to unhitch. The wooden deck was in perfect condition. The grass was well mowed. The gate hosts were helpful. The COE knows how to build camp grounds. We camped at Miller's Ferry Campground COE in a Travel Trailer.

This is an exceptionally nice Army Corp of Engineers campsite on a lake produced by a dam. Fishing appeared to be exceptionally good judging by what we saw being pulled in by fellow campers and the huge number of cormorants, pelicans and an eagle perched in a tree near our campsite. The campground is really large and wide with wide paved roads with easy turns and paved pads and drives. There are a variety of sites, pull through and back in, but all of them are huge. You can get sites right on the lake for an additional $2 charge ($1 if you have senior America pass.) The lakeside plots range from ones where you could walk straight out into the water to those raised up on ridges. We took a ridge site as we have a dog who loves to swim and we were warned about gators in these water. Presumably this is why they only allow swimming in designated areas which are closed in winter. This position also gave us an exceptionally lovely view of the sunset over the lake. Showers and laundry were modern and clean. No charge for showers, $1 for both the washer and dryer. There was only one dump site which meant waiting in line on the way out and the campground was half empty while we were here. I was told it fills right up in summer so the line must get very long. There are a couple of very nice children's playgrounds next to the showers and with campsites right around them. All were full and the playgrounds were busy with happy children and parents watching from their campsite. The campground has a lot of additional services like free life jacket loan service and horseshoes. There is a very nicely designed boat launch. This is an exceptionally lovely campground and we will be back. I'd give it a ten except for the lack of sewer hookups and the line to dump. Loved this campground. This was our first visit to a COE campground and it will not be our last. We liked it so much, we extended our stay 3 nights. We were on site 37 and it was gigantic. We were not directly on the water but facing a marshy area with a large variety of birds to entertain us. Verizon cell service was not good but with the aid of our amp and trucker antenna, we were able to use our aircard. There is laundry available in the bathhouses. The only drawback to this campground is that it is far away from anything. Camden does have a grocery store and a few fast food restaurants. So if you want more than that, you have to travel a bit to find more amenities. Lots of boaters at this park. We would return. We camped at Miller's Ferry Campground COE in a Fifth Wheel.

The campground is great. The sites are level. Some of the sites are too close together. There are not enough showers and laundry facilities when the campground is close to being full. We had the pleasure of having a cold shower during our stay. Noise carries very well in the campground. There are a lot of sites on the water, but beware, in summer they will be in full sun all day. The hosts were extremely friendly. Cell service was hit and miss at best. TV reception was fairly good. We camped at Miller's Ferry Campground COE in a Motorhome.

This park is beautiful. Sites are spacious and laid out well. Sites on water have concrete pads and many have docks and a couple have private decks. The non waterfront sites have a gravel parking pad but are still spacious and easy to get in to. The staff is very friendly. Restrooms are clean and have a laundry room too. It's a Corp of Engineers park and if you have a Golden Age Pass camping is half price. We camped at Miller's Ferry Campground COE in a Motorhome.

A very nice COE park located on the Alabama River. The park has very good paved roads and a combination of paved sites, along with gravel sites. All sites include picnic table, grill, and fire ring. Bathhouses were nice and clean. There are no camping supplies sold at the campground, but there is a marina located next to the campground that has basic food and fishing items you might need. The only problems I have are that sites 9 through 12 are located across the water from the marina and some of the lights from the marina shine directly at these sites. You have a constant glare from these lights on your site all night. Also. it is quite a distance to the nearest bath house if you are staying in sites 25 through 39. A bath house should be built closer to these sites for more convenience. Overall a very nice campground to bring your boat and go fishing, or to come camp and get away from it all. Plan on coming back again, sometime. We camped at Miller's Ferry Campground COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice COE campground. Some of the waterfront sites are spectacular. You have your choice of wooded or waterfront sites. Most of the wooded sites are gravel and the waterfront sites are paved. Two reasons for an 8 rating; no sewer, not a big deal but it would be nice to have, and tons of fire ants. They should treat the mounds and get rid of that problem. Be very careful when walking your dogs. We camped at Miller's Ferry Campground COE in a Fifth Wheel.

They are redoing all of the sites in this park and it is just fabulous. All of the riverfront sites are now big enough for the largest of RVs and are paved and level. Simply one of the best campgrounds we have ever had the pleasure of staying at. We camped at Miller's Ferry Campground COE in a Fifth Wheel.
