Oct 2018 - $33.00
pretty nice little park, lots of trees, quiet. Spots a little close. Curiously the campground did not provide maps, had one on the wall. Friendly staff, gave me choice of 2 different sites, said pick one. - Dave from Indy
Jun 2018 - $30.00
This place has more shade than any campground I have seen. Live oaks with Spanish moss make sites attractive and shaded. This is not what anyone would call a resort but I like to use it for overnight stays on my way to another location. Many of the campers are full-timers as with most campgrounds on the Gulf Coast. Overall this is a decent place. - FromSC
Mar 2017 - $30.00
Customer service is good. This is an older, appearingly run down park. Although they take big rigs, it is extremely difficult to navigate as the access roads around the park are very narrow and windey. The sites are very narrow and there are a lot of trees, also making it difficult to navigate. There were no 50 amp sites, so we got a 30 amp. We must have had 1 too many things running, which blew out something. 4 hours later, they are still trying to find a breaker to replace. We chose to stay here so we didn't have to dry camp again, but it looks like we have to do that again anyway. They gave us the option to change sites, but since it's so difficult to navigate, we didn't want to deal with having to try to back in our 40' fifth wheel. I would not stay here again. - cherylbrv

Jan 2019 - $10.00
We were traveling from Virginia to Texas. Most of our overnights were boondocking (Walmart, Home Depot), but we needed to dump and get water, and found this park that had a Passport America rate for less than $10. It was not too far to drive off the interstate (it is physically very near the interstate). The pull-thru site was a horseshoe shape, and when we first realized that, we figured that we would need to disconnect our toad, but, the site was long enough and wide enough that we were able to pull in, and connect up without needing to back up. We have a 43' motorhome with a Jeep toad - we don't have slides, so did not need to maneuver to position them. We were only there overnight, but I was able to get a couple of loads of laundry done, dump the tanks, and fill with fresh water. We did not take advantage of any facilities in the park. Note that trees on the roads coming into the park (and leaving - we went a different way) were low in places - not heavy branches, but the leaves and lightweight branches were rubbing the solar panels at 13' on our roof. In most cases we could drive on the on-coming traffic side of the road to avoid the tree branches. - pattic777
Apr 2016 - $20.00
We arrived late and could barely understand the speech of the park kiosk attendant and the instructions on how to find our site (he was out of maps) so we got on the wrong road and had an ordeal turning our 43' bus around. Went back to the kiosk and no one was there. Some helpful campers gave us directions to find the campground and then we were shocked to see how narrow the pull-through actually was. We made it by backing in and managed to get hooked up. Since it was only overnight, we did not see anything more of the campground or the surrounding area except for some questionable characters around us. Wish we had stayed in the Walmart parking lot. I would not recommend this to anyone except as a last resort. - coloradoflyfisher
Nov 2014 - $20.00
Of all the parks we stayed at on our 5 month trip through the south this is one of only two where I would probably not return.
The park was a typical county run park. a little run down and need of a little clean up but overall not bad.
Unfortunately it is in a really run down part of town. Venturing to and from after dark seemed like a really bad idea. The roads in and out were not in very good shape. - digger2280

Mar 2017 - $30.00
Beware! Although the website says, "Reservations require a non-refundable deposit of $30," do not expect a refund of any payments made beyond that $30. Their actual policy is, "No refunds are given for any reason." Typical procedure for every other campground we've dealt with is that the deposit is non-refundable, but the additional amount is; never have I heard of a policy where the entire amount is non-refundable. The best they would offer is an "indefinite credit" which is beyond their typical 60-day credit rule. I'm not sure who makes this policy, but they would be best served to be more in-line with the rest of the camping industry.
The sites are standard sites, nothing special. This park is named "Blakeley State Park" but it is not actually a state park. - purpleenaj
Feb 2017 - $30.00
Very rustic with very roomy well spaced sites. There was hardly anybody here. We have a 44' and had trouble finding a flat enough site that was long enough. Most of the sites are not flat-so if you have a long rig scout it out first. Also, most sites are tree covered so you have to be careful of scratching in a larger rig. Some of the utility placements are odd in relation to where you might park. We used all of our 30' sewer hose. We are self contained and did not need the bathrooms/showers but checked them out and they were filthy. We mentioned this to the staff and they said they are cleaned once a week. Considering how few people were there and the condition we saw it is doubtful that is true. The bathhouse is a long way from the RV area (it is closer to the tents) so take that into consideration if you need the bathhouse. ATT cell service was so-so. Verizon hotspot worked well. - RMD3819
Nov 2014 - $30.00
Contrary to the listing, it can accommodate up to 45' big rigs on some sites; the smallest site will fit a 30' rig. The RV sites have been updated recently and are all gravel. Most are level. It's a beautiful rustic setting by a river, NOT a resort. It draws a few fulltimers but park policy is to limit the number of these so that there are spaces for recreational campers readily available. Very helpful staff. Feels very secluded, but only 5 miles from major shopping areas. - nationcruiser

Jul 2008 - $25.00
Without going into great detail, allow me to merely state that were were treated rudely by the owner/management. The available amenities are in poor repair, the landscaping had been let go badly and the grass was un-mowed. We were infested by sugar ants throughout our stay. This is more of a long-term stay park with lots of mobile homes interspersed among the RVs. The park sites are not level as the park is located on a slope. The office doesn't keep an regular hours. Next time we'd rather drive an extra hour out of our way to avoid this miserable park. Why it is rated by Trailer Life I can't imagine. - oRV
Nov 2007 - $22.00
Although close to Mobile, this is not a campground. It is a full time trailer park with 8 sites for transients. The park is for sale and the owner/manager does not seem interested in renting out overnight spots. In fact, he was downright rude. No restrooms, no facilities and a very narrow road make this a poor choice for an overnight stay in Mobile. We will not return. - lmg

May 2017 - $23.00
This is a 40 year led RV Park that is softly long-term locals living there, some the full 40 years. It's not too easy to get into, and there were about 3-4 pull throughs for use by overnighters. They did have good water, 50 amp electric and free wifi, but other than that, not much else. We couldn't get but 3-4 channels on cable, but got 33 on our antenna so that was ok. I would only recommend it if you need a place to pull over for the night. We were visiting a relative who lived there, otherwise would not have gone there. The check-in people are nice and the man on the phone was very nice. - Ginny H
Aug 2016 - $23.00
Old, needs updating. Showers 1960s era, wore flip flops! Sewer 1 foot in air under neighbor's huge RV....very inconvenient and weird, didn't drain well. Nice shade, nice neighbors and check-in. If you pay cash, bring exact change, they won't reimburse you with change! High price for services provided. I have Passport America and was charged $23.00 per night. Limited cell and no TV. - ljontour
Mar 2016 - $15.00
While this is a "no frills" kind of campground, we enjoyed our month stay. While the majority of campers here are permanent, it was like it's own little community and everyone welcomed you with a wave. Marlene and Jimmy, the park managers were welcoming, helpful and just really nice folks. There are 3 washers and 3 dryers, a bit expensive at 1.75 each but they were good sized. We used the showers once (last day of stay), they were functional with good pressure and hot water, but while clean, they could definitely use some updating. Great little park for a couple of nights or a couple of weeks. - Outlaw Pilots

Very odd park. No facilities but does offer full hook ups and cable. It is halfway between Bay Minette and Stapleton. You have to go to an office in Bay Minette to pay. All utilities work well. Big oak trees offer some good shade. - MajandMrs
Jan 2014 - $25.00
We stayed for a few days and they were really nice. The pull-throughs were taken so we had to detach our towed truck. No restrooms, showers, laundry, Wi-Fi, playgrounds, fire pits, or picnic tables. We were not in a shaded spot, it is mostly wide open but there are some big trees sporadically around. - Eric and Angi

Jan 2019 - $38.00
Sites are asphalt (parking and sitting areas) and are flat and level. Site spacing is good, better than most private parks. There is a large play field, a fishing pier and a board walk out into the wetlands. There are short hiking trails, mostly folded into a maze in a patch of woods in the park. Good for walking your dog, though. There's no other specified "dog walk" area. The campground is semi-wooded, all pines, but not too thick to limit satellite reception. Water pressure was low at 40psi, but they were repairing some plumbing problems during our stay. There's a boat launch and a very nice launch specifically made for kayaks or canoes designed to make boarding/unboarding safer. There have been Argentine ant problems at this CG in the past, but they seem to have gotten them under control with a campus-wide treatment system; no problem while we were there. Sites have a stand-up grill and a picnic table. There are no fire rings and ground fires are not allowed. The biggest negative for this CG is the road noise from Hwy 98 and I-10. Depending on air density and cloud cover, the noise can be loud enough to make you have to raise your voice while talking outside. It's a good CG for the convenient location between Mobile and Spanish Fort, but should not be considered a "primitive" or "back-to-nature" campground. One curious thing about the CG was a 10 ft. high chain link fence around the property, including the gate. The CG didn't seem to be in a problem area. The gate is controlled by a security code given to you when you check in. Be sure to call ahead if you are going to be arriving late. The approach area for the gate is short; if you are arriving when the gate is closed, you'd better not be longer than about 50 feet or your tail would be stuck out in the road while you are putting in the gate code. This could use some redesign. Overall, a very nice park. Watch for alligators in the warmer months and keep your small unattended pets away from the shoreline there. - Bama Camper

Meaher State Park is a beautiful state park with wide, level, paved sites. The view of a sunset over Mobile Bay is quite nice. We would stay here again. - Burt Bennett
Dec 2018 - $35.00
Large sites. Immaculate park. Great view of Mobile Bay and city in distance. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Park is treating for a chronic ant problem, and we follow their advice and do our own measures. Second time we have been here and no issues whatsoever. Love coming here and will be back. - retiredhappyrvers

Most 30 amp, a few 50 amp. Grass back-in sites with asphalt streets. All connections at extreme rear of site, so sewer extensions are required. Somewhat pricey for what you get. We were with a group. - AFChap

Oct 2018 - $31.00
This park is a nice place to stay for overnight or longer term when visiting the Mobile area. It's close to I-10 and relatively close to I-65 which allows you to efficiently navigate the area. As others have stated, the park is mostly longer term residents but contains a central area with pull-thru sites for transient RVers. The park is, in fact, shady. However, squirrels in the oak trees may drop/throw acorns down onto the roof of your RV. While this didn't particularly bother me, our dogs found it most annoying! Our site was level, shaded, and the utilities worked well including the cable TV. Office attendant was friendly and helpful - offering advice on touring the Mobile area. We enjoyed the USS Alabama military park which also includes the USS Drum submarine and a very nice airplane exhibit. The airplane exhibit includes an A-12 OXCART (that's the CIA version of the USAF SR-71) which is particularly interesting. We also recommend visiting the town of Fairhope AL - located on the eastern side of Mobile bay, about 35 minutes from this park. In Fairhope, you will find many interesting privately owned shops - much better than going to a mall! - CampingWithPoodles
Apr 2018 - $30.00
While most of the sites are filled with 'resident' campers, it is a quiet & clean park. It offers basic services, no pool, playground etc. Hosts are very friendly & helpful if you want info about the area. We stay here any time we are in the area. We have a 38' motorcoach with tow vehicle & it all fits in most of the RV slots. Larger motorcoaches will find the park a tight fit & several sites have large trees to maneuver around either pulling in or out of the slots. Not all sites are level; we have to use wheel supports most times we stay. You can hear the local train while in the park but not loud enough to effect sleep. Wifi appears to have been upgraded & offers good service even in the evenings when many are streaming. - Peppercatt

The owner came to meet us and it was after 6pm, was an excellent host. We were treated very hospitably. The site was level and clean, Wifi was good . We didn't use the restrooms. Area was quiet . I will stay here again. Close to I 10. - wberg
