Small park, (12 sites) but easy pull through, across the street from the beach, and nice office staff. Sites are close but this campground is worth every penny. Gravel for the camper but a cement patio with table. Would recommend. We camped at Pelican Nest RV Resort and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Looks can be deceiving in a very good way. This park is small (approximately 12 sites) but big on personality. We were greeted upon arrival and escorted to our site and even helped backing into the site. The office personnel were courteous, professional and extremely accommodating. The office itself had everything your could need...from necessity items to bike/kayak rentals. The owners were very helpful as our cable TV cord was just slightly too short to hook up, so they let us borrow a connector. The park is located across from the beach which as beautiful. We took advantage of the bike rentals and explored the entire island. Bike trails made it so easy and pleasant. We camped for 2 nights in a 33' motorhome. Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Small RV site, very close to each other. Our slideout almost hung over the next site's table. Rear area of our site was prone to flooding, making tank draining a mess. Across the street from the public beach. One of the washing machines was inoperable during our stay. The traffic behind RV park can be a little loud at night. The office (ice cream/store) wasn't open during our March stay (off-season). The island is a wonderful place to visit. The owner/operators were friendly and helpful. Pickup groceries before getting to the island or prepare to pay premium prices. We camped at Pelican Nest RV Resort and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Cute little (12-space) RV park across the street from the pier/boardwalk to the beach. Owners are friendly and helpful. The property includes a small pool to relax by, and the upper deck (off the office) with high-top tables for relaxing or socializing. During peak season the office sells hand-dipped ice-cream. There are several places to eat within a mile, as well as Ship & Shore (the main place for groceries or anything else you need). We camped at Pelican Nest RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Stock-up on groceries before coming to the island. We made supply trips back to Walmart once a month, and picked up anything else we needed at Ship & Shore Supplies. Nearby restaurants include The Islander (next door), a BBQ and Pizza place about a half mile west, JT's Sunset Grill, and several others. The most highly recommended place is Skinner's Seafood (take-out only), where you get to choose your favorite fish/shellfish, sides, and seasonings and everything is made fresh to go.

Very small campground (12 sites) directly across street from beach. Full hookups. Great personnel that were very helpful. Here to slow down for a week on a 6 Month journey. Space adequate for our 28 ft Airstream. Others close by. Full sun. We camped at Pelican Nest RV Resort and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in camp for 7days. The staff were extremely friendly and most helpful. We enjoyed the feel of a close knit family campground. Good food in the restaurants close by and the food shared by the staff and neighboring campers was delicious. We would definitely recommend Pelican Nest to friends. Didn't need the restrooms since we were equipped in our MH. Thanks for the hospitality. We camped at Pelican Nest RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

They have delicious choice of ice cream. Bloody Mary's on the deck on Sat and Sun. Morning were much appreciated. The live band from the next door restaurant on Sat night was free entertainment, and they ended at 10pm.

The park was small in size but large in hospitality. The owners were very accommodating and friendly. The beach is across the street, but a little bit of a hike for older campers. We will definitely return when passing through again. We camped at Pelican Nest RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Use the Island hopper (bus) to see the island. Enjoy ice cream and the front porch at the store at Pelican Nest. The owners make a great Bloody Mary on Saturday & Sunday mornings to enjoy on the store porch!

Overall Rating:

This place has the best access to the beach around. It is literally right across the street from the public beach. Everyone was super nice and helpful, we were able to pull directly into our spot from behind so no hassle parking. Had plenty of room for the truck and were able to get in and out easily. Only real downside is space, the sites are close together, and there is no shade, but being this close to the beach outweighed the negatives. We recently stayed at another, nearby campground and preferred this site as it is closer to the beach and restaurants. We will definitely come again! This was a very friendly spot. Most of the people staying there come every year and stay for months. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. Spots are close, but not a problem and the public beach is just across the road. The showers were large but really could have used a good cleaning---not bad, just a little neglected. This was the only criticism we had. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to anyone. We camped at Pelican Nest RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The office and shop provide some shopping, ice cream, and ice. There is a gift shop on one side and a restaurant on the other side. The restaurant was OK but not great. The shop had some unique art work and a good selection of gift or keepsake items.

This is a great campground located in the middle of everything. The owners are super nice and the location is great. There is a bike path that you can go from one end of the island to the other on. Water, Electric, and sewer were fine and the private bathrooms with huge showers were very nice. They rent bikes and have air available to pump up bike tires. We will definitely return here. Don't let the pictures fool you. This "RV Park" has 12 sites crammed into less than 1 acre. Space between sites may not allow awnings. The hosts are friendly and the beach across the street is wonderful. But, in all honesty, this place should be your choice only if you have no other options. Very small mom pop park. Level and utilities including Wifi were okay. Beach is across the two lane city street (about 1,000' to water). Would stay here again. There is a restaurant next door that had live music on Friday night that was a little too loud. Depends what you like. Nice laid back small parking lot campground. This is a different kind of camping experience, but one we prefer. The small campground is quiet and clean with no bells and whistles, but everything we needed. The older couple that owns the place are native to the island and have lots of interesting stories to share about its history and the affects of hurricanes, one being a positive as the beach is growing tremendously. The two bathroom/shower combinations were very clean. The laundry area is convenient. Level concrete pads. We were at the first site near the road which was easy to get into and convenient. Wi-Fi was good. Cable TV. Full hookups. All this was good. However, the big attraction is the beauty of the island and beach just across a street with little traffic. We loved the beach, almost like having a private island. Our 3 small dogs had a blast running and romping with only a few people at a distance. We stopped in for a night, but hung out longer. I can't figure the previous bad review. It is not a resort area, rather a place to relax away from the hustle bustle. We would definitely return. We camped at Pelican Nest RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.
