This place is a dump! We stayed here to be close to my best friend, but I wouldn’t stay here if they paid me! It’s old, and very uncared for and it shows. The bathrooms are old, old, old. Chipping paint, messy, small stalls, not cared for. The “showers” are the worst I’ve ever seen. The faucets and shower heads look like they were installed in the 1950s, and barely a trickle of water comes out if you want it hot. The other showers in the other building have no hot water at all. Think they told us this when we registered??? Hell no! Like I sold folks THIS PLACE IS A DUMP! I’m ashamed to be staying here. The “staff” is just a few kids standing around shooting the bull with each other. Uninterested, unmotivated and lazy. Please do not attempt to buy a bag of ice. It had probably been in there for years, and was dirty... yes. Dirty ice. Unacceptable disgusting place. Boring, unkempt, unclean and just a bad vibe all the way around. They should all be ashamed.. THIS PLACE IS A DUMP and people need to know! Do not stay here! We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here 2 nights to visit friends in the area. We have stayed here once before when also visiting friends . We called ahead and when we arrived they gave us a choice of different locations both open pt and bi under trees. We chose under trees which was a mistake for this time of the year because it sounded like we were in a hail storm with the acorns falling. The site was a nice fairly levels graveled spot with good FHUs. There were many stations on broadcast tv but no wifi. The roads were asphalt in good condition and easy to navigate if you followed the maps as some tended to figure 8 so much turning. When we left the park about 4:30 Friday PM to meet our friends there were several sites open but they were full when we returned about 10:30 PM. We would stay here again. We were in a 40' mh with a toad. There are many sites in this park , over 200. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Motorhome.

This park seems pretty run down in my opinion. There seemed like a lot of full time campers there, with built porches and junk all over their sites. The sites are not paved and aren't level. The sites are all packed in on top of each other. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Travel Trailer.

233 FHU sites with 20 pull-thrus in a city park with lots of available activities. Mostly wooded campground with closely packed shaded sites. The park has a separate water park, golf course, tennis courts, ball fields and a year around ice rink. There is a paved bike path that goes into downtown Decatur. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Motorhome.

We just stayed overnight. This is a great place if you have kids especially. Lots of activities with a nearby amphitheater, tennis courts, etc. Really a good value to the price. Campground host was wonderful, lead us to our site and got us settled in. Lots of trees and shady. Right on a lake. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Travel Trailer.

We did a one night stay. The park was pretty much full with what looks like long stay residents. I would avoid this park in the summer months unless I was going to the water park, it has a large recreation complex that would be great for families. As others has said the roads are narrow and with low hanging branches and cars close to the road. Our site was more than ample for a quick over night, it was fairly level, quite and the all the hooks up worked. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed here for 2 weeks. They let us pick our site from all the available sites. Open sites versus shaded sites. The computer was down when I arrived, but they didn't require my payment until I left 2 weeks later. Sites are difficult to back into because of many of the trees. Campground roads were easy to navigate. Once in, the site was great. Lots of room, spacious, no problems. The site was completely covered. Some of trees drop these small succulent items which can attract ants, even on top of your RV. Staff was nice. Have a nice shop for parts. Good location for local attractions. The garbage that I used was a small can next to the common area. We never had a problem with it being full. I'm guessing that in a campground with over 200 sites, there was a larger garbage dump. We just never found it. My only issue with the campground was that the sewer connection was high off the ground (even higher than the tank connection on my RV), so I couldn't leave my grey tank valve open & let it run straight into the sewer. I had to wait & watch my grey tank and then go dump it. I would definitely stay here again and refer others here also. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Travel Trailer.

RV park set up primarily for use of the recreation & water park next to it. Our back-in site was fine, gravel, good FHUs and space next to rv for car. Neat, clean well maintained except for many low hanging branches on loop road and sites. We had to weave down the road to avoid branches scraping but otherwise a good park for us. We don't use restroom facilities as we have our own so N/A. Many permanent residents or seasonals that leave rv parked on site. ( Please don't use the term full-timers in place of permanent residents) We are full -timers because we left our house for an rv but we travel the USA & we don't park permanently. We would return. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Motorhome.

This is a great park with many amenities available or close by. Playgrounds for the grandkids, walking trails, rec center right by D section, tennis courts, soccer field, ice skating rink, golf course and water park within walking distance. Very friendly staff ready to help you in any way they can. We stayed in D section thru the summer. Activities going on within walking distance include hot air balloon festival, live music food vendors and activities for kids. So much fun! Will be back this fall. Heard they have a Fall Festival going on then. Will definitely be back time and again! We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Fifth Wheel.

As other reviewers have said, this is a crowded park with limited availability for vacationers. This was our first time at the campground, and we went for the water park, so the convenience to that was excellent (5-minute walk, bike racks also available at the water park). We arrived on Sunday afternoon after the office was closed. The host who checked us in indicated that had we called ahead, the office staff *might* have assigned us a site, though reservations aren't officially taken. (I did try to call earlier in the day, but no one answered.) Probably because it was Sunday, driving through the loops was challenging because there were a LOT of vehicles at sites throughout the loops (weekend visitors, I'm assuming--didn't seem so crowded on Monday). We took the only back-in spot with shade, but it was tight--we didn't have room to let our awning out because of a tree. We were so close to our neighbors that it felt like we were interrupting their dinner as we set up (there literally can't be more than 6 feet between sites). The hookups worked fine for us. If you like more space, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a place to park while you enjoy the area, it's an affordable option. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Travel Trailer.

We were so disappointed! They have added several new sites with full hook-ups but the campground continues to deteriorate. Many of the full time campers clutter their sites and neglect their campers. No one monitors the use of the many, many golf carts - some of which are driven by children. "Quiet time" is totally disregarded. Unfortunately, no one seems to police the facility and the rules are a farce! It's become a haven for loud, disrespectful people. SAD because the area offers a great bike trail. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Motorhome.

We have a 44' so were given one of the few pull throughs and we fit easily. Large rig spots are out in the open-good for satellite, not for shade. Plenty of overflow parking although it might be a hike depending on where your campsite is. About half of the folks here are permanent and another contingent simply stores their unit on a site. The place was not trashy although many sites are crammed with stuff. One of the permanent folks said they kick out undesirables quickly which appeared to be the case. Many work at the GE plant down the road. ATT had a group there, with their bucket trucks, installing fiber in nearby towns on a 1-2 year project. The place is part of a larger rec area with golf, tennis , open fields etc. Not much to do in the actual RV park. Poor water pressure. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Motorhome.

We had great meals at the Cajun Steamer in Huntsville. The Cochon and Grits and the Melvin's Blackened Chicken were awesome! We also really enjoyed the tour of the Space and Rocket Center, Harrison Brothers Hardware store, birthplace of Tallulah Bankhead and driving around the beautiful old homes from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. We were told there are a great number of pre-civil war homes that were not destroyed in the war, but we did not have time to search them out.
