This is our favorite place to camp. It's close to great dining and shopping. Located on the river with excellent views and awesome fishing. We usually come here planning on staying a few days and end up staying a few weeks. This trip started out as a 3 day weekend and we've been here for 2 weeks and plan to stay another. Very clean showers. WiFi is a little slow at times. Great staff! We camped at River Country Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We used this park as a 1-night layover, and for that purpose it was okay. We were placed in an area of the park, that was just a dirt lot with hook-ups. But, it was quiet and in a very nice locations along the river. We camped at River Country Campground in a Motorhome.

Very unfriendly staff, they watch you like you are trying to steal something, you MUST have a arm band to enter the pool and about every 2 hrs are told to hold up your wrist to prove you have it on. It's a campground not a 5 star resort people need to lighten up. Although no alcohol is posted we watched the "security guard" ride around on his bicycle drunk as a skunk and then crashed onto the pavement. Too many permanent residence that love to make you feel unwelcome. Sorry but facts are facts. We camped at River Country Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice park. Quiet except when the fishing boat decided to do circles in the river at night. Our site was head in and the car parked along side. Tight spots but overlooking the water was wonderful. Will come again. We camped at River Country Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Went to Lola's on the River for dinner. Grilled shrimp were great as was the brussel sprouts with bacon. Seating inside, outside or the bar area. The Walmart was clean, people friendly and while it was busy, we got in and out quickly.

Well maintained and staffed CG along the Coosa River and Black Creek lake. Level sites with multiple pools, kid area, lit path, marina, docks, piers, chapel, gated entry, meeting rooms and next to shopping, supplies, etc. Wifi, cable, electric and water were good. We would stay here again. We camped at River Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Fish in the lake/river, get great donuts at Cothrans Bakery, bbq at Pruetts...historic Gadsden was interesting and Noccalula Falls looked interesting but not pet friendly so we couldn't tour. We get why, but couldn't leave pup in the truck.

Agree sites crowded. Pools closed when we visited, but they look great. A little noisy with boats and traffic, but we ran our fan at night and slept well. A request for water site or any specific site can not be made with a reservation. Wonder why they do not do that. I would be more likely to return if I could be assured of a water site. We camped at River Country Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Be sure to visit Noccalula Falls. We hiked the gorge trail and stood under the Falls. Very fun! Rode the train around the park to get a good overview of the many attractions. This is a wonderful city park that is meticulously cared for. Seniors get in for $4.

The only reason I did not give it a 10 is because of the ants. There are ants all over the place. The roads are easy to navigate and it is very pet friendly. We camped at River Country Campground in a Motorhome.

There are a lot of restaurants and stores within walking distance. Really a very great location and a very nice park. You're in the middle of town but you really don't know what.

Of all the parks we have stayed in with the word "resort" in their name, this is one of the rare ones that truly deserve to call themselves a resort. This park is right on the Coosa River and has fishing piers, bank fishing, boat docks, and covered boat slips. There are two swimming pools, one of which is an infinity pool overlooking the river. And a splash pad for the kids. And a whole lot more. Much of the park is nestled in tall pines common to the area but they do have an "open" section for those of us that are too big to get in under the branches or need a clear shot to the satellites with our roof mounted dishes. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. In addition to cheerfully helping accommodate my request for an open site, I got an escort to it and he stuck with me and helped get me centered up on the pad so that all my utilities would connect without having to use extensions. With everything else being so nice it was a little disappointing that the RV pads were bare ground and tightly packed. The sites in the trees were a little grassier but still very close together. Power was solid, ran 2 A/C's, elec fridge, elec water heater and a bunch of ancillary equipment with no voltage drop. Water pressure was good and sewer hookup was a breeze. WiFi is advertised as "not always available" but we had a solid hookup for our two days. Verizon was good. If the RV pads had been a little more widely spaced I would have rated River Country as a 10. We camped at River Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

By far my favorite campground! We always get a site on the water and spend every day bass fishing. Pools are clean and since there is 3 of them, plenty of room to swim. Our last visit we planned to stay 2 days and ended up staying 12. The owner is very involved and tries hard to make everyone's stay here perfect. Recently she made some changes to the "bay side" sites to allow more room between the campers. This allowed better parking for the tow vehicles also. We camped at River Country Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very friendly and safe park on the Coosa River. Good security with a gate and security cameras. We were escorted to our site, but it would have been nice if he would have got off his phone to welcome us. Nice walking trail with wooden swings by the river. Nice garden area with a walking path, but kids were using it to race golf carts. Hopefully, manager takes care of this. Nice park for an overnight stay. Second time we've stayed here. Typical angled rows for most sites. Ours was slightly unlevel. On a lake and very scenic. Appreciate being guided to our site and immediate service when I thought my site Cable TV hookup was messed up (problem on my end). Great Clubhouse for events. They'll pick up your trash as the dumpster is just outside the park entrance. Very friendly staff. We camped at River Country Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Downtown is decent and worth strolling, Free Back Forty craft brewery tour on Saturdays with "Taproom" restaurant. Nocculalla Falls Park is very nice, albeit one way Gorge Trail is moderately strenuous. All other paths are paved. There is a good Bakery across the lake.

This park has lots of different sites - sunny, shady, along the Coosa River, not on the water, pull-through, back-in. All sites seemed level. A guy in a vehicle something like a golf cart leads you to your site. We were in site 171 along the river with a gravel pad, no grass and it was dry and dusty. We had to park our tow vehicle across the road from the campsite because it was not long enough. Along the river is a nice walking trail with wooden swings that seat 2 people, flowers and shrubs. There is a nice park with trees, shrubs & a chapel which is like walking through a forest. If you are traveling north on 411/Rainbow Dr. turn right after Waffle House & before McDonalds on River Rd. - there is a dedicated right turn lane here. Park is close to a shopping mall and restaurants. The only thing we did not like is that an army of tiny ants climbed up our sewer hose, into the water/sewer compartment and RV living room. We had to spray or smush ants off the living room wall, kitchen cabinets & sink and the dog food. Next time we go we will spray all parts of the RV that touch the ground after we hook up. The 2 couples who camped with us also got ants in their rigs. There are no fire rings but you may bring your own off-the-ground fire pits. There are 2 lodges available for groups. Cable TV had about 60 channels. The swimming pools are very nice. We camped at River Country Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Gadsden has a "First Friday" party downtown on Broad St. between 2nd & 5th streets on the first Friday of the month with several bands and many antique cars and trucks. The downtown area has a lot of shops and restaurants. Back 40 Beer Co. is a microbrewery and is downtown on 6th St. The Mary Hardin Center for the Cultural Arts has a large model train exhibit on the second floor.

Gadsden, Al is the start of the 147 Yard Sale. This campground makes a nice home base. Top O' the River restaurant is popular with locals for their catfish. We liked it too.
