This was our third time to camp overnight at Gadsden. Very nice campground with lots of amenities. Very nice pool, gated park with access by card at gate. Park is located by river and lake. We were in a pull thru site that seems to be reserved for overnighters. It took three phone calls to get someone to take our reservation, then when we arrived it could not be found. Fortunately they still had a spot open for us. - Texas E-S

A beautiful park. We were there during the week, so the place was not crowded - and they gave us a choice of sites. The staff was terrific, from a warm southern welcome at the front desk to the escort driver, everybody was very nice. Beautifully landscaped, lots of walking trails, including a path around the lake. Great lake view with a terrific breeze. The town is nice, with convenient gas, food and grocery. The only downside - if it is one - is the large gaggle of geese that comes visiting your site in the evening. And geese being geese, they don't clean up after themselves. The campground does try to manage the geese by following them around with an ATV - that must be a great job for a work camper! - dbfrv3
Jul 2019 - $40.00
Nice spot on the river for an overnight stay or a destination place for families. Nice pool and boating and fishing on the river. Very quiet. A few miles from I-59 on the I-759 spur but easy access. Hard packed gravel sites and pads. Good satellite and verizon service. - literod

The sites were clean and well kept. - Charles McClain
Jul 2019 - $19.00
Upon check-in the park host was friendly and informative. Our lot #27 was nice and shaded, but not angled like the graphic shows when selecting a site. The site next to us #26, angles into it or #27 angles into #26. Some sewer connections on other lots were in odd locations. Sites are close together. We totally loved the ability to go out and hit all the trails right from our door. We used the pool a couple times. Thought it was a bit small for the number of sites. The laundry and restroom facilities appeared clean. - DJPellegrino
Jun 2019 - $20.00
Wanted to give this park a 10 but sites are way too close together. There were a lot of activities going on while we were there so the park was full for the weekend. Our site was a buddy site, with the back of the trailer next door just inches from our awnings. We basically had no sitting area outside our door. The picnic table and fire ring were at the back of the site. All the sites in this row had the same setup, so there was no privacy while sitting out by your fire. There is plenty to do here if you have kids and our grandson enjoyed the pool, mini golf, train, petting zoo and a hike down into the canyon. The laundry had two washers and two dryers, although one dryer was broken during our stay. Wifi did not work for us at all. AT&T was sporadic, but our Verizon jetpack worked great. Restrooms were very clean and looked to have been recently remodeled. We enjoyed our stay but not sure we'll come back unless we can get one of two or three sites that weren't quite as close to the neighbors. - LZee11
Oct 2019 - $34.00
The truck pulling my fifth wheeler broke down across the street from the Cove RV Resort. After calling them, the tow truck took my truck and 5th wheeler across the street. People at The Cove took my 5th wheeler to a lot, and the tow truck took my vehicle to the shop. We registered at the store, which is located away from the campground. After registering, a golf cart took my wife and I, and our two dogs in a golf cart tow where our RV was parked. The RV lot is on a very scenic lake that you can fish in, a lot of walking areas for your pets and just a nice clean park. Your trash is picked up from your lot. The swimming pool was clean and was set up nicely. A lot of restaurants and gas stations are nearby. Walmart is less than 1/2 mile away. I originally stayed there because of my vehicle breakdown, but ended staying there a week. - HMathis58
Sep 2019 - $38.00
We chose this campground because of the previous reviews, but were terribly disappointed when we arrived. 1. Access is not the best. Directions said to get off freeway, take a turn, and then follow the signs. There were no signs til we got to the campground at the end of the road. 2. When we arrived, there was a gate, and a old mailbox labeled "Check In" that is impossible to reach from a Class A coach. My wife got out and opened the box. Inside were two envelopes - one with a name on it, another with just a number. Both were sealed. No attendant, no instructions, nothing but a gate. I dug out our reservation and found that there was a code for the gate and our site number (not labeled as that, but it was the only number in the reservation area). It had a "access code" - no explanation. My wife got out again to enter it in the gate keypad (also impossible to reach from a Class A coach). The gate opened! We entered into the campground and rode around til we found campsite 21. No map or directional signs. Only markings on each campsite post. 3. Sites and roads are loose gravel. It's pretty much just a parking lot. Sites are reasonably level. Utilities ( power, water, and sewer) are at the far back of the site. You'll need long power cord, hose, and sewer hose to reach. Oh yeah, The picnic table in our site was blocking the entry to the site. 4. There is no evidence of any manager, workers, host, or anyone else in the campground. All in all, I expect some kind of management on site, and I expect to at least have a map or directions to my site. All I got on my confirmation was a somewhat confusing page detailing how much they charged my credit card, and a full page of tiny print rules. Seem they are much more concerned that you understand all the things you can't do than they are about service to their guest. Obviously, we won't stay here again, and would recommend that others pass it by. - TexasH
May 2019 - $38.00
Spacious clean sites. Very friendly staff. Gravel level sites plenty long enough for our 38" trailer and truck. We stayed here for the Memorial Day weekend and look forward to coming back. - Cdnr
Mar 2019 - $19.00
Parking spots are gravel which is OK, but were not raked or leveled. Many year-round residents in park. Easy off and on from Interstate for overnight stop. Power would not connect. AirStream would continuously reset and cycle. - AstroVan
Sep 2018 - $25.00
Very nice park with easy access off of I-59 South Exit 181 or I-59 North Exit 174. Owner was very hands on to make sure we sited well and that all water, electrical and sewer was accessible. - Guidry's
Sep 2017 - $30.00
Nice fishing pond. Quiet. Some fulltimers. Wifi not great. No cable. - phowland08
Jun 2019 - $27.00
This is by far the best campground I have ever stayed at. Check in was very simple, plenty of parking for the check in process. They have both pull through and back in site. Plenty of space on each site. Very helpful staff who guide you to the site and offer to help get set up. The shower house was always super clean. Nice laundry facility on site. The office includes a store which sells drinks, snacks, ice and all the necessities in case you forget to bring something. The tubing is wonderful. So peaceful and relaxing. Will definitely visit again. - D_camping1
Oct 2014 - $32.00
This campround has all grass sites and is very small, maybe 50 sites, but the park has a lot to offer, even for the big rigs like my 40 ft DP. They have limited 50 amps and no sewer only water. There are several site right on the water with fishing piers. They have 1 restroom with showers. They have a very nice large pool. I found it very peaceful, we stayed in late October. - Tom222
May 2014 - $30.00
Stayed here for three nights after Memorial Day. Most of the campers are weekenders so if you come during the week, it's not too busy. Weekends are busy and locals have reserved most of the waterfront and better sites. Difficult for a big rig to get in and park due to trees and tight turns. Many rules regarding visitors and use of facilities. On the plus side, the sites are good sized, have shade, and there is access to a pool and piers on the lake. Very poor antenna TV reception. All sites are gravel or grass so water puddles if it rains. We used our AT&T phone hotspot for internet and it worked fine. - threehendersons
Jun 2013 - $15.00
Very scenic. Planned on an overnight, but stayed for three days. Pool was about 25x70. Shade was abundant. Bathrooms/showers are dated but clean. Will stay again. Price was the Passport America price. Many folks stay here on weekends and leave their rigs during the week. - hmthomas1
Mar 2016 - $15.00
This park has the potential to be a great park. Although the camping amenities leave something to be desired, we had a great time enjoying the rocks. We dry camped in the park. Answering machine and email only. Camping is first come first serve. The road signs are out of date with the additions to the park and the map is tiny but we managed to figure it out. Our site was not terribly level - we used all of our leveling blocks and we were still not quite level. They have a cute playground that is supposed to be usable in a few more weeks & many more improvements to come. The fresh water spigot is located on the way out, but they may be making the roads 2 way so that you can fill up your water on the way in. The campground rules say owners must clean up their pets waste, but after several trailers full of horses came through there was horse waste everywhere.
As of right now they have a lot of improvements to make (and much is in progress). In order of priority, these were the issues I saw.
1. The biggest issue: no sanitary place to wash your dishes. It would be fantastic if they added a big outdoor sink that gives you room to wash those pots and pans. One of the staff members actually told some people to wash their dishes at the dump station!
2. Nowhere to place your toiletries while using the sink and the sink was dirty. No way of cleaning before or after yourself it since there was no soap or paper towels.
3. No soap. This is a necessary item to keep people healthy.
4. Not enough sinks - only one in the ladies'. Most of time I just need to brush, wash face, put contacts in/out.
5. Overflowing trash - the main trash can and bathroom cans were not emptied until late Sunday morning when they were all overflowing.
6. Shower water scalding hot - sink and showers are pushbutton and the temperatures are not adjustable.
7. Firewood - expensive. The bundles are very small - it takes at least 2 bundles for one fire and they were $6 each.
Bring your own local firewood. Bring handsoap and something to wash your dishes in. - SCClimberGirl
May 2016 - $25.00
We stayed here for four weeks as part of a UMC NOMADS volunteer mission project and would love to stay longer. Last year part of our project included updating the pavilion and bathrooms closest to the RV sites so they are now like new. There are 10 full hookup sites, three of which have 50 amp. All sites are level and the utilities worked well, except on the hottest days when everyone was running air conditioners the voltage on the end sites dropped below 105 volts. Some of the sites are shaded and some are in the sun. The camp has several hiking trails including a paved trail beside the lake that is about a mile long. The camp staff are very friendly and helpful. Be aware that on weekends the pavilion next to the RV sites is rented out for gatherings. On two weekends of our stay there were weddings and on the other weekends there were church picnics. Not a problem for us. This is a beautiful camp in the spring and fall. Winter is usually mild, but summers are hot and buggy. Also, since this is primarily a church camp, during the summer the camp is filled with, well, campers. Also, be aware that cell phone service is very weak here, but the WIFI was great at the sites. The camp has installed a booster for Verizon Wireless at the camp office. We used a cell booster in our rig and it worked well. We will stay here again. - Nomads_2
Jun 2009 - $15.00
In a beautiful valley, owned by the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church. Pros - Quiet. Nice paved and non-paved walking trails. Internet available in registration lobby about 1/4 mile away. Convenient if attending an activity at the camp. Nice playground. Cons - Distant to town, bring supplies. Bathrooms and showers connected with a large picnic pavilion used by summer youth campers, could create conflicts during day. Bathrooms in need of a major modernization effort. Tiny biting insects were very bad during the evening and morning hours. Apparently the entire camp is undergoing major financial strain and is in need of donations (according to website). We would not camp here again in June due to the insect problem, but might return in cooler months. - The Happy Traveler
Apr 2011 - $12.00
We did NOT stay here. However, we needed someplace to dump our tanks and this was recommended. The park is actually very reasonable for overnighters or short timers. It is next to a RR track, but not sure how busy the line is. Sites appear reasonable and it is an honor system for pay:$15 for pull through, $12 for back in. There were sites also available for pop-top campers on a grassy site. Dump fee was $10. If traveling through the area or in the area for a bit on business, this may well be better than a WalMart or other parking lot. Folks I talked with in the park were friendly and said it was a great spot to stay. Easy drive to WalMart and other stores. - Too-wow
Mar 2002 - $12.00
This is a parking lot. It has electricity, water, sewer & cable. It is OK, but dont expect more. It has no office (someone comes by once a day to collect the rent), no security, no restrooms or showers. We had no problem with this and would stay there again. Roads are gravel, sites are gravel, level and will accommodate big rigs. - Travelin Rose
