We stayed here for an overnight while traveling. The campground is beautiful!!!! As mentioned in other reviews, the sites we were in and near are small. Our site was great as we were on the water. I was surprised they put us on the water seeing as we were just staying for one night. They seem to have a great activities program for the kids, with a weekly schedule of daily activities. We are now considering returning for a full week in the future. - BubbaDaddy2

The park is huge and well maintained. Our site was on the lake and our granddaughter loved having the Canada Geese come by frequently with their new families. One criticism is the roots that are allowed to grow above ground, and can be a tripping hazard. The bathrooms are clean, spacious and air conditioned. We were a little more than a block away, and no way to get there except around the canal, need to expand facilities. We enjoyed our stay and would visit again. - Wayne S

My husband stayed here several years ago on an overnight stay and has been raving about the campground ever since. We needed a time to rest, and he thought this campground would suit. He was right. We stayed in the "premium" section with a lovely site right on the lake. We had a fairly secluded fire pit and spent a lot of our time enjoying the lake views and watching our dogs swim. We also could kayak right from our campsite. Our site was nice and level with a concrete pad, full hook ups and a well kept restroom. While we enjoyed resting, there are many other activities to do here including fishing and boating. Some of the sites had a dock right at the campsite to keep your boat secure overnight. In the premium sites, you must reserve a full week in the summer season, but we did not mind doing that as it was such a nice place, we could have stayed forever! - Big Dogs

A whole lot to do for kids. We were just doing an overnite, but will be back to see the caverns. Really nice park. Sites were well-gravelled. However, we were at limits on levelling jacks and had a rear wheel off the ground. A bit of jockying around got us to the point of all wheels grounded. Probably need a couple 20-ton loads of gravel on the pull-thru's and an old-hand on the front-loader. Maybe we should trade down for a non-slide (preferred) Class-C/A - no worries then. :-) - jtids

If you have children, this place is perfect. If you want a nice quiet time, it isnt for you. By 9:30 am, 5 school buses were here for a field trip. Small clean campground. Showed up at 5:20pm, the open sign was on, but no one was there. Our site, #15, had only 20amp service, which meant we could not run the air conditioning in the Alabama heat. No other site could accommodate the length of our motorhome. If you have laundry to do, there is only one washer and one dryer. Make sure you have change. The change machine does not work. Bring earplugs and have a fan if you sleep past 8am, because 150 kids is loud. - StephanieBekker

This is a small campground, but very nice. A little old. There are things for kids to do. There is a very nice pavilion for your use and a little stream where the kids love to play in the water. They also have a cave and splash park. Games and rides a little gift shop and snack shop. - Goodlooking70

I was in the tent camping area. There were 3 employees working at the Marina. When I got to my campsite the trash cans on all sites were full and trash scattered by raccoons. I stayed 3 nights and not once did anyone come empty the trash cans. No toilet paper in bathrooms. Found that out the hard way. There is so much work to do there. If there are 3 employees only 1 should be at the Marina, especially since all they sell is ice. The others need to be cleaning up the campsites and bathrooms. Great place on the lake. Very beautiful. But it is being so neglected. - Badonkadonk

I read all the bad reviews. Thought it couldn't be that bad. It is. This campground seems to be a neglected step child among the mostly decent military campgrounds that I have been to. Our pad and the other TT accompying us had to be elevated 5 inches just to be close to level. Our two pads were dirt only. The picnic tables were on ground so unlevel a coffee cup slid off. Our pad required a 100' back-in, downhill, on dirt and pine straw, with a 90 degree turn at the bottom. Next to it is was an array of three TTs sitting at all different angles in a hillside with so much stuff scattered about it looked like a yard sale. If you come here avoid sites 41, 42, 51 and possibly others. Better yet go across the lake to the State Park. We wanted to do that but waited too late for Memorial weekend reservations. Now we know why this place was available. - Tidy Boy
Sep 2014 - $20.00
The location of this park on Lake Martin is great, but park amenities are in extreme disrepair. Our site was water/electric only right on the lake with its own dock and good tree coverage. But the site was so unlevel that even with leveling jacks it took over an hour to level it. The entire campground is ant infested so bring at least 2-3 cans of ant killer because they will get in and on your RV. The bathrooms are full of spiderwebs, ants, and black mold. Only one of the two showers in the men's and women's bathrooms worked and the sink in the women's bathroom actually fell out of the wall. When I tried to use the dumping station, it was full of ants and over flowing with sewage. For the kids there is a small beach and a new playground. Boats are also available for rent. - Cap'n G
