Nice large concrete sites FHU. Back-in sites are the nicest. Mostly adults but there is a pool and small play area. Pet friendly. It is a few miles to the beach, but we are fine with that. It is far enough off the highway to not have noise. We will return. We camped at Sugar Sands RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We enjoyed this park so much that we hope to winter here in the future. The sites are all back in sites but nice and wide and have nice landscaping between sites to give the feeling of privacy. Nice level concrete pads and patios. The pool and clubhouse are just beautiful and the entire park is immaculate. Security gate required to enter/exit. Wish they had a dog park. And we LOVED the entire area of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Can't wait to return. We camped at Sugar Sands RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to go for a bike ride on the extensive bike paths at Gulf Shores State Park. They cover over 15 miles of paved and boardwalk paths. Pick up a map at one of the park headquarters. And it's FREE!

Date of Stay: March, 2019 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

A small, nicely landscaped and laid out resort with full concrete pad and patio. Wide, paved access roads make back-in easy for big rigs. There's plenty of length for the rig and truck disconnected. Site widths are very generous at 38 ft. Utilities are conveniently placed. Water pressure fluctuated but trended around 35psi. The clubhouse/pool area is a great venue for holding events. While the pool was heated, given the cooler winter climate, a hot tub would have been a welcome addition. Excellent cable TV service and 40 strong OTA channels available. WiFi was OK for light duty usage. It bogged down regularly and disconnected often. AT&T cell service was fair to poor and intermittently dropped service. Verizon was reportedly much better. The park ownership changed just after we arrived and construction of four new transient sites were started. They also set up a tiny home trailer on one lot as a rental unit. Otherwise, this is truly an RV'ers park with no other permanent units. The staff was very friendly and helpful and park residents actively led most of the activities during the month of our stay. We would come back again. We camped at Sugar Sands RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Access to Gulf State Park and the beach was convenient, especially if you take the Foley Beach Express toll bridge just outside the gate. Gulf State Park's 26 mile network of trails was great for biking/hiking. March spring break in Gulf Shores is popular so you can expect a lively, crowded time.

This is possibly the nicest park that we've ever stayed in. Level concrete pads. Beautifully maintained grounds. Refreshing pool. Large fire pit fun gathering place with benches surrounding and lots of free wood to burn. Friendly hosts with helpful suggestions. Wolf Bay Lodge is a good place to eat near The Park. Wahlburgers is in The Park. Too many fine seafood restaurants to count. We camped at Sugar Sands RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Sugar Sands is a relatively new park (2014) but is immaculately maintained. It utilizes at least 4 camp hosts on site as well as two managers. Everything is spotless. It is just a short ride to the beaches and restaurants in both Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. This will definitely be a place we return. We camped at Sugar Sands RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for 3 weeks in June and really like the park. The staff members were very helpful and nice. The bathroom, showers, laundry room, and club house were all very clean. All the of the spots are nice and level and the landscape is extremely nice. The pool is a zero entry and was great for my family. The park is right by the toll bridge and is extremely close to everything. 5-10 from the beaches, 5 minutes from grocery stores, minutes away from shops and restaurants, 10 minutes from OWA park. The campground, in my opinion is an awesome location because it is close to everything, but yet it is down a road that is away from the heavy traffic! The park itself was a lot nicer than any of the parks around. I would recommend anyone stay here. We camped at Sugar Sands RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

The park is very nice and clean everyone was friendly. We had an awesome spot in the back that felt very private. We enjoyed our stay. The downside to this park was only one bathhouse so there was a wait. I believe they are in the process of adding another which will be great. They have a nice pool and indoor rec area. No hot tub. The biggest complaint we have is when you leave the campground to go to the beach you have to cross the toll bridge and the traffic gets backed up there also there is no left turn or a turn to enter the street coming back either so you have to travel a bit out of the way to get back to the campground. This campground is lovely but add extra time for the toll you will be going through it every time you leave and return. The cell service was hit and miss they do have WiFi which helped but could be better We camped at Sugar Sands RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This is our third and probably last stay in the last three years. Sites are nice and wide, restrooms and showers are very clean, so-so WiFi, nice but small pool. The staff, on the other hand, borders on being rude. In February, one month after we made our reservation, I called to reserve an additional site for 6 nights for my daughter's family. I made a point of requesting the sites be as close as they could. I called in April to confirm both reservations as well as my request. When we checked in they acted like they had no idea that the reservations were connected and put her in a site at the opposite side of the park. The women I spoke with said "well it'll be good exercise"! The office doesn't really seem to care and mostly seem like it's an inconvenience to assist. Nice park but I won't stay here again. Overall Rating:

One of the nicest RV parks that we have visited. The park is a short 10 minutes away from the Gulf Shores beach in a quiet area surrounded by mature forest. The park has every possible amenity. They have extremely nice and clean bathrooms, showers and laundry room in one of their 3 buildings. The other buildings include a public gathering room with board games, puzzles, library, public use computer and printer and kitchen. The park has a large grass area that includes a volleyball area, shuffle board, large fire pit with seating area and kids playground. The sites are long and wide with plenty of distance and landscaping between spaces. The sites are all concrete and have a picnic table at each. The wifi at the park was strong and worked great. We will definitely stay at this park when we return to Gulf Shores. We camped at Sugar Sands RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Park is 4 years old. Drop down gate entrance into park. Well designed with wide asphalt streets, storm drains, good turning radius and very level concrete pads. Palm trees and shrub landscaping in between each RV site. Excellent club house that has a very attractive, large community space with high ceilings, kitchen and large screen televisions. Designed with several garage doors (glass lenses) to enhance summer functions. Free standing laundry and shower facility that was just as clean as home! Newly installed WiFi that suffered from a lack of reliability. Seem to be a strong signal, but dropped connection often - probably will be resolved. Small commercial airport nearby. Could hear the planes, but was not disturbed by their activity. Very close and very accessible to "Foley Beach Expressway". Convenient to Hwy 59 shopping and the Gulf Shores beaches, yet away from the crowds and traffic. It appeared that there were one to two maintenance staff and two office staff during most of the day. All of them very friendly and courteous. Professional, attractive zero entry pool with ample chaise loungers and chairs. Two shuffleboards, volleyball net, public fire pit and one childrens play area. We stayed at this park in a Class B, but the Class A's and 5th wheels fit in the spaces very well. The pads are exceptionally wide. We enjoyed a great experience at this park. We camped at Sugar Sands RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Nice park however upkeep is poor. Palm trees have died off and will not be replaced. Grass is dying off from a fungus and is not being green Wi fi goes out daily and when working is slow.tv good however for some reason could not function from our video control box. Had to unhook and hook directly to only one tv. Pool is nice, no hot tub. Pads level, concrete . Rates are going up next year by 35% and 13% Baldwin tax lodging tax will be added to daily or other rates. We have been coming for years here but will stay in Florida due to park rates and management problems. Also a new gate which is close to roscoe rd makes it hard to get into park with long rig.
