Loved it, loved it. Staff was more than helpful. I had some small water leaks and no Plumber’s tape available in the store. They made some calls and Plumber’s tape was delivered to camp site. Dog friendly with fenced in large dog play yard and dog waste disposal products available all over park which kept it clean. Great large sites with cable TV. Perdido Bay is peaceful and beautiful and is a very short walk down a steep incline. Internet access was strong. Nice pool area with hot tub, but the temp was too cold for this cold blooded person to attempt this trip. I can’t wait to go back. We camped at Gulf Shores / Pensacola West KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This trip, all I wanted to do was relax with nature by the bay, and this site positively fulfilled that experience.

Mixed feelings about this place. We liked the access to the bay, the nice dog runs, the cable tv, functional w/s/e on our pull-thru site. Probably the best thing was it’s location - no more than half hour to Blue Angels, beautiful white sand beaches, and any shopping you might like including the outlets at Foley. We are big KOA users - they usually suit our philosophy of finding a place to park the trailer so we can adventure in the area, so the closeness of the sites, weak WiFi, and limited outdoor space is expected and not a problem for us. Having said all that we have to note that our site wasn’t level and it was tough getting it there. The sewer connection was way in the back but getting close to it would have meant our slide was blocked. The interior roads are tight. Weak WiFi and limited Verizon and ATT. Most annoyingly, the loud music and off leash dog were at the camp host’s site. Would we return here? Ummm ... maybe, but would look for something else first. We camped at Gulf Shores / Pensacola West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Area was nice, while not located near much, the views were excellent. The hill to the beach was not for the faint of heart. Long pier to walk out on to enjoy the water. We camped at Gulf Shores / Pensacola West KOA in a Travel Trailer.

First Impression: WHOA! Is that uphill road ever steep! Scars in asphalt shows where bumpers were dragged. Safety: No concerns. Access: Try to approach from US-90/US-98 south on CR 99 rather then driving north through Elberta. Access road in good condition, good signage, Garmin GPS is accurate. Office: Friendly staff, nice store with snacks, a few RV equipment items. Credit cards accepted. Online reservations available. My price reflects the KOA discount. Facilities: Pool and spa, rec center but no fitness room. Multiple restrooms/showers very clean but men's room behind office is seriously aged with a section of the ceiling falling down (score "B-"). Propane sales. Big playground. Large off-leash dog run. Campground: Not in a flood plain. Buildings good as storm shelters. Moderately wooded. Interior roads are narrow dirt/gravel in fair condition with sharp turns. No overhead obstacles. Big rig challenging; Prevosts will have maneuvering problems. No tent area or yurts but cabins are available. Premium sites are roomy, some with patios, some on concrete. Less expensive sites are all close, sufficiently level, grass/dirt/gravel, pull-through and back-in, scrub-grass between. Pedestals at middle of site with electric 20/30/50; metered for long-term stays. Adequate water pressure with "OK" taste. Sewer pipe is 4" threaded, just above ground level. Sites have small, aging picnic tables. Ground fires allowed in fire rings. Marginal satellite views (tall trees). Free cable TV. Free Wi-Fi but with weak coverage and poor bandwidth (virtually useless). Verizon phone at 3 bars; 4G at 3 bars. No recycle bins. Noise: No aircraft, traffic, or interstate noise. Distant railroad. Bug Report (early April): no insect issues. Runners: CG roads marginal for running. Yoga: minimal room available for your mat. Conclusion: Score 5-Acceptable. We camped at Gulf Shores / Pensacola West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Everything you'll need is "over the bridge" in Pensacola, Florida. Diesel at Circle-K is $2.759 while at Tom Thumb it's $2.979. The Naval Aviation museum on the Navy base is free and well worth the visit. It's awesome. If you get a chance, climb the Pensacola lighthouse.

These are the positive qualities about Gulf Shores KOA: (1) older but clean with well maintained showers and bathrooms (2) clean pool and hot tub (3) nice fishing pier with a beautiful view (4) friendly staff (5) quiet (6) Chubby's pizza on site. Here are the negative qualities that we encountered on this trip: (1) We paid for a preferred site under oak trees but received site in open sun (2) The swimming area at the bay was the tiniest stretch of water front that I have ever seen and was right beside the fishing pier where fishing lines were in the water (3) The pool deck chairs were disgusting with a build up of dead skin cells (4) The camp sites were too narrow for our 29' camper with a slide out--our slide out went slightly over the bench of our neighbor's picnic table (5) Our neighbor's waste line was butted right up to our small patio where our picnic table sat (6) Picnic table was only big enough for 4 people with plates and cups and nothing else on table (7) Picnic table seat was one 2x6 which measures 5.5 inches to sit on (8) There was no fire pit although it was advertised as having one--too close to neighbors to place one (9) WIFI would kick us off after a couple of minutes over and over. We had 5 people with iPhones and a computer, all with the same problem no matter where you went in the park. In my opinion, this KOA is way overpriced. It wasn't horrible, but it was definitely not what I expected for the price. I will not go back. We camped at Gulf Shores / Pensacola West KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Just over the state line into Alabama, this KOA is a little jewel, located on the waterfront of Perdido Bay. Don't let the steep entry driveway get you down (we scraped our hitch), once you get in it's a very nice little park. Office/store staff very friendly at check-in and escorted us to our site (J-14) helping us orient. Very large pull through site with grass/gravel surface (not quite level) and brick patio, with grill, firepit! And swing. All hookups convenient. Our site had clear sky view for satellite. WIFI signal strong. This KOA has a definite weekend crowd. During the week it was relatively quiet, but on Friday a horde swarmed in, ostensibly to take advantage of the cement pond. Being next to said pool, it got pretty noisy We camped at Gulf Shores / Pensacola West KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. Brunch at the Ruby Slipper worth the long wait. Retro Tours offers a hop-on hop-off tour of Pensacola that offers info on history and sites to see. Fort Pickens a cool civil war era day trip. Good sushi at Kyoto.

Fortunate to get a spot for 2 nights last minute on Memorial Day Weekend. All other campgrounds closer to the Gulf were sold out. Expensive though. Full hookups 50 amp/water/sewer. Fairly level gravel site adjacent to office. Pull through site probably long enough to stay hooked up had we so desired with our 34' fifth wheel. Staff was very nice. Drive into Pensacola wasn't too bad. Older park but ok with some nice, large trees shading some sites. Biggest problem we had was disco ball from pool area sending various colored dots dancing over our shades/curtains all night. Despite nice staff and adequate hookups I think we would prefer to try another park, if available, if we are in Pensacola area again. We camped at Gulf Shores / Pensacola West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is okay. Has a nice pool. Hot tub was broken our entire stay although every day they promised it would be repaired tomorrow. Our biggest problem with campground was screwup with reservations leaving us no camping on a Saturday night and we had to pack up immediately and leave. The nearby beaches are possibly best in America. Tons of restaurants, shopping, amusement parks, arcades. The area is amazing.

We stayed here for 3 nights, would have left after first night, but no refunds are allowed, since we paid for 3 nights, figured might as well stay. Quick advice, stay at a Walmart or Home Depot parking lot, you will be happier in the long run. The campground is very tight, my guess is its an old park designed in 60's or 70's when people had much smaller RV's. Second night our power went out, of course when office is closed, after hours guy came and fixed it, wires had come loose from plug inside the pedestal. Campers are all basically on top of each other, if you have a small TT your fine, but us in a 42ft MH, we were way to big for our site. Office was rude and just plain mean, they have forgotten that they are in a service business. Saw several dogs not on a leash just kind of roaming, did not bother our dogs but others were going nuts. Bottom line, there are a lot of other places to stay in the area, even if you had to pay double, your sanity would be worth it. We ended up moving to a different site after our 3 day hell, same money and 10x nicer. We camped at Gulf Shores / Pensacola West KOA in a Motorhome.

This our third stay. We like KOAs and found this park in 2016 evacuating S Fla during a hurricane. Pricing for a month stay is excellent. Facilities are older but very well kept, including a pool, playground and clubhouse. Grass is mowed and trash (often a sore point with us) is isolated, collected often and kept clean. There are planned activities each week. We have participated in the ones we liked. If we have a concern, it is that this park has many devotees that come back year after year (maybe a very few year round) for the season. While the regulars are certainly friendly, itinerants, even monthlies like us aren't part of this large central group. We camped at Gulf Shores / Pensacola West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

There are some interesting country merchants on the Alabama side as well as Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. (These about 30 min away.) On the Florida side (also 30 min) all the advantages of a Pensacola size city are available. Perdido Key is 15 min away.

Hurricane Irma evacuation stay. Spaces are tight. Drive-thru is stretching the definition as open area navigation is required; beware of obstacles such as camper chair and fire containers placed in open areas. Arrive during daylight if at all possible; sites are not well marked. Helpful staff. Restrooms and showers are maintained as well as possible but are in need of refurbishment. Located on a bay with water access. Pet friendly, adequate playground, pool, etc. We camped at Gulf Shores / Pensacola West KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Sprung for the premium site. Awesome option, as it allows you to spend a bit more and get the site you want! It had its own patio, swing chairs, fire ring and grill. The pool was clean. People were friendly. The park was close to all we came here to see. We did not use the waterfront amenities such as boat rentals, but we will on our next visit. This place is now on our list of preferred campgrounds, and I would recommend it for anyone wanting to see the Gulf Shores area. We camped at Gulf Shores / Pensacola West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

As soon as you turn in the entrance there is a rather steep hill. The sites are small and trying to navigate through the campground towing is difficult. Had there not been empty sites I am not sure how I would have gotten out. I have a 40' fifth wheel and a dually. There is no beach. We camped at Gulf Shores / Pensacola West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This is not a bad park, but there is room for improvement. Most of the workers were very friendly and the pool and clubhouse looked very nice. This biggest drawback is that the site next to us (site F--we were in site F1) is too small for even a pop up, and the group of 6 in it were too close for comfort. Recommend use site F for a rock or flower garden. Also for $37 a night, I would expect at least a concrete pad. Shower/restrooms were clean, but getting decrepit and could use some remodel. Despite the opportunities for improvement, we will probably stay again. We camped at Gulf Shores / Pensacola West KOA in a Travel Trailer.
