This park is a nice place to stay for overnight or longer term when visiting the Mobile area. It's close to I-10 and relatively close to I-65 which allows you to efficiently navigate the area. As others have stated, the park is mostly longer term residents but contains a central area with pull-thru sites for transient RVers. The park is, in fact, shady. However, squirrels in the oak trees may drop/throw acorns down onto the roof of your RV. While this didn't particularly bother me, our dogs found it most annoying! Our site was level, shaded, and the utilities worked well including the cable TV. Office attendant was friendly and helpful - offering advice on touring the Mobile area. We enjoyed the USS Alabama military park which also includes the USS Drum submarine and a very nice airplane exhibit. The airplane exhibit includes an A-12 OXCART (that's the CIA version of the USAF SR-71) which is particularly interesting. We also recommend visiting the town of Fairhope AL - located on the eastern side of Mobile bay, about 35 minutes from this park. In Fairhope, you will find many interesting privately owned shops - much better than going to a mall! We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

While most of the sites are filled with 'resident' campers, it is a quiet & clean park. It offers basic services, no pool, playground etc. Hosts are very friendly & helpful if you want info about the area. We stay here any time we are in the area. We have a 38' motorcoach with tow vehicle & it all fits in most of the RV slots. Larger motorcoaches will find the park a tight fit & several sites have large trees to maneuver around either pulling in or out of the slots. Not all sites are level; we have to use wheel supports most times we stay. You can hear the local train while in the park but not loud enough to effect sleep. Wifi appears to have been upgraded & offers good service even in the evenings when many are streaming. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

The owner came to meet us and it was after 6pm, was an excellent host. We were treated very hospitably. The site was level and clean, Wifi was good . We didn't use the restrooms. Area was quiet . I will stay here again. Close to I 10. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The CG owner, was an excellent host. We were treated very hospitably. The site was level and clean, and the laundry area, bathrooms and shower area were clean. This CG had some full-time residents but this wasn't an issue. Very quiet except for tree trimming on the last morning of our stay--but this has to happen. Cable and wi-fi worked fine. It was a great CG for exploring Mobile, AL, due to the email confirmation I received about ants from the Meaher State Park staff. No ants in my pants at Shady Acres. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Turning off of the main road at the intersection on to Old Military rd was difficult. Signs were not good until you were right up to it. But I would stay there again. Since my wife had her plants in the shower, she went into the bath house to check it out. She came back quickly to remove the plants to take a shower. The place is a combo of men and women showers, rec room, and laundry room with security cameras. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Friendly service. Wifi was so-so. Fairly close to I-10, I-65. Lack of signage could be a problem; there were not any signs along I-10 or surface roads. We did not have a problem as our gps took us right to the park. The only sign we saw was the one directly in front of the park. This is a smaller, older, "plain Jane" park. Quite a few permanent residents. Perfect for one night. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is very clean and well maintained. The owner is very pleasant and accommodating. We stayed just one night as we were traveling from Houston to the Florida Space Coast. The site we had (23) was easy to get in and out of and very level. It was near the entrance and the bath house. There is plenty of grassy areas for the dogs to sniff around. I highly recommend this park if you are in the area. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice older park and the owner was very nice. Again lots of permanents/workers which seems to be the norm at most campgrounds now. Showers and laundry were in an older mobile home, but were clean and in good working order. The turn onto the road to get to the campground was very tight. Also needs better signs telling you which drive to turn into. Will return if in the area. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Access to Shady Acres is very easy off I-10 west of the city of Mobile. You will be surprised when you drive through a quite residential area and find Shady Acres right there in the middle! There are a lot of old wood trees - thus Shady Acres - providing the most relief from the hot summer days on our trip. The owner (since 1952) met us at the office, check-in was speedy and we had a site right next to the shower house. Our site was gravel and level with FHU. short-term/overnight campers get the great sites right down the middle of the park for pull-troughs. There was plenty of room for much bigger rigs that were towing to comfortably set up. The interior roads were easy to navigate. The grounds were clean as were the shower house. There is trail access to the river. The family houses are close to the river access, but they welcome you to come and hang out. Several sites had long-term campers. They were helpful with local restaurants and points of interest. We stayed on site 43-A which is the only heads up to provide. 3 times over the course of our stay, we lost power. Each time I reset the surge protector and we were back in business. I finally realized the 30-amp receptacle at 43-A was old and on it's last leg. The surge protector would work its way out of the socket and cause the protector to trip. I was pushing it back in the first 2 times thinking I had pulled it out when I reset the protector. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

We stopped here for only an overnighter. This is a smaller campground with quite a few full time permanent campers. But, the park is clean, sites are good size, Quick Wi-Fi, and friendly staff. It is not far from the interstate, but is had no road noise. Plenty of walking area for the four legged kids with a short nature trail that ends up just a few feet from a little river. This place will be on a list of places to stay when we are in the area again. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

I stay at this small campground overnight periodically because its quite and convenient to I-10/Mobile. Nothing special about the park - paved roads, gravel sites, no pads or picnic tables. Most of sites are filled with long term campers but seam neat and well cared for. There are few large level pull through sites in the front that are usually available for overnight travelers. You can get satellite in these. WiFi is Ok. Can't beat the price! We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

The sites were large and level. All graveled. Nice trees that didn't block access to the sites. Large grassy area for the dogs to sniff around in. Drawbacks: no patio or picnic table though I'm not sure we'd have used them as it was hot and humid anyway. We camped at Shady Acres Campground in a Motorhome.
