Really a nice park, the sites are long and private. I didn't stay on water front, we were in site 42, we had tv. The only thing were the bugs, they were terrible, I guess nats, so we stayed inside for two weeks, we tried bug spray, but we both have coped and it didn't help with our breathing, I had to take the dog out and got some kind of bites all over me, hopefully it's a time of yr that they come, otherwise a very nice park. - Patricia3441

Cannot recall a COE campground that was bad, but this one is one of the really better ones. A bit off the beaten path for an overnight stop but a nice destination park. Sites are widely spaced and just about all are very long and concrete paved. Only a few pull throughs but back-ins are easy. We much preferred the river sites for the view and satellite access and we got about a dozen off air stations. Hosts we met were very friendly. The only negative we experienced is the bugs...mosquitos and gnats were pretty pesky. Agree with most comments from the previous review except we did not notice the messy sites they mentioned. Would definitely come here again for a longer stay to relax in the quiet. - Grumpier99

On the banks of the Alabama River. Park is quiet with great host campers, large sites and a lot of quiet. Clean power properly wired and grounded. Many of the hiking trails were under water due to the flooding so hiking was limited this time. Sites are well cared for with the exception of a couple in the back where the park ranger has not enforced the "don't leave your junk behind" rules for special friends that stay longer than the normal. If not for the junk, gas grill, lights, smoker and other items this camper left behind the park would have had a top rating. Mentioned the trash to the host and were told they have mentioned it to park staff with no results. To bad as this is a nice park. Not as remote as many have suggested. About a half hour to town for groceries and services. Town is only a half hour away so it pays to do your shopping before heading to camp. Interior roads are good but access roads are narrow so pay attention on your way in. Try to get a site on the river and not the creek if you have solar power. Fewer trees along the river. AT&T only had 2 bars so internet was weak. TV over the air had 30 channels most of which were strong signals. Sits right in the middle of hunting and fishing with a great view of the locks and dam. Night time was excellent! - Micheal Whelan

Nice quiet park if you're not looking for a lot of extras i.e. no fire rings, no showers, bathrooms, cable, only 3 picnic tables. Nice affordable monthly rate . You can wash your RV and shoot off fireworks. Just ask first. - bailmanFTRV

Don't expect anything fancy. In fact, don't expect much at all except for a plain and simple place to stay. It is by the side of the road, out in an open field. Only about a dozen sites and you are right on top of each other. It is a very quiet field, across from a farm with a bunch of heifers that love to talk out loud all day long. I mean the animals. The owner does not live on site and there is no office. She is a very nice lady that drops by daily and will bend over backwards to help you out. There is a laundry and bath house on site that is clean and roomy. Only one person at a time. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Great community, nice people. We attended a local church and met some nice folks. - thesarge7

Very nice owner. Basically, this is someone's front yard just a few miles from I-65. Sites are just grass, and close together. There is noise from the road right out front as the road leads to I-65 and it's a fast two lane road. We recommend using pads if there's been rain. We sunk so deep the first time leveling we thought we were going to get stuck, pulled the jacks back up and redid with pads. There is a laundry room available. You have to drive about 10 miles to find grocery stores and restaurants. They accept Passport America during the week so you can't beat the rate. This is an acceptable overnight stop and yes, it does beat staying at a Wal-Mart. The owner was concerned enough about the electric to warn us how to reset the electric should we lose power. We used only 30 amp service and didn't have any problems this time of year. - sparky59
Jul 2009 - $11.00
This was a very nice, but very basic RV park. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The RV sites are all well kept grass and were level. The park is only a few miles off of the interstate and access is very easy. With the Passport America rate it was an ideal place to spend the night. We were treated like we were a part of the owner's family. I would definitely stay there again whenever we are in the area. - rgatijnet

This place is the pits. By far the grossest, most unpleasant place I have ever been to. The staff were mutes. They did not make eye contact or acknowledge your presence unless you were holding a credit card. The grounds are a dump. The pool is filthy and unsafe. The playground consists of pieces from the dump and a few old tires. Everyone drinks and smokes ALL DAY. We were the only sober people walking around at noon. There is nothing to do here but drink. We thought of drinking the weekend away so we would be able to deal with this place but wanted to have our wits with us in case someone picked a fight with us or tried to steal our car. Don't go here, your sanity and life depends on it. - pookyellis
Mar 2018 - $18.00
Cost is Passport America rate. We arrived in the rain. It looked much worse than it is. Roads are hard packed red clay with many ruts from water erosion. Sites are gravel. No picnic tables, patio, cable, or Wi-Fi. Had weak AT&T signal Had no problem leveling my RV. - dlfishing
Dec 2016 - $18.00
Very Lovely Park. ALL PULL THROUGH spots. (not sure if) all were 50 AMP service. Note to new travelers: This campground is on a NON-Paved Road, it is rocky, and sandy, but not difficult to go in or out of.
We pulled in and out of this campground during nasty rain, and it was NOT difficult to maneuver, despite the rain. Some previous reviews complained about poor roads. Comparatively speaking, these roads are NOT any worse (and much better then ones found in parts of North and South Dakota) than average non-paved roads.
The park, although not paved, was lovely. Set up was extremely nice, with a convenient bath-house/laundry-room and walking paths (if not raining!) There was a little lake down a path but I didn't go there.
Only problem was that no one was in the office the entire time. There was a sign on the door to just pick a site and they'd find us, but they never showed up (we left $ in the box anyway). - cherylbrv
Sep 2016 - $30.00
This park is so run down, I wouldn't advise anyone to go there. The interior roads and sites are mostly Alabama red clay with gravel and grass mixed in. The office was closed on the Sunday afternoon we pulled in. We needed a spot for overnight so we chose the first one that looked fairly level. There are no picnic tables and the fire ring was full of grass and weeds. There were about 5 full time residents and we did see one on his way to the bath house. When we left the next day, we had to put our payment in the drop box because the office was still closed. We never did meet the owner. The road we needed to use to leave our site had such a large rut from water erosion extending across most of the road that we chose to drive over the grass. We would NEVER stay here again. - dickens
