Would have ranked higher, but for neglect of facility. The entry gate is broken and not repaired. A tree on the entry road has clearly not been trimmed in a while, and scraped the top of my motor home. Don't know if any damage was done, but this is a self-evident failure of responsibility. Some other trees also need trimming. We camped at Frank Jackson State Park in a Motorhome.

Great park, just a little on the higher side in terms of price. The lake is very nice with good fishing. Nature trails are really pretty. We even spotted a baby gator under the boardwalk! This is just a little higher than expected compared to other state parks in the area. But, plenty of amenities so I can't complain too much! We camped at Frank Jackson State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Benton's has good food in town. Not a lot of choices other than fast food. The grocery store just outside the park has very reasonable prices.

We stayed just one night as we were traveling through. The site was well shaded, as most seemed to be, and the hookups were very accessible. The park has some nice trails and scenic lake views. We enjoyed our stay. We camped at Frank Jackson State Park in a Motorhome.

We love this park! Friendly staff. Lots of beautiful back-in, lakeside sites. It is fun to take a run on the trails and across the bridge to run on the island. Hookups work well. Quiet park. We camped at Frank Jackson State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a nice state park beautifully set on a lake created by a nearby dam. Most of the spaces are on the water, with a few, mostly larger spaces above the main area and away from the water. All the spaces are blind-side back ins. We came with a larger fifth wheel (36ft), and backing wasn't easy in the only spot we found left when we arrived (we had a reservation, but at Frank Jackson a reservation is just a hunting license for any open spaces -- there are no reservations for specific sites). The hookups were good (50 amp power, water, sewer, and cable TV). The TV cable offered many dozens of channels, some in full HD. It was the dead of winter when we were there, so we can't offer any opinion on boating or other water activities, but I suspect they are nice. The town of Opp is very close by, but other than a few fast food choices, there's not much shopping. Andalusia, about 15 minutes west, has a Walmart and somewhat more varied offerings in the shopping and restaurant categories. We'd gladly stay here again provided we arrived much earlier in the day to get a better space. We camped at Frank Jackson State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a beautiful state park, most site beside the lake. I had a very nice pull thru site with picnic table and fire ring. The utilities were very well located and worked great. The cable tv was also good. Did not try wifi. The bathrooms and showers were modern and clean as a pin. They also have some nice walking trails thru the woods and around the lake. Very quite and a great place to spend some time. We camped at Frank Jackson State Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice little park with full hook-up including cable. Many shady sites back up to the water, mostly back in with a few pull-throughs, but long enough that we did not have to unhook. Bathrooms were very clean. We picked out site after we drove in, and they came by later to assign it to us. That was nice so we did not have to drive back out to the gate. Kind of pricey for a state park, but we liked it & would come back. We camped at Frank Jackson State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Pick your site before you go around the corner after the bathrooms. The sites after the corner do not have as nice of a view of the lake.

Lovely well designed and well maintained park but very expensive at least for an out-of-state traveler on a weekend. You get what you pay for though -- free wifi, cable, and full hookups on shady, widely spaced, gravel, level sites which have a fire ring and table and back up to a large lake with a wonderful lake breeze. Most could hold a large RV. There are some sites on top of the hill away from the lake in full sun. Way too much money for one of those sites. Lovely well-maintained walking trails totaling about 4 miles for walking the dog. We camped at Frank Jackson State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice park with most sites next to the lake. Sites are spacious and have a fire ring and table. Full hookups are really nice although the water pressure is a little low but adequate. The cable has dozens of channels. Most all sites along the lake are heavily shaded making for mice quiet time enjoying the lake. We camped at Frank Jackson State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sites are mostly with beautiful lake view. Sites Reasonably sized and well spaced. Grounds well kept. Staff friendly and helpful. Cable TV is great with numerous channels. Smaller park that we enjoy immensely. During October 2015 stay friends of the park put on a great scarecrow display along the walking/hiking trails. Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park. We are in space 29, which is a very wide and long gravel pad. We are in a 41' motorhome with slides on both sides, and we have plenty of room to accommodate our exercise pens that we use for our pups. The park has WiFi, but it is slow, and the signal is weak. We have a strong WiFi booster, but even with a good signal, pages load slowly, but they do load. The park also has excellent cable, with over 100 channels, which is something you don't usually see in a state park. The town of Opp is rather small, and has a few fast food restaurants, and only one grocery store.

We are staying here only one night this trip in route to our next destination. We will most definitely stay here again, and will likely spend more time here the next time we come through. We camped at Frank Jackson State Park in a Motorhome.

The park is a beautiful park and well maintained. The Wi-Fi was excellent and cable was more than adequate. At the entry station the ranger was most helpful. We were very impressed with a state park having all of benefits that this park has. The only bad thing was, that we were invaded by tiny black ants. We camped at Frank Jackson State Park in a Motorhome.

This is an outstanding state park, full hookup 50/30 amp, good cable TV, and very good Wi-Fi. The grounds and the facilities are all very well maintained and clean as a pin. Very nice large and level sites, most on the lake. A nice sand beach swimming area, great kids playground, boat ramp and small dock. Management was very friendly and helpful. As I said the bathrooms were as clean as a pin, but the only negative was that the water was never more than lukewarm during my 4 day stay, but I would certainly stay here again. We camped at Frank Jackson State Park in a Motorhome.
