Nice park and setting. Didn't use the facilities available. Handy to Oak Mountain State Park. Quiet and clean. Site wasn't dead level but level enough for jacks. Wifi was good. We camped at Birmingham South Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

First Impression: The CG is below the road level. Buildings are attractive and just enough trees to be appealing. Safety: no concerns. Access: I-65 exit 242 then west less than ½ mile. Turn right behind the Home Depot, past Word Street then angle to the right, down to the CG. Municipal road in good condition, poor signage, not in Garmin data base. Office: Friendly staff, store with snacks and supplies and more RV equipment items than most RV dealers. Credit cards accepted. Online reservations not available. My price reflects Good Sam discount. Facilities: Pool and hot-tub (not open yet). No fitness room or rec center. Clean laundry room. Very nice restrooms/showers (score "A"). Propane sales. Huge playground. No off-leash dog run. Campground: Not in a flood plain. Use restrooms as a storm shelter. Moderately wooded. Interior roads are narrow gravel and asphalt in poor condition (potholes, ruts) with acceptable turns. Overhead branches have been trimmed. Big rig friendly but long coaches might have maneuvering problems. No tent area or yurts, but cabins are available. Sites are all nearby-to-spacious, sufficiently level, gravel or asphalt, pull-through and back-in, grass between. Asphalt pads overdue for resurfacing. Pedestals at middle of site with electric 20/30/50; no meters. Adequate water pressure with acceptable taste. Sewer pipe is 4" unthreaded, at ground level. No patios. Rough, aging picnic tables. Ground Fires not permitted; no fire rings. Marginal satellite views. Free cable TV. OTA TV found 8 channels. Free Wi-Fi with good coverage and bandwidth. Verizon phone at 3 bars; 4G at 1-2 bars. Recycle bins for plastic and aluminum only. Noise: No aircraft, local traffic, or interstate noise. Nearby railroad with whistles. Bug Report (mid April): no insects noted. Runners: CG roads marginal for running. Yoga: grass areas big enough for your mat. Conclusion: Score 7-Good. We camped at Birmingham South Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a nice park. The sites are gravel, but close together. Fairly level. The store here is unlike any I’ve seen. They have everything you could ever need for your rig in there, including ice . Traffic around here is pretty bad if you’re needing to go anywhere, so plan accordingly. Nice showers, laundry and all the hookups. I’d stay here again We camped at Birmingham South Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Interior roads are little tight, but doable. The section where we were was level, had nice grass and open for satellites. There was another section that was more wooded and was occupied by what looked like long term campers. Overall it was fine, but it really could use some TLC to get a higher rating from me. I would stay here again if passing through. We camped at Birmingham South Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here the night of Oct. 6 in a 30'10" FW. This park is an old KOA but is in good condition. Cable was fair and the Wi-Fi was spotty. Our site was a pull-through on gravel/dirt pad. This is a good place to stay over night and we would stay here again. We camped at Birmingham South Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Older campground with very few large sites. Lots of long-term campers. It worked for an overnight stop. Easy to find, friendly staff, laundry room was nice and clean. Utilities worked well. Although close to interstate, we didn't hear any noise. Would stay again for an overnight. We camped at Birmingham South Campground in a Motorhome.

Our 50 amp power plug was falling off the pedestal. Site was, at one time, concrete (probably while it was a KOA). Now it is broken up with ruts and dips. Very over priced for what it is. I will not be returning if I can help it. Tight turning radius. Most spaces taken up by seasonal/permanent trailers. We camped at Birmingham South Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We did a trip out to Texas this summer and this was our very first stop. A very nice campground which, I think, must have once been a KOA but thats neither here nor there. The sites were spacious and wide for our slideouts and long enough for our toad to park behind our motorhome. We had a pull-thru site near the office. It was for the most part level without very much adjustment. There was a lot of gravel in the park and as far as I remember, none of the sites were paved. The bathhouses were clean and well stocked and were air-conditioned. If in the area again, we would definitely stay there again. We camped at Birmingham South Campground in a Motorhome.

We only spent 1 night at this park. We arrived after hours. The check in process for after hours was easy. On the night arrival board they listed the sites that were available and how long each site can accommodate. We took a pull thru, the hook ups were right on and close to where we needed to connect up to. The rv park is close to the interstate so it was convenient with many choices of fast food restaurants to choose from. Both ATT & Verizon had strong signals. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Birmingham South Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

I've stayed at this campground on two different occasions, one night each time. There are lots of shade trees, a small dog area, playground equipment, a campground store, pool, and helpful staff. The lots I have had both times have been sloped so much that the leveling jacks gave up trying to correct the angle. The speed bumps and a few potholes are rough on a motorhome and its contents. We enjoyed staying here. We were there for a softball tournament. The park was located in a good area, it had easy access. The staff was friendly and helpful. The park it self was good. The restrooms were good as well. Our only complaint is the roads need some repair and the sites/pads are tight and need some work. Overall, it's a good place. We will stay here again. Office was very good to move my reservation and accommodate me when I had to adjust because of weather up north. Sites were fine. Park seemed clean. There was little high way noise, but there was an occasional train that was close. I would stay there again. We camped at Birmingham South Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Old KOA site taken over 15 years ago. Clean but needs to be refurbished as the pads are crumbling and not to level. About 40% of sites are FT. Cable is all fuzz but good H2O pressure. Stay 5 nights while we played the RTJ golf trail. Ross Bridge & Oxmoor Valle Ridge. Close to many services. We camped at Birmingham South Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
