FYI: This park is now closed as the property has been sold to Love's truck stop. However I hear that most of the campground is moving to a new location at Exit 21. Go South 3 miles. This campground already has power and water and sewage will be going in soon. - agcaldwell
Sep 2013 - $37.00
Clean park, nice staff (at the Marathon Station) check in at the station easy on and off 85 good for overnight stop - S E Williams
Jun 2012 - $27.00
We enjoy this park when coming through. Off I-85 just east of Montgomery. Have never needed a reservation. Nice small lake and the Wi-Fi is good. No cableTV, but air reception is good and open enough to get good satellite reception. - agcaldwell

Prior reviews tell it all. One note for prior visitors, the campsite numbers have been changed. For example our wonderful site last year was 27, this year it is 102. TV reception last year was good, this year we only got PBS. Our Verizon phone was marginal, Verizon data service OK. The rate is for Golden Age card. - rncordy
Aug 2008 - $25.00
This park is now run by AWA properties and does NOT have any amenities except basic cable TV is provided (no bath house/laundry). We loved it being close to shopping yet woodsy and out of site of traffic. We lived here fulltime for nearly a year. The electric is not metered: included in the rent. There are only 2 pull through sites. Mrs Watson still lives in big house behind park. I'd highly recommend this park for someone working in the Montgomery area. - slawrence

I was in the tent camping area. There were 3 employees working at the Marina. When I got to my campsite the trash cans on all sites were full and trash scattered by raccoons. I stayed 3 nights and not once did anyone come empty the trash cans. No toilet paper in bathrooms. Found that out the hard way. There is so much work to do there. If there are 3 employees only 1 should be at the Marina, especially since all they sell is ice. The others need to be cleaning up the campsites and bathrooms. Great place on the lake. Very beautiful. But it is being so neglected. - Badonkadonk
May 2017 - $20.00
I read all the bad reviews. Thought it couldn't be that bad. It is. This campground seems to be a neglected step child among the mostly decent military campgrounds that I have been to. Our pad and the other TT accompying us had to be elevated 5 inches just to be close to level. Our two pads were dirt only. The picnic tables were on ground so unlevel a coffee cup slid off. Our pad required a 100' back-in, downhill, on dirt and pine straw, with a 90 degree turn at the bottom. Next to it is was an array of three TTs sitting at all different angles in a hillside with so much stuff scattered about it looked like a yard sale. If you come here avoid sites 41, 42, 51 and possibly others. Better yet go across the lake to the State Park. We wanted to do that but waited too late for Memorial weekend reservations. Now we know why this place was available. - Tidy Boy
Sep 2014 - $20.00
The location of this park on Lake Martin is great, but park amenities are in extreme disrepair. Our site was water/electric only right on the lake with its own dock and good tree coverage. But the site was so unlevel that even with leveling jacks it took over an hour to level it. The entire campground is ant infested so bring at least 2-3 cans of ant killer because they will get in and on your RV. The bathrooms are full of spiderwebs, ants, and black mold. Only one of the two showers in the men's and women's bathrooms worked and the sink in the women's bathroom actually fell out of the wall. When I tried to use the dumping station, it was full of ants and over flowing with sewage. For the kids there is a small beach and a new playground. Boats are also available for rent. - Cap'n G

Campground is just off US 231 on the banks of the Tallaposa River, some sites have carport covers tall enough for any RV, but no longer than 30', narrow road down to the park, beware to swing wide on the left turn back up the road on leaving (we scratched our paint on some metal stantions hidden in the weeds), many permanent residents, this campground is nothing fancy, but we have had a pleasant stay both times we have stayed there for a week each time. - AFChap

This is a clean park right of the main road. The sites are gravel and the roads are packed dirt/stone. The hookups were good. There are two large dog parks, the old one with shade and the new one in the sun. - Michael47
Oct 2018 - $25.00
Beautiful campground, that has about a dozen sites that are not full timers. The sites are spacious, the full time RV's are all very nice and modern. Beautiful grassed areas everywhere, nice fenced dog run. Very clean and very quiet. - JeffK
Sep 2018 - $29.00
We stayed here 3 nights. The park is clean and our site was comfortable. The park is handy off Hwy 231 on the north side of Montgomery. They have a large fenced-in dog run, a nice fishing line with a walkway around it, and roomy grass/tree areas on 2 sides of the park. We would stay here again if in the area. Interesting - gbburgess

Jun 2018 - $30.00
Have stayed at this park many times. Great owners. More of football tailgating park. No wifi or cable TV. - J&E
Oct 2017 - $45.00
We reserved for a two night stay, non-game weekend. Drove through hundreds of empty, parked RVs, obviously "permanent" tailgaters - to the office. One person who couldn't assign a space to us. Phoned for instructions, gave us a spot. We followed directions to a series of back-in spaces that we were told to utilize as a pull-through (we'd requested a pull through on the phone). Was not easy to do because of placement of sewers and water. We shared the experience with another couple who had been assigned "our space" as well. Park was quiet, dumpster looked like it hadn't been emptied since the last game weekend. Definately doesn't qualify as a resort in our minds. Does not seem amenable to overnighters in our estimation. - Flsnowflake
May 2016 - $40.00
Spent two nights at University Station during graduation. This is a very large park with well kept parking spots. Some RV parking locations had a slight slope down hill to a level parking spot. Our spot was 80' long.
Pros: very nicely maintained park, good water pressure and electrical service, all utilities were correctly located on the lot. Very nice shade trees, grass manicured, packed gravel lot.
Cons: No signage providing directions to the office. Directly across the street from the train tracks. Once past the office, the road becomes gravel. There had been some heavy rain earlier in the week and water had eroded the road resulting in some small ditches carved in the road.
Overall, a very nice park and we'll be back again. - Maddog11

Dec 2018 - $15.00
Stayed there 5 days. Old campground, paved sites...very shady, even in the winter. Campground is quiet and out of the main stream. Water and electric, have to use the dumping station. Very few RV's here in December... At $15 a nite--you can't beat it for a stopping off place. - Rusty Quilter
Aug 2018 - $15.00
Small mostly wooded campground at the junction of the Tallapoosa and Coosa Rivers. The campground consists of a large circle around an open field surrounded by woods. The inner sites have a good view of the sky for satellite reception. There is an 1830's cottage that serves as museum and park office. There is a display at the site of the first fort as well as a recreation of of the 1751 fort next to the campground. Most interesting to us were the pair of replica Creek native American homes. On the downside the rest rooms are in serious need of renovations. The men's showers were partially collapsed and two of the four were closed. - Appleknocker
Jul 2018 - $15.00
The bathrooms were quite dirty. There are some permanent residents there. No problem with them. As a matter of fact, they were friendly to all. This campground was not very full. If you need a base near Montgomery, give this a try. If you don't need sewer and bathrooms, you can't beat it! It's also very close to the casino. Just a heads up, the casinos in Alabama all have the bingo slots. - har-fl

Have to call owner in advance to have utilities unlocked. Never saw owner, only talked on phone, paid by putting check in mailbox. Site #3 can be a little tricky getting out because of tree. - packrat1941
Jan 2015 - $12.00
This is a new campground (Aug 2014) w/packed gravel sites beside older patio slabs. Utilities are at rear against the 8' wide pad making a very tight turn into the site. In addition to the RV sites, there is a lot of tenting space. Owners live apx 1/4 mile away and work elsewhere during the day. CALL AHEAD for space & to get utilities unlocked. Owners are very helpful/attentive and have plans to add a bathhouse/laundry and more sites. Right across the road from the head of the Swayback Trail for hiking/biking. - AFChap

Nov 2017 - $42.00
Have stayed here 4 times now - is halfway point for our travels from NC to NOLA. Place is immaculate! Pull thru concrete sites are level and super convenient! The outside areas added are gorgeous for special activities. Linda is so helpful to work with getting a site during our travels! Had coffee made for our departure this am! Would definitely recommend and will stay here again! - rwright
May 2017 - $44.00
We stayed here for two nights and loved it. Very clean and had concrete pads. Couldn't get cable to come in but didn't need it since gone both days for wedding. The people are mainly permanent but very nice. Would stay again. One of cleanest rv spots ever stayed in. - Charlotte reece
Mar 2016 - $45.00
Way overpriced! There is nothing here to justify $45/night WITH the discount. Not even a dog walk area. Just take your dogs down the row and let 'em rip on someone else's living space. Not my preferred method. I had one of the 1/2 dozen concrete pull throughs which was not level by any means. The spaces are tight, the gravel interior roads very rough, the garbage cans (no dumpster) were overflowing (I counted 4 for the entire park) and were not emptied during the 2 days I was there. And this is off season. But the people were very nice! That is a plus! I guess if your are an Auburn football fan you might be grateful just to have a place to park and party. But since I am not an Auburn football fan this park fell way, way short. How Good Sam could rate it an 8/10/10 is totally beyond me - and makes me totally suspicious of their review system. Not again. I will try something else if I ever visit Auburn again. I have a 42' and pull a full size pick up. There was enough room to maneuver in the park but it was just enough. - kdlee747
