Dec 2018 - $50.00
After reading some of the comments that said ASK for your Good Sam discount, I did not and did NOT get it. I think for the price charged they need do so improvements to the roads, still have a lot of bare clay that needs grass. Some trees need limbs trimming to not hit your unit. Sites are nice but lack the pop for a "resort" listing. Have been staying here for over 17 years and lots of changes for the better but not being keep up to cost standards. - Waster
Oct 2018 - $45.00
Part of annual Bluebird Wanderlodge rally. Very nice park but no recycling, so no 5 stars. Very clean park, kept neat & tidy, friendly staff. Several premium sites, those up on the hill, have patios of pavers atop Georgia's red clay - our site & several others had few pavers, so lots of sticky red mud. Hopefully tose will be repaired before we're back next fall. - finally Free
Oct 2018 - $50.00
I have stayed in this campground many times for an overnighter on my way back from the Florida panhandle. Always stay in the newer section that has concrete pads but no real patio - just some stepping stones in the ground. I don't like that the pads have a curb on the left side. I always unhook my tow vehicle because I usually have to back up a bit to get on the pad correctly which is inconvenient. Also they have 2 sewer hookups but, unless I was staying longer and took out my additional sewer hoses, neither are do-able. I usually pull forward in the morning to dump. Wifi was good but the cable was fuzzy. Still it's good for overnight or a few days to visit Calloway Gardens. I don't like their non-refundable cancellation policy and never make a reservation until I'm on the road and know I'll be stopping. You can pay a higher price and get a refund if you have to cancel but that seems like gouging to me. I could understand this during high volume times but when I've been there the campground was pretty empty. Make sure you ask for Good Sam discount as it's not offered. - IntrepidCampers

A peaceful setting on a pristine lake. Our site was level. Everything worked well. - Skipp
Nov 2018 - $14.00
Very nice COE campground! I wish the weather would have been nicer - cold and raining. Site was on the water and it would have been nice to sit beside the lake and enjoy the views. Site was large and neighbors were within sight but not earshot. I only stayed one night but I would go back for a longer stay. - jnateg
Aug 2018 - $14.00
Great COE park. We had a site on the water. We asked for a pull-thru and were given a double site that worked fine. Very quiet. Few boats in the water. - Wandering

May 2015 - $14.00
This is another magnificent COE park. Some people seem to have a hard time locating it because it straddles the state line of AL/GA. This caused some low usage at times and the Corps has decided to only open it for three days per week in the 2015 season. This is the only drawback to an otherwise great place to get away. - tommyg
Aug 2011 - $12.00
This is an excellent COE campground. The rate quoted was with Golden Age Passport. The restrooms with shower were spotless and were cleaned twice a day. The sites were very wide and accommodated my RV (35 foot) without any problems. The only drawback is that there is not any stores within 7 miles of the campground, so be sure you have everything you need. - Phillip D

Beautiful Park next to West Point Lake. This is near LaGrange, Ga. There was no shower house near our loop and the bathroom was not close. Make sure your tanks are empty before parking. 2 Bars on the ATT Cellphone. Too shady for Satellite. We picked up about 10 Channels over the air. - Ridgekid
Jun 2018 - $12.00
Nice campground on a beautiful lake. We used for an overnight stay, had to pay for two nights but was worth it with pass. Campground needs updating somewhat, site was muddy even though it was gravel at one time. Water and 30 amp electric. Quite a distance from I-85 but good roads, easy to navigate. - Red_1955

Nice park, camp sites are kept pretty well with asphalt pads and gravel picnic area. Beautiful view of lake West Point from my site. - T Hooton
May 2016 - $12.00
We stayed here 20 years ago when, as we remember, the campground we more open. My, how much the trees have grown! We could not get satellite reception. But, this is a great campground for fishing (on-shore or boats) and other water sports. The campground has several parking areas for boat trailers. A very quiet campground and we will come again. - gatordan
Apr 2014 - $24.00
We only overnighted here but we will definitely return. While this campground is well outside of the city of LaGrange, it is a beautiful facility along the shores of West Point Lake. Sites are large and private with paved pads, easy back in, and a woodsy lakeside setting. Everything is very well tended and clean. - khorne

Sep 2017 - $40.00
An okay campground to stay at for a night. Gravel roads and mostly level sites. Looks like the place is a work in progress. Owner very nice and escorted us to our site. A bit much to pay. It looked like all sites are full hook up. - cneeka
Jun 2017 - $40.00
We used this campground as an over night stop to Florida. The staff we extremely friendly and escorted us to our site and pointed out locations for hookups. I don't know if there was any bathroom facilities or not. There are a lot of full time residents here. Most were construction people and I assume they were working there at the campground as they are in the process of making a lot of improvements. It is just off a busy hwy and noise was a problem but we turn our air conditioner to constant fan and it drowned the noise out. This place has a lot of potential and I think will be much improved in the months to come. We stayed there on the way to and from Florida.. - Garrison Smith
Dec 2015 - $35.00
Gravel sites with red clay on top. Hookups worked great. Very friendly owner who escorted us to our site. Checks or cash only no discounts. No Wifi or cable but was able to get satellite. Only stopped for overnight not sure if we would stop again. - roaming around

My sister and her husband stayed in their RV beside us in 2 new sites they just opened. More work needs to be done on these sites. The rest of the campground was well maintained. There was no odor as mentioned in another review. We had 3 other family units visiting us for a small reunion and were able to use the pavilion for no charge, just clean the grill. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful and even agreed to take a short video of all of us to send a birthday wish to my friend in Vietnam. We all had a very blessed stay. - Linda P

DO NOT STAY HERE..DO NOT!!!! WREEKED of SEWAGE!!!! NOT JUST b/c it rained. Like a visit to Deliverance!!! Seriously the WORST place we have ever stopped. We found someplace else and moved!!!! Word locally is they dump sewage into retention pond---it smelled like it!!!!! If I could give a ZERO I would!!! - Rvtimes
Jul 2010 - $25.00
I was supposed to stay for two nights only lasted one. The campground is littered in trash. The campfire ring had old clothes, bottles, and trash in it along with the two sites next to me. The bathrooms were never cleaned and were the worst that I have seen since camping. Shower curtain was covered in mold, and the floors had not been swept or moped in a long time. The road is gravel with pot holes and washed out places. The back of the sites had beer cans and bottles all in the woods. The majority of the sites were unlevel. I would highly recommend staying away from this place. They had no pride in the campground at all. - smedic29

This park is out of the way by quite a bit. We had trouble finding it even with GPS. However once we got there, we were very happy we found it. sites are concrete and level. Everything worked fine. Gave it a 9 instead of 10 because of its location and they only take cash or checks. - Bojangles
Sep 2017 - $35.00
We camped here for an MSU/AU football game. The location was excellent. We were able to catch a shuttle for the game at the next exit west on I85. The manager and staff were friendly and accommodating. The camp ground and facilities were clean and well maintained. The facility is owned by the city of Opelika, AL. They make reservations by phone and accept cash or checks when you arrive. - jwindham

We fled in a MotorCoach from central FL and Hurricane Irma to this delightful rv park. What a gem of a park ! Concrete level pads, full hookups all around, lush grass, superb gravel roomy interior roads. All just 6 miles off I-85 expy. Mgr was fantastic too. We will go out of our way to come back. - David Fuller

We stayed 3 days. The park is right beside the lake. About 1/2 the sites are lakeside and the other 1/2 have lake view. All sites are level with crushed gravel pads and great hookups. It's one of the cleanest campgrounds I've seen and the staff was extremely helpful. - Buddy Ray
Apr 2017 - $20.00
We stay at this campground four or five times a year and love it. The host(s) are always very helpful and friendly. The facilities are always clean and in good order. The pads are always clean. This is our favorite place to camp. - BrentGreene
Apr 2013 - $20.00
We love this park. The park is in Central time and the office is on Eastern time, so have to pay attention when the gate is locked. We stayed by the lake but there are other sites that are good too. There's fishing and water activities and a small playground for the kids. It's well worth the trip to stay. Be sure you have groceries--it's a few miles to get to nearest food source. - jimdee

Jan 2008 - $20.00
Hard to say whether this place is friendly. We never saw a soul. Just signs telling us where to drop our money. We called the phone number posted, but the woman who answered was nowhere near this place and knew nothing. So we deducted the Good Sam discount since they advertise on their own sign and in Trailer Life as a Good Sam park and dropped the resulting $20 in the box. There's no reason to ever come back. If the trains persist, there will be a good reason to stay away. The rumble actually shakes the motorhome slightly, and the whistle is louder than we like to have the television volume. I agree that the banners with the Bible verses are over the top considering the contrast between what they imply and the complete indifference these people seem to have to the people from whom they want to take money. It won't be us again! - woodman
Feb 2007 - $17.00
Hoofer's is the most non-hospitable RV campground we have encountered in 30 years of road travel. We phoned ahead to make sure the place was open for business. The phone was answered, "Gospel Barn." I asked if this was the correct number for the RV park and was told yes. The person on the phone volunteered no information, and sounded as though she was annoyed at having been interrupted. It was easy enough to find the place, but there was absolutely nobody around to greet us, do registration, whatever. At the gate, we found a stack of registration forms that had been left out in the weather, with instructions to fill one out and put it in an ordinary tin mailbox, along with our payment. Never mind that we prefer to use credit cards, and we certainly were not going to leave a check under the circumstances. The sites, such as they are, are laid out in rows in a big open area. Since the roads were gravel, becoming overgrown, there was no way to know if any of them were pull-throughs. Because we were tired, we made camp in spite of our misgivings. We watched half a dozen others come in the gate and go through the same confusing process we did. A few truckloads of workers showed up, but it appeared they were a painting crew, just using one of the sheds on the place for storage. I have never spent the night on a Wal-mart parking lot, but I am certain I'd get a better welcome there. Bible verses posted here and there on banners were actually offensive in the context of this we-don't-give-a-damn management. I suppose you could call it salvation by post-It notes, but the place showed no evidence of anyone caring about anything other than the money they expected to collect on the occasion of their gospel or bluegrass concerts. I will drive out of my way to avoid this place in the future. - Stan47
